Chapter 8 - The Person he Can never forget

Killian entered a small room, his eyes scanned the space as if searching for someone, his gaze was locked on the bed when he noticed a figure under the blanket.

It was the dead of the night, everyone else in the mansion he entered had fallen asleep so he made sure to carefully approach the bed. As Killian came closer he finally realized that there was no person on the bed, but rather a poorly made figure to disguise as someone.

He was so sure.

This was the place where he felt it.

A few hours ago, Killian noticed a sudden burst of energy. It was not uncommon in this country although this one particular mana was familiar to him, and if it wasn't for his familiar notifying him then he would not have taken extra steps to get to the edge of the Helios Empire while he was deep underneath a dungeon.

"You look like a puppy." A man's voice said the moment he entered the forest that was right next to the estate, he emerged from the shadows of the tree and wore black clothes and a mask to hide his face. Killian ignored the man.

'Are you sure you felt her?' Killian asked telepathically to his familiar, and he felt a soft growl.

'I will never mistake that power, Master. The princess has awakened.' a deep voice sounded in KIllian's head, 'The Young Phoenix has made his move too.'

Then she couldn't have gone that far. Killian thought.

"Forest!"

That voice–KIllian's head turned to the direction deep into the forest, it was the voice of someone he could never mistake for someone else.

"Oh great Vishar."

Before Killian could even think things through, his body started to move in the voice's direction.

"Please welcome my stay."

The woman's voice continued as he drew closer to the edge of the forest. Her voice was clearer this time. And finally, he reached the edge and saw the small figure of a woman.

'Wait.' The clear voice of his familiar stopped him from making another step; the woman was only a few meters away from him.

Nevertheless, Killian watched her as she lowered her head as if she was greeting an equal.

'She's right there, Alastor. She looks so small-boney.' Killian said as his eyes softened at the look of her. That's when he noticed her bruises and scars on his arms.

'Take a look at her. Now's not the time for you to meet her.'

The moment his familiar said that Killian looked at her again, this time focusing his mana around his eyes, and saw it. The woman's core was breaking, and her body was not in the best condition either, the scars he saw were not even all of it, she had a few broken bones that were healing but what was worse was her constitution. He could not understand how she could stand tall.

'All the more reason, Alastor.'

KIllian's jaw tightened at the thought of people who dared to touch and hurt someone as precious as her, not only to her family but also to him. "Lyanna!" he screamed not caring what his familiar want--and calling out a name he had always kept like a secret, close to his heart.

The girl flinched, stopping in her tracks and turning to him.

There was only silence as the two of them stood across each other. She didn't need to speak of what went on with her life for ten years. It was too long, and there was no excuse for having no way of finding her. The scars on her body of unspeakable things she went through.

Despite that, Killian stood there breathless at the sight of Lyanna. She was as beautiful as she was when he lost her especially her amethyst eyes. All Killian want now is to hug her and tell her he never stopped looking for her.

Yet, just as he took a step and ran to Lyanna, the ground on which she stood crumbled and she fell into the Vishar Forest. Killian searched for her but the barrier was preventing his eyes from seeing further.

'She's safe. The Phoenix will make sure of that. He's the only one that can help fix her core.' Alastor's voice said trying to assure him, but to Killian; The only way he can make sure that Lyanna.

Killian met the Phoenix Avious in search of Lyanna once, "Could have helped in fixing her core, her father taught it to me once."

'It was not for this, Lyanna has a better chance if she meets Avious.'

He fell silent for a moment, "Clarence."

As Killian spoke those words, the man who wore the black robes appeared and kneeled in front of him and lowered his head. Clarence was one of KIllian's people, a man who works in the shadows with many faces and identities.

"Infiltrate Marquise Vander's estate." Killian started, "I need information on a woman for the past decade; Blonde hair–He decided to omit to say about her eyes– Seventeen years old. Find me anything that says about her."

Clarence had always known of his master searching for someone, but he was privy to it. This might be the first time he would ask his expertise about something. "Everything?"

"Yes. Go, I have things to prepare for her arrival." Killian nodded to Clarence and turned away from the man.

"Alright. I'll see you in 3 days. Master~" Clarence said, teasing the last bit before disappearing into the night.

Killian stood at the edge of the cliff, a small smile on his lips before pulling out a round blue orb. "Lucas," he said the name three times.

[For the love of Celes. It's three in the morning Kil], a deep voice on the other side of the orb said, [What the hell are you calling about?]

"I found her. She's alive." Killian heard a noise on the other side of the orb.

[What?] disbelief was in Lucas' voice.

"She's alive," Killian said again.

[I know– You don't need to repeat yourself. Where is she? Is she with you?]

Killian would not be calling Lucas if she was with him, "She's not. She fell into the Vishar forest."

Lucas was silent, [Fuck. I'm returning to the Empire. My cousin is more than capable even in that forest, still.]

"Alastor said Lyanna will be fine." Killian sighed, he didn't want to tell Lucas back because of how fussy he could get, but he needed Lucas' help. "Just shut up and teleport here, Lyanna will be out of this forest in a month."

[I'm at the sea Killian. I'm not as crazy as you.]

"I need to prepare for her arrival. Do you think you can get–"

[I'll tell my father about the permit.]

"Lucas… Lyanna was covered in bruises and scars when I saw her." Killian started, "She was at the Vander's Estate."

Lucas' side was silent again, [Don't make any moves right now Killian.] he said regardless of knowing how Killian was.

"I'm not."

Lucas chuckles, [Right.]

Killian ended the call and he paused to take in the beauty of the horizon. With a hopeful heart, he left to keep Lyanna safe.
