"Who's there?" The night watcher yelled out towards the corner where the screams earlier emanated from.
Jake, after hearing the voice of the night watcher, let go of the dead body and it fell on the dry grasses with a rustle sound while licking up the traces of blood on his lips.
With the speed of light, he left the scene, leaving the body exposed. The night watcher held up his fire lamp, trying to see through the darkness as he approached the scene.
"Oh my gawd.." he said when he saw the unmoving human. So many unanswerable questions visited his mind, 'what happened? who could have done this? Was it an animal or a human?'
The next day, the topic of the dead body found in the woods was the major topic of discussion for everyone. The citizens were terrified as to how come about the dead body.
A further investigation was done on the body and two marks were found on the woman's neck, this revelation left the citizens in fear.
It was rumoured that either a vicious wild animal or a vampire was on the loose, roaming the forests. The people were warned not to step out in the dark until the creature is found.
The citizens were in a great confusion and frustration. They cried to their king and Lords, who sympathized with them, assuring them of solution and safety, including lord Wesley who knew quite well that his son was the 'creature'.
"Why would you do such?! You know very well it is a secret!" Lord Wesley questioned Jake with angry eyes.
"But I wasn't caught" Jake replied nonchalantly.
He stood in front of his father while his father sat on his throne, both were in his courtroom.
"You would have been caught by that night watcher, Jake! Don't tell me you weren't caught because you would have been! And why would you do such without informing me or your mother?!"
"I was craving for-"
"Could you not control your dirty cravings?"
"You're dragging this matter too long, father. I wasn't caught, I know how to be careful "
Lord Wesley breathed out in defeat as he eased into his chair while glaring at his son.
"I'm only warning you, if you get exposed, I will deny you and you will be burned to death by the youths of this land!"
Jake gave a little scoff as he tuned around and walked out while his father was still speaking.
DARKVALLEY KINGDOM
AMIRA~
Standing in the spacious room, I looked around, examining every detail of the room and I was at least okay with the arrangements, though the colour that surrounded me was just black but there was nothing I could do about it.
I gently walked to the bed and sank into its comfort as I dwelled upon the feeling of having my own room.
While Zoriel was out, I made the maids move my stuffs out of his room and into another one. Unfortunately, the only spare room was the one next to his room but I just had to move out so I took it.
At least I don't have to share space with that freak anymore, I don't have to be scared of dying in my sleep because I would make sure to lock my door every night.
I suddenly remembered my supposed mother in law and I just couldn't understand why she despised me so much. If so then why not let me go? Why not abort the marriage and give me my freedom?
It wasn't like I was begging to stay, I too despised her and her freaking son so they should just let me out of this cage!
Although I knew it wasn't going to happen because Zoriel seemed to love me but it wasn't my fault that I didn't love him, rather I loved Jake and was missing him so much.
I wanted to run into his arms and seek comfort, I wanted to kiss those lips and forget my sorrows, oh how I wished to run my hands through his brown silky hair and stare into his pretty innocent eyes.
At this moment, I wasn't grateful for what my parents did to me, they caused me this pain and they have no idea of what I'm passing through right now.
Sadness welled up inside me, making my heart feel so heavy that I needed to let out some emotions, I closed my eyes as tears rolled down my cheeks but I quickly cleaned them.
"I don't have to cry" I consoled myself because crying would not solve anything at the moment. Instead of me to cry, I will just try and survive this hell hole. I wouldn't let them see my weakness.
An idea came to my mind and I quickly jumped down from the bed and sat on the chair, picked up a pen and began to write. I was going to write a letter to Jake.
ZORIEL~
After taking a long walk in the quiet forest, I decided to return home. I had missed Amira and wanted to see her again.
I stood still and watched as my environment changed from the woods to my library in the castle as I teleported back home. I walked out of the library and headed to my room and once I stepped in, I knew something was off.
Apart from the fact that I didn't see Amira, I also couldn't feel her near me, I knew she wasn't inside. She had moved out and without my permission. This got me a bit enraged.
"Where is she!?" I asked the guard who stood rigidly by my door and watched as he bowed deeply before speaking.
"My king, your majesty earlier requested for her things to be moved out to another room and so the maids-"
"Fucking answer me, where is she!" I growled impatiently.
"Forgive me, Your highness, she is in the ne-"
Before he finish his sentence, I left and went to the room next to mine, I could sense her presence in there so I pushed the door open and there she was, staring at me with widened eyes, I could tell she was surprised.
Standing in front of her, I felt my raging spirit become calm as I stared into those sad eyes which always had a way of making me sad too.
"Honey, why did you leave our room?" I asked while stepping into the room.
