Chapter 3 - A drop of blood

at the night, when Moss was reborn as a child of blood and darkness

The boy proceeded to back away from the mob who has began to burn down the cabin he was in, he growled at them as he tried to intimidate them with his inhuman physical prowess to no avail. his words were indistinguishable... beast-like and has no coherent thoughts behind his actions.

a demon now both in actions and in flesh as he opened his mouth with 2 sharp fangs protruding in his mouth, the people were now convinced that he is nothing but a spawn of darkness which has no future in the human civilization, the boy attempted to dash out of the cabin through the windows but the knight order raised their shields to protect the mages who casted wind spells to throw him back to where he was.

blood, drool drip from his mouth as he growled when he stood back up from his crash into the cabin, not so long after a magic circle formed from under the cabin as it glowed in a bright light similar to the sun's blinding rays, flames bursts from the ground up engulfing the whole cabin into inextinguishable fire.

the howls of pain from the demon child can be heard as the flames continued to eat away the cabin, the boy's eyes melted form its sockets as his skin immediately turned into ashes exposing his bones as it chips away from his body, but not so long after this torture the flames abruptly stopped whilst the light of all the village's household has disappeared.

"What? what happened?! is the demon child dead?! what have you stupid mages done?!" the chief asked the mages where they concluded it wasn't them who has brought the town into apparent darkness, the moon's white veil seemed to turn into a dark red hue for a moment as it lit up the whole town.

"MY CHILD NO! NOT MY SON!" She wept as the cabin bursts into flames "MOSS!!!" She screamed her lungs out as the screams of the boy was heard from within the cabin but in an instant.

"what?"

"the flames it disappeared how?!"

"is the demon boy alive?!"

"M-my child is he still alive?!"

"Your child?"

"the book keeper has bore a demon child! A cursed lady shouldn't be alive!!!"

the chase has began to pursue the bearer of the demon child, yet the corpse of the demon child was nowhere to be seen even mana signatures from the pile of ashes from where the cabin sat shows no sign of a dead demonic entity anywhere.

"This is mage Albert the 2nd lieutenant leading the 23rd platoon of the Asphodel kin's extermination mission... the corpse that was warranted to be the direct kin of the queen has disappeared from the area... all mages within the area you are all advised to be more vigilant and to only report visuals... under no circumstance are you to engage in a skirmish against the target."

the Chief's face looked even more pissed as he grabbed the mage by his collar "THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?! I THOUGHT THE MILITARY FORCE OF THE MAGE KINGDOM WILL GUARANTEE THAT MY LAND IS DEMON FREE?!" The Lieutenant blinked as he seemed unfazed before grabbing the fat balding man's hand "We have tried our best to get rid of the as soon we could but we weren't able from the sudden mana disturbance... please understand what we do is in your best interest... now if you will excuse me I need to report to my higher ups..." the man with blue hair and an above average build with a charming face walked away as the chief remained fuming on the sidelines whilst the military force continued to search for the whereabouts of their target.

After a week since Moss went missing

Freeing... the wind

what is this...

where am I...

The green haired boy awoken inside someone's basement with an old European type of gas lamp, shelves filled with canned goods and and some are covered with dust, a box filled with miscellaneous things and another box filled with children's clothes... perhaps a son's.

Moss looked at it with indifference in his eyes, he looked around the place and it was night time when he peeked out at the tiny basement window that lets in a tiny bit of light, the moon it was a crescent that barely lets out any light in the woods that he was in, he looked around the basement and saw the futon he was laying on has a layer of thin wood underneath it albeit the futon was already used before him anyways.

he looked around more and heard dripping sound from the corner of the room, it was from their water storage he assumed as he peeked into the water puddle it has made, he saw a man with green hair, red eyes that has a golden tint in it, he looked at his body but it was still just of an average build, he looked around more and realized the stairs to the upstairs was just over his head, it was pulled with a string which he did.

a loud thud was heard and a door to the upstairs were revealed, he proceeded to the door as his steps creaked each step on his way to the door, a lady opened the door with a giant smirk on her face "whoa I thought he was gonna die... HEY HE'S ALIV-" before she even finished her sentence she was already coughing out blood with a huge hole in her chest exposing her innards from the boy who was unfazed by the situation, he reached out his hand as the blood from the woman's body collectively accumulated over his palm as a sphere.

"what happened to me... who am I..." he asked himself as the sphere of blood got assimilated into his body through his palm.

he heard 2 pairs of footsteps coming to his direction, they were talking about something they were really excited about "Hey the slave is still alive right? and there he is! look Agnes I told you he looks very high value! now go drug him already while he's still dazed!"

the woman annoyedly complied but before she even came near the boy a sharp point formed in her chest pointing at Moss, the women's eyes widened as they realized there was a corpse laying down on the floor "W-what? what are you?" Agnes asked "M-Mika help ME-" before she continued her sentence a hole was pierced through her chest whilst a new sphere of blood was formed over Moss' hand.

"I don't even know what I am... but something tells me that all of your kind are fodder made to serve my higher purpose..." The other woman tried to run but her chest burst open as well as her blood got assimilated by Moss, he didn't shed a sweat, or tear, or blood left from the now abandoned cabin in the woods.

"Maybe I could use my looks to lure out my prey... maybe I'll be able to thrive even more if I do so..." he remained expressionless as he looked around the home to see what else he can do there before he depart from the cabin...

Another week has passed

The boy who resides in the traffickers' residence has met an unfortunate twist of fate... meeting the leader of the 23rd platoon alone whilst the sun was about to set.

Moss stood under the shade of the tree with his face lacking any distinguishable emotions but the lieutenant was filled with anger in his heart and the smirk he had can only be describe as if it was looking at a wild animal whom just found the beast that killed his family "Mage 2nd Lieutenant Albert has vision with the target here at the edge of the forest of Les Bois de la Lune directly at the suspected trafficking cabin." He spat the young vampire's direction before pointing his wand at him "What are your last words you disgusting pest..."

Moss calmly looked around the forest looking for a way to escape the battle that is about to happen then he stared at the man in front of him, he smiled and gave the man a façade "I understand your anger... you must have lost your family as well from the demons... I can say the same since ever since I have become one nobody would stop hunting me down... I just wanted to see my mother again." his eyes widened as he slowly letting his guard down "No! there is no way you have your past memories."

Moss looked around himself and saw the signs that he was a book keeper before from the photo kept in his pocket "I just wanna live my life as a book keeper once more... I wont cause trouble..." he said with an almost pleading look, the 2nd lieutenant clicked his tongue as he completely lowered his guard, he walked towards Moss with a pair of handcuffs.

"If you try anything funny I will-" before he even finished his sentence a hole in his chest was already made, his blood was completely assimilated in seconds "Thank you 2nd Lieutenant..." Moss fell onto the floor as he felt the overwhelming density of mana from the mage, he fell to the floor still looking expressionless "I need to hide..." Crystal veins formed from the palm he used to assimilate the blood from the mage, he began coughing up blood as well, but the blood he coughed up was black with a pungent odor.

He looked around and back to the house he stayed in, and back to the forest, he shakily stood up as he felt the burning sensation from his crystal veins that formed over his hand, he screamed in pain before he tried ripping it off of his hand, but then he felt it inside his body, crystals forming in his blood stream slicing through his veins, he coughed up even more blood before he passed out...

The green haired boy awoken inside an interrogation room "As the 2nd in command of the platoon I could have ordered these men to kill you on sight... but we have to interrogate as per the ex-leader's commands to not initiate in a fight... now how did you manage to kill someone that powerful..."

Moss looked around the dark room and back to the interrogator, he gave him a pleading sad look "I'm sorry but I feel like I have lost my memory... I don't recall anything that has happened yesterday at all."

the man in front of Moss punched him on the face as he grabbed him by the collar "We have an establishment to research your kind in..."

Moss began tearing up as he looked back at the interrogator "Please I just want to see my mother again..." The interrogator clicked his tongue as he asked "What is her name then..." Moss went quiet as a look filled with rage manifested.

but he closed his eyes and his expressionless face came back he smirked as he stared at the man in front of him "Will anybody miss you if you were to die by my hands?" Moss boldly asked with a cocky smirk over his face, the interrogator slammed the other's head on the table before he placed a towel over his mouth "This is Julius the acting 2nd lieutenant of the 23rd platoon... please take away the demon out of the interrogation."

a group of 5 men came into the room casting restraining magic onto Moss, his arms and legs were chained as well as around his whole body was wrapped in golden chains, the clanks of the metal as it locked onto place makes Moss give the other mages with an even more cocky grin "Once I have healed from the mana rebound... I don't guarantee anybody will be alive here..." he gave them an unsettling blank face.

one of the mages knocked the restrained Moss out cold "Subject has been given a concussion we will now proceed with the transport..."
