Chapter 6 - The Resonance Ceremony

The Hidden cave she entered with the help of Avious' direction was damp and dark, and as she walked deeper into the cave she felt her body burn but she continued her walk, biting down the pain until she reached a pond which was lit above, and up ahead was the continuation of the cave.

[Jump in the water, it has healing properties.] Avious said.

Lyanna let out a deep sigh as she crouched gently, and dipped her body in the water. The effect was immediate, she felt the burning sensation all over her body slowly stop and was replaced by a calming sensation.

[Now, let's begin the resonance ceremony.] The voice announced, this time closer which brought Lyanna's gaze to the man who was guiding her.

The person who spoke to her finally appeared, and this made Lyanna turn to where the voice came from, a man with fiery red and warm purple hair stood in front of her, and he wore a white tunic donned with gold patterns, 'He is divine' Lyanna thought as she scanned his slender physique, while he lowered his head as a sign of respect.

Lyanna has heard of Phoenixes existing from her parents' stories, but she has never heard of one in a beautiful shade of purple. A magical beast can go through Humanimation when it reaches a certain level of power thus gaining intelligence. But for those magical beasts that have been myths, it is said that they are born with it and Phoenixes are a good example of it.

At this point Lyanna's head felt heavy, her eyes blurred not ever realizing that Avious had changed form, "What resonance ceremony? I never remember anything about me having a contract before to a magical beast no less."

The Phoenix scoffed, crossed his arms, and turned his head, "This is why I told your parents to tell you in advance. Yet they kept saying how it's too dangerous to resonate with you and stuff.", he said and turned to her, "But we have no time for that. Let's focus on the matter at hand. Your mana heart–what you humans call a mana core is breaking. This usually happens when your mana pool is too big for your heart to handle." Avious started which confused her.

"That's impossible, I've trained my mana core to be able to handle the Lake Mana Pool!" she exclaimed.

Avious Shook his head, disappointed at the fact that Lyanna's Parents never truly told her the truth of what happened when she was a child, "Wrong. It was never that size Dear. Your mana pool is beyond anyone's imagination. The only way to save you was sealing it off, and then training your core up to a certain age.--- This will slightly hurt."

Avious carefully carried Lyanna out of the water, as white flames slowly engulfed his body, As the while flame started to pass through Lyanna it was burning red.

"At what age did you stop your training?" the man asked.

Lyanna winced in pain, "I was eight"

"Stage at?"

"Peritum Discretionem." Lyanna said

Avious chuckles, "You're quite smart."

Lyanna could only smile, as they were completely engulfed in flames, "The eternal flame is the only thing that can save me."

She said, and Avious was silent.

"So that's the reason why Mother and Father would go on long trips, how they'd look at me with sadness, how my brothers treat me carefully. It was because the only way to save me was for a Phoenix to give up their rebirth.'' The flame burned away Lyanna's tears, and Avious could only look at her with regret, "So why are you doing this?"

"I have my reasons and it was not as simple as you think. You were too young, you would not survive it and a Phoenix would be bound to you."

"I guess this is the resonance ceremony."

"Yes, now say your name."

Lyanna nodded and stated, "I, Lyanna Earla Margarette Anathasia Yuuki sol Urania, ask the mighty beast for the establishment of a contract between beast and human—"

A devilish smile was on Avious, "I, Avious the great Phoenix, accept this contract that grants her my protection and recognizes her as my children's ward."

"Children?" Lyanna said confusedly before slowly losing consciousness

"Thus, this contract is complete." Avious may have forgotten to tell her on purpose, "I'm sorry about that little one, my flame and you were the only way to hatch them."

This was true, Avious had protected the eggs for more than a century, and a lot of humans, elves, and dwarves had tried to form a contract but they failed. Avious thought at one point it was Lyanna's father, but he was wrong. Zion even brought his wife-then girlfriend but it was not a match.

Yet, when Lyanna was born the Phoenix knew it was her immediately when he came to visit wanting to immediately place a contract, alas he was shooed away by Zion and their eldest son, Kaspian. Avious could have faced just one of them, but never those two together, they scare him. A lot.

Avious felt his body erode as he walked back to his chambers, and he left a trail of ashes with every step, when he reached the place Avious carefully placed Lyanna down on the slab of Mythril, in this way Lyanna could heal faster. He also noticed the movement of the two most precious creatures to him, his children. Avious carefully placed them on the nest he made and place it next to the girl.

"My children.", Avious said weakly, "I have to go soon, but I have enjoyed the short time we spent." The eggs both moved, making the Phoenix smile. "Your mother and I… we love you dearly." Avious felt great sadness, as tears started to fall from his eye, he was truly a crybaby like his wife said.

Avious carefully torched the eggs one last time, "My childred, grow fast and strong to protect your ward because your journey ahead with her will be hard."

As the baby Phoenixes finally broke free from its chamber, Avious completely turned to dust and vanished. The two baby phoenixes looked at each other and then back to where the man previously stood.

""Fufyu~fu~""
