Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: New Year's Eve

Life had always been a lonely journey for me each day seemed to carry the weight of my pain, and choices made by my parents and the hurt and regrets I have for their decision and mine. As I sat alone in my room the silence echoed the emptiness in my heart. The diary layed before me waiting to be filled with my deepest thought and emtions. With a heavy sigh I picked up my pen and began to write ...

As I begin to write a call came through with the reminder that the new years eve preparations were taking place so I rushed downstairs, on getting there my aunty kate asked "what happened you have been locked up in your room all morning Jeremy and I are worried", "nothing I was just busy with some stuff", as I tried to avoid the questions coming from my aunt and any one from my brother they was a sudden knock on the door, Jeremy went to see who it is, opened and saw that it was alexa and cassie my close friends."hey guys " as they hand the banana strawberry pie over to me, Cassie then askes why my eye's look so swollen without hesitation I spit out a lie, the day went on and we finished up the decoration and food preparations for tomorrow events as I bid a good night to my friends and my family I hurried to my room, then a sudden knock on my door, it is my aunt kate " hey love" as she sits on my bed close to me I smirked inorder to reciprocate her greeting " you seemed lost in your thought's today and rather unhappy, you still have that look on but I just wanted to say that I'll always be available to talk if need be." as she strokes my hair " I'm okay aunty kate i just need rest, I'll be fine tomorrow" she kisses me on the head and walks out.

Jane found herself trapped in a haunting nightmare, surrounded by darkness and uncertainty, in her dream drawn towards a vast expanse of water, what seemed to call her, as she approached the water edges she feels a sense of regret, pain and sadness in her heart, the dream was filled with eerie echoes and unsettling visions leaving jane disorientednd unsettled.

Breathing very heavily I woke feeling hot all over my face and body. As I staggered to the toilet little tears rolls down my cheeks " what if they didn't try to save me? What if we all struggled, who was that man that lifted me and left my parents to drown?" As I asked myself these questions I cried with pain in me " it's all my fault I wouldn't have told Daddy to turn knowing he should have had his eye's on the road" Meanwhile Kate wakes Jeremy "Jeremy it's sunrise get up and get ready put on something nice", "stop it aunty, stop treating me like a child for God's sake I'm much older now" sarcastically moping, kate leaves and heads to Jane's room, knocks severaly but no response, opens the door she doesn't see anyone and calls out for Jane, goes to the toilet and finds jane there"oh my word dear you got me scared," not paying much attention to what was being said by my aunty I muttered " l'm sorry aunty it's all my fault I asked him to turn, I asked him to turn..." Constantly repeating myself kate embraces me and wipes my tears, " Jane we are all here for you, me and brother although I know I can't replace the position of your parents in your heart I will try my best to be here for you both, it isn't your fault for what happened that day you were much little then and you weren't aware my love, stop blaming yourself constantly for an accident that would have happened if God wanted so, your such a beautiful and loving child" I felt comfort in the hands of my aunty, she's been through alot trying to make me and my brother feel the love of family again. " Now get ready today is a new year, new beginnings, new memories should be made, meet new people, have fun even if it's just a little " after a while the whole family comes down, cassie and alexa where present also they all had a nice time chitt chatting, telling joke's etc" Jane we were thinking if u could come along let's go out, there's a bonfire party near the woods it will be fun" Jane stares at everyone "yeah Jane it will be fun please"Cassie begged ." Come on Jane follow your friends and have a little fun after all summer break would come to an end soon.

At the bonfire, under the starlight sky, Jane comes across a certain guy, their eyes met across the flickering flames, sharing a moment that felt like destiny has brought them together. The crackling fire seems to whisper secrets of future meetings yet to come, as if promising a continuation of a newfound connection. As they bid farewell for the night, little did they know that there

goodbye was the beginning of a beautiful journey waiting to unfold.

After the bonfire I returned home, went up the stairs that leads to my room, as I sat on my bed reflecting on all that took place during this few months, Jane takes up her diary and begin's to scribe " Dear diary today may have been a little of a difference from other days, starting from what happened that night...to this bonfire mystery person which seems to bring suspense around me... As the end of this summer approaches, all will soon come to an end, I hope the aching feeling burning in me would to and I have to make a choice now... As she ends, Jane takes a moment to stare at the bright twinkling star's in the sky, a hope of fulfillment, brightness, happiness filled the room.
