Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: The origin

Katana's Point of View

"The two Silvyria cousins have been released, you can leave now." Arianne and I instantly stood up when the officer stated that. Arianne was weeping a bit ago because she followed me and got herself into this mess. I'm not sure why the racer is no longer legal; it used to be, which is why the other two Racers don't participate since they undoubtedly know it's illegal.

"It's good that we are free now huhu." I sighed before speaking.

"It's also your fault because you followed me; I'm sure Dad will scold me again." I yelled at her, and she simply snorted.

"You're used to being scolded, aren't you?" I locked my gaze on her. Well, she's right; I'm used to getting scolded by Dad, but still I couldn't stand it!

"What on earth is this nonsense of yours, Luna?" Dad asked with a smile, but I could see he was going to shout at me, but he was holding back because we were still at the police station.

"I love you, Dad." I smiled sweetly, but Dad frowned as we got into his car because of what I said. Arianne sat in the front seat, while I sat in the back. You already understand why.

"Argh! KATANALUNA!" I closed my eyes firmly as Dad yelled.

"I don't know what I'm going to do with you, kid!" While driving, he proceeded to nag me. So, to relax himself, he sighed.

"Dad, I had no idea that Racer was illegal, you know me, I don't participate in illegals." When I explained, I noticed Arianne's frightened expression and I knew she would be punished by her father.

"First, you were arrested for making a disturbance in a pub." I scowled since Dad seemed to be blaming me for starting the trouble.

"I'm not the one who made that mess, Dad. I just saved the woman they were harassing because, you know, I don't want women to be harmed, especially while I'm drinking." I explained then closed my eyes.

"Yeah. That's something I understand. Second, the men attack our house after you beat one of their friends." I quickly opened my eyes as a result of what he said.

"Dad, I'm not the one who started it. How can I sleep if that man is so stupid? He gets me out of my seat, and the one I despise the most is the one who disrupts my sleep." Dad smacked his forehead since he wasn't satisfied with my explanation, while Arianne burst out laughing, making me wince. Dad can grow even angrier as a result of this!

"I really don't know what to do with you, Luna!"

Mom and Dad call me Luna, which is nice, but I prefer Katana.

"I'm sorry, Dad," with my head down, I heard his deep sigh.

"I just don't want you to get hurt, let's just assume you're strong enough to handle them, but you're still a girl, so act like one, okay? You know that you are the only woman in my life, and I will be unable to survive if I also lose you." I looked at Dad because his tone was melancholy. Yes, Dad was right, I was the only woman in his life because my mother died when I was fourteen. She's been gone for four years, and I'm already seventeen, with my 18th birthday coming up tomorrow.

"I'm truly sorry, Dad, I promise I won't do something dumb or get in trouble again. This time I'll behave, I love you." I was smiling, and Dad was smiling as well because of what I said. I love both my father and mother, and I don't want to lose Dad since I've already lost my mother; I don't want to lose him as well.

•••

When I felt something tap me on the shoulder, I opened my eyes and saw Dad.

"Dad? Is there a problem?" I asked with a frown and annoyance because he woke me up in the middle of the night, but my annoyance vanished when I noticed Dad's sweaty and anxious expression.

"Luna, we need to leave now." My brow furrowed even more when Dad said that. I quickly checked my phone and discovered that it was just 1:23 a.m.

"At this time? Maybe it can wait till tomorrow, Dad, and where are we heading now?" I was startled and asked him, and he seemed impatient, bringing me out of my room.

"We have to get out of here, they shouldn't be able to track us down." Dad's voice seemed a little nervous, so instead of asking additional questions, I just kept silent. When we got down the stairs, our door suddenly opened, and Dad hid me behind him.

"Who would have thought that there are Santuarians in the human world?" The man, who I believe is in his twenties, is shouting, and he has some people with him that I can't tell what kind of person they are or if they can be called people because they look like monsters because their entire body is black except for their red eyes, they looked scary, and only the man who spoke looked human.

"What do you need from us? We're not doing anything wrong to you!" I said annoyed, which drew all of their attention to me.

They are to blame for disturbing my sleep; without them, I would have slept soundly until now.

What a piece of shit!

"Who is this girl? Your child?" He asked but Dad ignored him.

"Capture those two!" He yelled, and the monsters approached us slowly.

"Run, Luna! I'll take care of them!" I didn't follow Dad when he yelled at me, so I was surprised when a fire appeared on his hand and he threw it at the two monsters who approached us, causing them to fall. I'm confused.

What is going on? Does Dad have power? Or am I having a hallucination?

"D-dad..." Dad pushes me out of the door.

"Luna, please leave right now! They shouldn't get you, I'll take care of it!" I can see the sadness and fear in Dad's eyes, not for himself, but for me.

"No way, Dad! I don't want to leave you here." I shook my head and wrapped my arms around him.

"Kahser!" When Dad called our cat, it came running. I was surprised to be able to release my grip on Dad.

"Take care of my daughter, Kahser, and don't let anything bad happen to her. Now is the time for her to return to her origin." Dad said, and my eyes widened as he responded.

"You can count on me, my friend." His voice was booming which surprised me a lot.

What? Just...did I hear right? Our cat, talking?

Dad locked his gaze on me and embraced me tightly. When I looked at the monsters, I noticed that there was a barrier between us and them.

With the tightness of the hug and the way it seemed to convey that this was our last hug and meeting, I cried and said, "Dad, I don't want to..."

"Luna, please leave. Don't be afraid of him, he's trustworthy." I can see Dad's tears, which I believe he has been holding back for quite some time.

I don't want to be separated from him!

"Dad! Will I also lose you now that Mom is gone? Dad, I don't want it." I said while holding back my tears.

"KATANALUNA, RUN AWAY!" He yelled so loudly and authoritatively at me that I eventually agreed to do whatever Dad said, even if it was against my will.

"Dad, will we ever see each other again?" He took a long time to respond to my question. He smiled at me so sweetly that I'm hoping it's not the last time I see those 'smiles'.

"I promise," at the same time as I smiled, the tears I had been holding back began to fall.

Dad, I will keep that promise, I will wait even if it takes a long time, I will wait...

After that, I ran away from the house with Kahser, not knowing where we were headed.

And then, in the middle of that night, my life began to change.
