As they approached one of the sites, they spotted a group of cultists performing a ritual around a makeshift altar. The air was thick with dark energy, and the ground seemed to pulse with malevolence.
"We need to stop them," Natasha whispered, her eyes locked on the cultists.
John nodded. "We'll take them by surprise. On my signal."
They moved silently, positioning themselves for a coordinated attack. John signaled, and they sprang into action, taking the cultists by surprise. The battle was fierce but brief, their training and teamwork giving them the upper hand.
With the cultists defeated, they dismantled the altar and destroyed the runestones. The dark energy dissipated, leaving the site cleansed and silent.
"Another one down," John said, his voice filled with determination. "Let's move to the next site."
