Chapter 50 - Chapter 50:Totosai 2

"Good, good. I'm already looking the other way."

Asahiko blurts out a few words loud enough for everyone to hear, though they seem to be directed at someone specific. Yes to Totosai who is clearly playing dead.

"Oh, Buddha! Save this poor man before the demon loses his patience and finishes him off!"

Confirming that Asahiko has turned towards the tree, Miroku stretches out both arms in front of Totosai who still remains sprawled on the ground before speaking comically.

"Ahhh, I'm alive!"

"Kagome the old man has stopped pretending."

"Shhh, Shippo, he thinks we believe it. Don't make things seem more awkward now than they already are."

Lifting his body off the ground quickly as if understanding the message hidden in Miroku's words, Totosai devours the surrounding air in an exaggerated manner before shouting to the sky. Meanwhile and from the side, Shippo points a finger at Totosai as he speaks loudly, though Kagome quickly approaches him before speaking into his ear.

"Well, if you're done with this charade, can you tell us who we have to protect you from, old man?"

Raising his voice with clear annoyance in his tone, Inuyasha shoots a fierce glare at Totosai who chokes on air before scratching his head and then begins to speak calmly.

"She's a full demon just like him, she has waist-length silver colored hair and wears a white stele that looks very comfortable... Ah, here she comes!"

Shattering the calmness in his last words, Totosai gives a loud shout and then starts running towards behind the tree in an attempt to hide.

"That's... someone with a lot of style, I must admit."

"He 's Sesshōmaru."

Asahiko pulls the one tail that is out towards his chin, at the same time nodding as if approving of the stranger's entrance onto the scene. On the other hand, Inuyasha stares in that direction, before speaking loudly and confirms that they know him by uttering the stranger's name.

In the distance and approaching at high speed is a group of three individuals. The first was a young man with long silver hair that floats freely, he wears clearly sophisticated upper class clothing, on one of his shoulders he seems to carry a trail of white hair and his face shows no emotion. Below this young man and serving as a mount is a two-headed dragon, covered in earthy brown scales, he has muzzles on both of his mouths and a saddle on his back. Lastly is a small imp with green skin, he wears dark colors and carries with him a wooden staff that has on its top two faces.

"Friend or foe?"

Withdrawing the tail he kept on his chin and letting a rather unpleasant smile bloom on his face, Asahiko starts to clench his right hand as if he wants to do something, though first he speaks loudly so as not to make friendly fire by mistake.

"He's Inuyasha's brother, though he's attacked us on multiple occasions... Wait, put down that spear!"

"You just said he's an enemy, of course with different words, but with the same meaning. by the way this is a javelin, not a spear!"

Kagome directs her gaze towards Sesshōmaru's approximate direction and begins to speak softly, as if she is remembering some past things and even her eyes go unfocused for a few seconds, though she comes back to reality as she sees Asahiko position himself in a throwing position with a flaming javelin and stops him quickly earning some confusion laden words from him.

"Asahiko, you know, that's how brothers are. Some love each other, some hate each other and a good amount just fight each other."

Appearing from behind, Miroku wraps one of his arms around Asahiko's neck before speaking slowly, as if he was speaking some wise words and yes they were according to him.

"I have no siblings, though I did see my relatives interact with each other and sometimes they would hit each other with sticks...I seem to think they said they were swords."

Conversing with himself, Asahiko undoes the javelin as he withdraws the energy holding it and turns his attention to Sesshōmaru who has just slowed down with his beast in front of the group.

"Inuyasha. could you tell me what Totosai is doing next to you?"

Although it seemed like a simple question that anyone could ask, thanks to his serious yet direct tone and his position that allows him to look down on the entire group, it makes it seem like an order from a superior rather than a request.

"You know it's because you want to murder me. Ahh don't take me out!"

"How the hell can you move so fast... . stop squeezing my tail!"

Totosai, perhaps noticing that the tree is not the best place to hide, starts crawling on the ground, before hugging Asahiko's waist and starts yelling towards Sesshōmaru who stares at him blankly. Asahiko couldn't stand for too long having an old man attached to him and responding to those feelings the tail held out, wrapped around Totosai before lifting him into the air away from his body.

"Hahaha, Totosai... You look like you want to die soon."

"Enough, enough... If you defeat Inuyasha or this young man... No! Both of them. If you defeat both of them I promise to create a new sword for you to use, I'm too young to die!"

At the end of his laughter that was clearly not a laugh, Sesshōmaru listens to Totosai's words and looks towards Asahiko who is also looking towards him as he unconsciously squeezes Totosai's body with his tail. These two hold the cross gaze for a few moments until Asahiko tires and throws Totosai towards Inuyasha.

"Inuyasha I seem to remember that you had promised to help him. Then I'll stand and watch from the other side while you fix this situation."

Pulling Totosai off from above, Asahiko makes it clear that he will not enter into this coming mess, before pulling out his fan as he moves towards Sango and Miroku who are talking about Sesshōmaru, as this is the first time Sango has seen him as well.

"You heard him Inuyasha, you'll have to die for my new sword to be forged!"

Raising a shout into the air, Sesshōmaru leaps from his mount falling right where Inuyasha and Totosai were previously standing, though the former leaps away while the latter runs back to where Asahiko is. Sesshōmaru's one arm hits the ground causing everything within ten meters to be destroyed and the worst comes next in the form of a green colored toxic cloud that pushes Inuyasha back even further, though the rest of the group is safe thanks to Asahiko making a dome of flames around the tree keeping everyone safe.

"Let's see who dies!"

Inuyasha pulls Steel Fang back from its sheath creating an air slash that Sesshōmaru easily dodges, though the entire toxic cloud is now dispersed, making it properly visible and taking advantage of this Inuyasha hits the ground to launch a counter attack. Inuyasha's slashes were erratic and the vast majority if not all of them never hit Sesshōmaru, causing a large amount of fissures to appear in the vicinity of the battle hindering Inuyasha's movement in the long run.

"Don't you think it's sad Totosai, a sword like Steel Fang shows its true abilities in the hands of a competent owner. Inuyasha on the other hand swings it as if it were a log."

Speaking calmly as if stating a fact, Sesshōmaru looks up towards the flaming dome where Totosai stands and upon seeing his nod turns his face towards Inuyasha, and then links index and middle fingers in which dark green energy materializes which he then elongates to use as a whip.

*Boom* *Boom* *Boom* *Boom* *Boom* *Boom* *Boom* *Boom* *Boom* *Boom*.

Sesshōmaru's ability was simple but effective, thanks to the fact that he could hover in the air, his superhuman speed, superior senses and his meticulousness in dealing with the pace of the fight, he pushed Inuyasha further and further into a corner.

"Damn you... stop talking behind my back!"

Stopping his continued retreat, Inuyasha launches a diagonal slash with Steel Fang managing to destroy the toxic whip and then leaps into the air in Sesshōmaru's direction. His counterattack was useless, as Sesshōmaru only changed his stance in the air before hitting him with the repaired whip and threw him back to the ground ending Inuyasha's rage attack.
