Rebekah's Pov
Ever since I returned to the underground prison after the conversation with the Alpha King, I felt really uncomfortable. It was this crawling on my skin which made me feel like I was being violated by his gaze.
In conclusion, I couldn't stay here any longer. I decided to push my plans forward and so I did.
Just going on the walk with the Alpha did me some benefits, I had been able to see a path of escape behind the cell buildings. All I had to do was just be focused and go really fast.
I gripped onto the hairlock in my back pocket and as the guard in charge of my lunch came over with a bucket. He unlocked the cell door and that was my opening. I rushed really quick to the guard and stabbed him by the hand. He grunted and I kicked him aside, instantly peeling his clothes off of him and wearing it. Then I stepped out of the cell hallway, instantly blending in with every single one of the guards. They didn't seem to question my posterity even.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly until I noticed a lock over the back of the cell buildings. I jumped over one, dismissing the gut feelings I felt in my stomach talking me not to go ahead with my plans. But I was far too stubborn. I kept going.
Then I hid behind every tall walls until I was clear to move forward. Eventually, I came into a rut when I heard a firm voice behind me.
"Halt!"
I panicked and instantly felt myself becoming jittery as he came close.
"What group are you?"
"Uh… six!" I was too anxious I ended up saying gibberish. The guard gave me a side eye, at then he said, "Six?! There is no such thing as group six! Who the hell are you?!" The man was very angry and seemed like he was about to shift but I took off quickly before he could say much. When I felt it was a bit safe, I shifted into my wolf and ran off.
My life felt like it had taken such a swift turn and that I had align with the destiny the stars had for me.
Once again, I could feel the gust of wind in the air and it reminded me of the help of nature and I was elated. Life was really the kind I would have never expected it to be.
I laughed to myself internally. Perhaps, there was a kind of luck that my destiny was just attached to. I never knew I could be this lucky in my life!
I jumped in the air in my wolf form. This was really the best thing in the world! Freedom.
I thank my lucky stars that I was back to living my normal life even though I wasn't essentially out of here yet. But technically, I'm free!
I sighed to myself. How much stronger had I become that I sped past the wolf that found out I was suspicious without getting bombarded with more wolves? I was still rejoicing, flowing with the warmth in the air and skipping from side to side. But then my happiness came to a halt once I saw a familiar shadow standing in front of the path I was to take.
Shivers climbed up my spine once I saw that familiar coat round up about him. W-was that the Alpha King?
The moment he stepped out of the night of the woods, I saw his face so clearly and fear gripped me like a shadow. It indeed was him!
He looked unimpressed.
I shifted into my human form, feeling a bit uncomfortable by my nakedness in front of him. He seemed to feel the same way because he pulled aside his coat and tossed it towards me. I picked it up like a wet dog and scooted it closer around my body causing me to be enveloped by his scent.
I instantly felt like a puppy in heat, sniffing around the coat. But then I forced myself to be firm and glared at the Alpha King.
"I don't care what kind of King you are, first of. But I fight fair. Since you're not shifting into your wolf, I'll do you the honors. Make sure you die in peace!"
He looked bored, and as though I was playing some sort of trick in front of him, but that wasn't the case and seeing him look at me like that was a surprising blow to my ego.
"Don't underestimate me!"
"It's impossible to not do so. Love, in battle, I am winner. In bed, I may let you. We're mates, not fighting buddies, except in bed, like I told you."
My eyes widened and my cheeks turned very pink. I was very embrassed. How could he say something like that very seriously?
"You're insane." I decided to take the insult next further. "You claim you're a king but all I see is incompetence. You have men but they couldn't even stop a little girl like me except you personally show up and stop me." My smirk was huge on my face but he did not show any expression at all.
A few moments later, he said, "You better mind what you say about my people. They are not as generous as I am."
I was unsure what to say. Everything in me was saying that I was making a big mistake In my calculations but I refused to believe it. And most importantly, the intoxicating scent of this Alpha King was blinding my senses and making it difficult for me to think clearly. This was obviously not a fair fight if I was this distracted by his scent.
"Get out of my head Alpha King!"
"You can call me Reagan."
I scoffed, then shook my head. "Are you trying to flirt with me right now?"
His voice was eerily calm, "All I'm saying is that I anticipated your escape, Love. And for your information, you didn't escape. I deliberately softened your escape for you so we can have a serious conversation right here."
"You're just trying to scare me," I said with false laughter.
"If I really wanted to scare you, mate. I'd do to you what no one has ever done to you before."
"And what is that?" I said loudly. "I'm at terms with pain. Don't you get it?" I said with irritation in my voice. "I even picked staying back at a prison instead of living a luxurious life with you as a Luna, which I still believe is a part of a big sarcastic plan to ruin me. Alpha, I don't think you can have me. You're too weak for that."
I saw his eyes glint with an emotion I hadn't quite seen on him before.
"My darling," he said softly which made me feel bad because I was totally talking to him from the lens of hatred and annoyance but he was responding back with calm and nicety which made me wonder the kind of ploy this was for.
"If you're so versed in pain and darkness, why not try passion and warmth?" He said, and as firm as I was at that moment, I felt sunken down to my knees. His words made my lips quiver and my breathing to become shallow.
"I myself have not much experience to put when it comes to these things. But I've read about a ton of them. And when I see you, I swear all of these things come alive and I have idea on how to treat you. Every single spectacle of your senses a wonder to behold—"
"—Do not say these things!" I interupted, feeling shaky and annoyed by his words. How dare he make fun of me in this way saying these illuminiscent words?
"What would you rather say?"
"I'm leaving you! This god-damned place you call yourself the king of. If you truly know your place don't you try and stop me."
His eyes were suddenly pitch black and I felt like I had said the wrong things I couldn't take back.
"Then go!" His voice was very darkened and filled with colours and textures I could not understand. Yet even though in his anger, he'd given me the go ahead to leave, he was blocking my path.
Either way, I decided to give it a shot. I had come too far to back down.
"And you either get eaten by wild lycans or trapped by rogue wolves. Forget the rogue wolves, you won't be getting past the wild lycans."
My eyes widened at the seriousness of his words. Lycans?
"However, I'm not that wicked to leave anyone without the choice of life. So mate, I recommend you go back to the cell you came from. At least you know you'll be safe there."
Even though he was saying all these other things, I was unable to forget the main point of the sentence he said before.
"Did you say lycans?" I asked with widened eyes.
