Bang! Bang!! Bang!!!
The loud knock on my front door jolts me out of my sleep. I don't bother getting out of bed, since the last thing I need right now is someone disturbing the little peace I have managed to find.
I toss to the other side to continue with my sleep, but the knock comes again. Who could it be, though?
Without hesitation, I head towards the door, hoping it isn't one of my nosy neighbours. I haven't mentioned my mom's death to anyone except close friends. However, knowing how bad news travels faster than the speed of light, I won't be surprised if they have heard.
It happens to be Chloe. The sympathy in her gaze makes me succumb to more tears.
She immediately encircles her arms around my body and pulls me into a hug. "I'm so sorry, baby."
"Why would she leave me all alone? Doesn't she realize how much crazier my life is about to get?" I ask her the rhetorical question, somehow expecting a reasonable answer from her.
