"Do not mind what she said, okay? Eat your food" he gently patted her head and caressed her face with so much love in his eyes.
AMIRA~
His fiery eyes shone brightly as he stared into my eyes, I could see a glint of emotion in them but my defence mode kicked in and I withdrew a little from him, leaving his hands hanging in mid air.
I still was not comfortable with him around me.
Zoriel seemed to understand me as he gently brought his arm down but his eyes never left my face, making me uneasy.
"My mother will not hurt you, go ahead and eat" he said to me and surprisingly I found myself dwelling on his words, I picked up my cutleries and slowly began to eat.
Though I was still feeling sad about the earlier outburst of his mother's anger and I honestly did not know that she was his mother but his words seemed to fight it's way into my heart, soothing me a little bit.
"Don't worry. I will protect you, you're not going anywhere. Eat and go back to the room, I will be back late today. I have to meet the council"
With that, he blinked those fire coloured eyes which appeared gentle and calm before pushing his chair back and walking away, leaving me all to myself in the huge dining table which was filled with different mouth watering dishes.
The air around felt eery and cold, I stared around me and everything my eyes landed on was either red or black in colour.
From the plates on the table to the different artifacts and decorations which either hung on the wall or stood by the side against the wall.
The tiles on the floor were a puzzle of red and black.
Even the guards who stood so rigidly at various angles were all clad in black.
I managed to eat a little before heading back to the room because the atmosphere was very uncomfortable.
Going up the stairs, I heard footsteps behind me. I stopped and turned to see who it was and I counted four guards.
"Your highness" they bowed.
"Thank you, please stop following me" I said.
"I'm sorry your highness but the king ordered us to do so"
Seriously? Wasn't this husband of mine too extra?, I deadpanned and continued my movement.
ZORIEL~
I honestly did not know why mother had to act that way. Even a mere maid would know that Amira had no idea about who she was, a simple introduction would have been better, rather than getting all angry.
I had to talk to her so I headed to her suite. I had in mind that she was not inside her suite but I still went to clear my doubt and I was right.
She wasn't in.
There was no need to wonder where she was because I already knew.
I gradually became one with the air, vanishing into thin air.
In a cold dark hall, the council of elders were seated in order before me and I could spot my mother in their midst and beside her was an empty huge seat where my father previously sat as the head of the council.
"I knew you would be here. Reporting me to the council?" I asked, my voice echoing through the large hall.
"Because you know that you're wrong?"
"I am not wrong, I only chose a wife for my self"
"And you chose a human!?"
"I am fated to her "
"Then reject her like the others!"
"Mother, there is nothing wrong with Amira being a human "
"Everything is wrong! You know what you are, Zoriel!"
"I never chose to be a demon!"
"Nobody chooses to be a demon! You don't have a choice!"
"Breathe, Dominica" a lady beside Zoriel's mother said to her as she was already flaring up in anger.
"You see this throne? You will not sit on it until you get a wife who will reign alongside you. Until you get a bride from among our race!"
"I don't care if I rule this world or not, I am the king of Darkvalley and I am married, for all I care"
"What nonsense are you spewing from your mouth?! Your great grand fathers sat on this throne and you will too!"
"You cannot force me, if you reject my Queen Amira, then you reject me"
"You see what I was talking about?" She faced the other members.
"He has now grown wings!"
"Of course I have grown wings, you thought I would be a baby dragon for ever? Oh no, I've grown wings and I will use them as I please" I quickly faded away from among them. I was in no mood to exchange words.
My mood turned sour, I was so angered and infuriated because mother seemed to always pick a fight with me over literally everything.
She should know by now that I am no longer little and can make decisions on my own. Who ever I chose as a wife should not be her concern!
The sound of chirping birds surrounded me as I found myself in an overgrown field. My ears picked up sounds of laughters coming from ahead and I looked up to see about five humans, three men and two women, they were farmers.
I suddenly had the urge to kill, I wanted to see some blood because it had been a long time. Coupled with my temper at the moment, I needed to blow some steam and cool off. I so badly wanted to vent out my anger and these poor humans would be my victim, unfortunately.
With the speed of light, I suddenly appeared in their midst and I noticed how shocked they were.
"Good day sir" a man among them greeted with a short bow, maybe judging from my dressing, he should have sensed that I was no commoner. Quite a generous man for his age, I decided to spare him.
"Run away now" I spoke in a low dangerous tone but the man seemed confused. He did not understand me and I was glad to make him understand.
I held up my fist in the air and a man standing next to him suddenly started choking, I had ceased his breath.
I tightened my fist and he exploded like a suicide bomber, splattering his blood on both me and the rest farmers.
They were all so horrified by what they had just seen and in turn, attempted to run away but the only person who could move his feet was the generous man, I had held down the rest.
"Please, allow them" he pleaded but I wasn't going to show mercy.
"Run away now or join them"
The old man quickly took to his heels, leaving his colleagues at my mercy and in no time, his colleagues were all bursted into shreds one after the other, the sight of blood usually calmed my worked up nerves.
By the time I was done, my clothes were covered with blood but I did not mind.
When the evening arrived, after I had impulsively killed some more innocent people to soothe my inner demon, I decided to return home to meet my angel.
WPOV~
Amira sat in front of the dressing mirror, staring at her reflection. She noticed how stressed she was becoming and how much weight she had lost since from when she found out that she would be getting married to her present husband.
The words of her mother then resounded in her head.
"He is a nice man, and he loves you..."
"Just obey him and everything will be fine..."
"You don't have to start acting stubborn Amy, even your father and I had an arranged marriage but look how we are now, there's love between us now, I promise you that the same thing will happen to you..."
'Maybe mom was right' she thought. Since she arrived, her husband seemed to be a nice man as he had been nice to her.
Even going as far as defending her in front of his mother, she began to think that her husband wasn't as bad as she thought because his actions earlier that morning really touched her deep inside.
"He's not that bad though" she said as she made up her mind to try and accept him, there was no other way so why not just accept him
The doors suddenly opened and Zoriel walked in, all soaked in blood, he sighted Amira and went closer to her.
"Oh my goodness.... " she stood up in horror and moved back as her eyes widened in shock. Even his hands and face were all soaked.
"Y-you're covered in blood..." Her voice was shaky as she leaned against the wall, all drenched in fear while Zoriel caged her with his huge self.
He then looked down at his shirt and only then did he remember.
"Oh... I guess I am" he purred lowly and watched as Amira became dizzy as so many thoughts rang in her mind.
'Oh no... is he a killer? Or a vampire ? Why is he all bloody? And I was about to accept him. "Oh my g...." Her head spun around and she lost consciousness.
