Chapter 9 - Bet with Avril

The man's eyes widened in shock, and blood kept pouring from his mouth. He struggled in disbelief for a few seconds and then died smoothly.

Ares let go of the dagger stuck in the man's chest, walked to the corner washed his hands, and said in a faint voice without any emotion: "Go check this Viscount Karl out."

"Okay." A man walked out of the darkest corner of the room. It was Bart who had been hiding behind the pillar to watch the fight and did not join in.

He looked at the corpses in the room. after a moment of melancholy, he still resigned himself to his fate and bent down to pick up the two corpses one by one and walked out of the door.

When his brother fights, he buries the bodies. This is their daily life as brothers. However, it's raining tonight and it's dark outside. It's not a good job to bury a lot of bodies.

However, when it rains, the soil is soft, which is good for digging holes. Thought of here, Bart's depressed expression finally subsided a bit.

By the time Bart cleaned up the tail, washed his body by the river, and ran naked into the house, his brother was already lying on the bed and seemed to be asleep. Bart hung the clean clothes aside and lay down on the bed.

But he was still very excited and couldn't sleep.

He opened his eyes in the darkness, and after a long silence, a mischievous smile suddenly appeared on his lips: "Ares, you were talking in your sleep."

It was midnight when the group of people came. And they were both sleeping. He vaguely heard someone talking in his ears. When he opened his eyes, Bart realized that his brother was talking in his sleep. He couldn't even remember the last time his brother talked in his sleep. Bart's sleepiness disappeared immediately, and he held his breath excitedly to hear it, but when he heard something, there was movement outside, and his brother woke up instantly.

Ares closed his eyes and did not move at all, but his brown eyelashes trembled slightly.

Bart didn't care whether his brother responded or not. He only paused momentarily and then said without fear: "You said... you don't hurt."

Bart suppressed his laughter and then laughed: "Hahaha, brother, what on earth did you dream about? What do you mean 'don't hurt'? Hahaha."

Ares opened his eyes in the night, with some complicated emotions in his deep green eyes. He was silent for a moment, then raised his foot and kicked Bart out of bed, who was gloating about his embarrassing thing and laughing almost out of breath.

Bart couldn't stop laughing even after he was kicked down. He just burst out laughing on the ground. After laughing, he said: "Ares, do you like me to imitate your tone for you."

"Go and challenge the 1,000th place tomorrow. I'll sign up for you." Ares's voice sounded sinisterly in the night.

Bart's laughter stopped immediately. Challenge the thousandth place? Doesn't this mean that he will be beaten to death by others?

From the moment he entered this place, Bart had planned his path, which was to circle a place away from the 2,000th. He would never challenge anyone within 1,000th. He would rely on his brother's reputation and honor to eat and wait for death. Those slaves within 1,000th were all only those who loved to fight hard and fight with them.

He will never join in there, Never!!!

Bart immediately climbed back on the bed flatteringly and carefully apologized: "Brother, I was wrong, I am just an idiot, don't argue with me, I promise never to say these things in the future!

Ares: "Then the fifteen hundredth."

Bart grimaced and wanted to beg for mercy, but Ares added in a calm tone: "If you don't want to, just challenge the thousandth place, and you'll get it right in one step."

Bart immediately didn't dare to plead for mercy, and could only say feebly: "Okay, okay, just fifteen hundred."

Ares ignored him and turned sideways to close his eyes, but the vague scenes in his sleep flashed before his eyes. He licked his dry lips, frowned, and buried his head deeply in his arms.

When he was drowsy, he suddenly remembered why he said "I don't hurt."

Because she asked in his dream...

So he said...I don't hurt.

At the same time, in the tallest castle in Rose Manor, Princess Rose was also in her dream.

Elizabeth dreamed that she was watching the game in the corner tower and made a bet with her arch-rival Avril on a fight involving a little-known slave named Hasher, but the slave whom Avril bet on won the game.

She was angry, Elizabeth tied Ares to her, forced him to kneel, and watched the entire game with feet on his back, humiliating Ares and Avril, who was interested in Ares, and Arrogantly declared: He is mine, his body even his corpse are all mine!

When Elizabeth woke up in the morning, she felt exhausted. It was a new day and the battle had begun again.

Elizabeth knew that Viscount Carl had failed last night, but she was not surprised. After all, the male protagonist is not that easy to kill. Letting Karl take action is just to test the bottom line of the World's Will. When Karl took action last night, she waited all night without punishment, so as long as she didn't take action herself, indirectly harming the male protagonist is not within the scope of destroying the main plot.

This is indeed good news.

Elizabeth was in a great mood, freshened up, and put on a flamboyant red dress. Her long golden silk-like hair was casually draped over her body, and she walked out of the door, holding Bili's hand, all the way to the arena.

As soon as Elizabeth arrived at the arena, Avril followed soon after, which was what Elizabeth expected.

The original Elizabeth and Avril, the two most noble girls in the entire manor, grew up together but did not have a deep friendship. On the contrary, they were very disgusted with both.

Avril hated that the original Elizabeth was in a higher position than herself. She hated that Elizabeth could be called Princess while she could only be called Miss. What she hated even more was Elizabeth's appearance, which made her ashamed of herself.

The original Elizabeth hates Avril's hypocrisy, hates her pretending to be nice in front of her elders, and even hates that Tristan, whom she has always had a crush on, is Avril's biological brother.

The two of them hate each other a lot because their elders can only pretend to be harmonious, they fight harder than anyone else on the inside.

So even though Avril usually flaunts her kindness and hates bloody places like the arena, she rushes over as soon as she hears that Elizabeth is coming.

Unlike Elizabeth's extremely flamboyant red dress, Avril has always loved all kinds of pink and blue skirts with delicate workmanship, wide skirts, and skirts full of bows and lace.

She was dressed up today, wearing a delicate pink skirt and a wig about half an arm long on her head. The wig was also decorated with a bunch of beautiful jewelry. She succeeded in becoming the most unique one here.

Elizabeth glanced sideways at Avril's pale face and turned her head back unbearably.

Elizabeth's skin is very white, so white that it even has a faint halo under the sun and moonlight. You can't find any flaws on her face at any time, just like flawless white jade.

This made some people in the manor always call Elizabeth an angel. Of course, this title stung Avril's heart, so she started to apply white powder on her face. All exposed places from her face to her hands would be covered with heavy white powder.

Every time Avril appears, Elizabeth has the illusion that she is made of white powder.

Avril didn't know what Elizabeth was thinking. She swung her fan and walked up to Elizabeth. She said softly in the tone of an elder sister teaching her youngest sister: "My dear, why didn't you come to the banquet yesterday? Breaking an appointment is not a good behavior of a princess. Ah. But it doesn't matter, I forgive you."

Elizabeth glanced at Avril sideways, turned her face away as if she saw something dirty, and had no intention of paying attention to her. This was the usual way the two of them got along. Except in front of their elders and Avril's brother Tristan, Elizabeth never disdains Avril.

Avril was used to it. She was not angry but sat on the soft sofa. She glanced at the "disc" in the center of the arena with a compassionate look, then looked away with fear on her face and made a prayer gesture: "God bless them. They are so pitiful."

Elizabeth snorted coldly, put down her fan, and punched her fists in the palm of her hand a few times like the other spectators. This action was meant to cheer and encourage the fighter.

Avril frowned and looked at Elizabeth with a worried look: "Why do you, a girl, like fighting and killing scenes so much? It must be because you didn't have a mother's upbringing since you were a child, so you are as cruel as a man. It's pitiful."

This sentence again and again, during the years when the two of them fought openly and secretly, Avril's favorite sentence was "You are so pitiful for not having a mother's upbringing", and it was also the sentence that the original Elizabeth hated the most.

Elizabeth just like the original owner of this body, exploded in one click and threw the cake plate on the table with her hand.

The maid next to Avril was expecting it. She took a step forward and blocked the plate, and all the white cake was scattered on the maid's skirt.

Avril grabbed her maid with an anxious look on her face, asked her softly if she was injured, and apologized to the maid on behalf of Elizabeth.

This is also the inherent pattern of getting along, Elizabeth is always irritable, and Avril is always the good one.

Elizabeth has been tired of it for the past six months, but Avril is enjoying it, especially in such a crowded scene. She is even more happy to see Elizabeth lose her composure.

She comforted the maid for a while, then turned around and said with disapproval: "Elizabeth, you must apologize to her. She is a commoner and cannot be insulted by you at will."

Elizabeth, who was wearing a red dress, slowly stood up from her seat, walked to Avril step by step with her slender neck held high, looked at Avril condescendingly, and raised her lips coldly: "Why?"

Avril looked at the beautiful face so close to her, her pupils shrank, and then she suddenly turned her head to look at the arena and said loudly: "Let's place a bet, and if I win, you will apologize to my mistress."

Okay, here comes the plot!

Elizabeth raised her mouth proudly: "Okay, what if you lose?"

Avril smiled confidently: "If I lose, I will give you all the letters written by my brother these days." She was sure of the appeal of these letters to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth snorted coldly in her heart, but she didn't show it on her face. Instead, she looked interested and said, "Deal."
