I knew it. She thought.
She watched as Alabaster escape his jar and disappear. She is not worried though. She traced him so that she will know his every move, where he goes and what he is doing.
She took refuge in her own room after her past self was hospitalized. As expected, she could see that they are not discouraged but even more motivated to break in the Labyrinth again but not before finding Alabaster out of revenge for duping them and sending them to die.
Leon is eager for something straightforward while Rufus is interested in torturing him for information before anything.
It won't be easy. The security on the Labyrinth is trickier and thicker than ever. There is no way they would get inside the damn Labyrinth this time. Even Amy wouldn't be able to cross it.
As for Alabaster, she found out what he's been using the rats for.
It turns that by powering his brain he can control the minds of rats and process their brain power into his, keep his sanity a bit longer and delaying the symptoms of Temporal Disease. The rats couldn't handle this, so they all die of stroke. In addition to that, he is still very much tiny, though it seems that getting back to his proper size isn't a priority to him at the moment. The number of his victims increased exponentially with each day, and he is in search for the device believing that Leon still has it.
As for her, she made and caught up with her own personal plans and progress.
For one, she upgraded Hecate and now she added three more smaller, secondary magic circles resembling somewhat on moon phases. Altogether they are called Triponia Hecate.
The reasoning for this is because of the flaws she found in her main circle. Hecate is an extremely advanced technique that consumes a large amount of magic especially when it comes to manipulating its size and leaves behind a magical footprint for anyone to find and trail.
The fact that she was never caught was both lucky but at the same time, reckless.
The other flaw is how long it would last when used as a checkpoint. She plans on using this ability as long as possible. Thanks to the surplus of fairy blood, she got the drive to improve and upgrade the circle. She also had to thank Amelia Licht for giving her the idea and advice.
With these changes, she could make the checkpoint last a significantly long time if she chooses to. The next one is the magic trail that the magic circle makes when used. She cannot dispel it completely, but it would be faint before disappearing for good.
The final one is the activation of the circles from far off distances without the requirement to touch the object or person. If she could teleport objects and even people from places out of sight, then it would useful.
Again, it is extremely advanced magic that she got from Aron but incorporate that knowledge into this world's real-life knowledge and make it into something on a much larger scale.
To tell the truth, she didn't plan to upgrade the circle this quickly, but the current situation called for it. It took over six months in the past and present.
On the other hand, she had discovered context on the rumor of her being a drug pusher.
Leon want to experiment and discovered how effective her concoctions are compared to other rejuvenation potions and try to recreate it.
Even if the quality isn't the same as hers, it is still effective. They are nonetheless unsatisfied with the results and sold their "failures" to those who would benefit from it using her name to promote and credit the potions as safe.
There is a reason that their potions quality is much different than the way she makes them. All the potion ingredients she prepared are genetically bred for the desired effect. She had prepared them years prior thanks to her father and great-grandfather. Another reason is because of the equipment. Potion making isn't just about using a cauldron. The equipment isn't her own creation but in the potions room used by the upperclassmen. It is difficult to work with so unless they know how to then their batch will remain unchanged.
Amy sat and watched as a few dozen students bought the potions and sold them under her name and in a way that would not tarnish their names, reputation, or even have anyone report this to their families.
She frowned as she watched this unfold. But the downside to this would be that hers would be tarnished. People would instead come to her. It is quite obvious of what Leon think of her and frankly, the feeling is mutual.
After all these years, she befriended many people including Sabina, whom she initially disliked in the story and begrudgingly Rufus, who still made her uneasy. Leon, on the other hand is different and she had trouble seeing him as her friend to the point that she would rather not associate with her at all if possible, however, unforeseen circumstances have brought them together anyway. He sees her use and exploit it while she manipulates behind the scenes. She cannot tell whether she genuinely dislikes him or if this mindset stems from her identity of being a different person.
Taking advantage of his princely status, he forces her to comply to his demands. Amy would believe it that if she hadn't manipulated his memories then he would continue to milk every useful knowledge out of her then toss her away when she shows no use.
Even so, she cannot deny that his level of importance to the story is extremely high. If something happens to him then the balance of the story tips way too far. She has to make sure that they grow up safe and at least stable thus ensuring Aron is still the story's protagonist.
She is aware of her reputation. She is deemed a hard-working student with a particular proclivity for magic and academics. But... No one knows the inner turmoil and trials she has gone through. She cannot voice her concerns nor speak to anyone about this either. If she had full memory of her original life then perhaps, she would know what she wants and what she had originally done this for. For now, she is just following instructions blindly without thinking far ahead.
She sighs deeply as she watches Leon gulp his potion then run around the training courtyard with a burst of adrenaline.
