"Once upon a time, there was a child. One day, this child found themselves all alone. Unable to bear the solitude, the child cried incessantly, longing for their mother to come and rescue them from this loneliness. However, neither the mother nor anyone else came to save the child from their solitude. The child continued to cry every day, and this went on for days. Finally, the child encountered another child, a girl. Seeing the girl, the child was so captivated that all their crying ceased. The girl reached out her hand, wanting to save the child from this loneliness. The child was bewildered, unsure if trusting the girl was the right move. Before the child could answer these questions, the girl grasped their hand. The child was filled with a different feeling, free from loneliness and filled with beautiful emotions. The child was certain that they would escape loneliness with this girl. As they got to know the girl, they learned that she was also lonely, just like them. Together, they managed to overcome their loneliness. Thus, the two children embarked on adventures together. The girl was intelligent and talented, and with each passing moment, the child found themselves liking her more. The girl reminded the child of their mother. One day, while playing in the mud, they encountered another child who was in a bad state. The child felt sorry for the other and immediately reached out to help, with the girl supporting them. The child who had escaped the mud thanked them and then asked to stay with them. The child began to think. Would having someone new be good? But refusing the child's request seemed impossible. After all, the other child was also alone. They took them in. Over time, the child realized that this decision was a mistake because the other child was harming their lives. However, the child couldn't blame the other child and felt they had no choice but to keep them around. They couldn't bear to kick the other child out and condemn them to loneliness. The child knew loneliness all too well and couldn't bring themselves to make someone else feel that way. But in doing so, the child made a grave mistake. The other child left them behind and escaped. The child and the girl found themselves trapped in a trap. The child was filled with strange feelings. In this situation, the girl held the child's hands and spoke comforting words, as she always did. The child relaxed, realizing that the girl was their true friend. They began to think of ways to escape from there. Time was limited, so they had to act quickly. Finally, an idea occurred to the child. The girl hugged them, knowing that the child would find a solution. The child smiled and hugged the girl back. And in the end, they escaped the trap together..." Amy closed the small book in her hand.
"Mother, what happened to the other child? Or what was the trap? Were the girl and the child able to be happy?"
"Kenshin, it's bedtime now. Don't worry, you'll learn the answers to all of that."
Amy started to stroke Kenshin's hair.
"But but..."
"Ah, alright Kenshin, I'll give you a little spoiler."
Kenshin's eyes lit up with joy. He was curious about every detail of the story his mother had told him.
"The child grew up to become a hero. Just like you." Amy booped Kenshin's nose with her finger.
"Like meeee?"
"Yes, a little hero just like you."
"Am I a hero, mother?"
"You're definitely my hero, Kenshin."
"Yes, I will be my mother's hero."
"You already are, little Kenshin."
"But but no-"
"Alright, that's enough. It's bedtime now."
"Okay, mother."
"Well done, my little Kenshin." Amy pulled Kenshin into her arms and began to snuggle.
"Mother, what about the girl?"
"Ah, you're asking too many questions, little Kenshin. Let's go to sleep, please."
"O- okay, mother. As a hero, I should listen to my mother. Otherwise, I can't be a hero."
"Hehe, well done to my hero. Let's have a good sleep together."
"Yes, a nice sleep with my mother."
The two drifted into a deep sleep beside the small book filled with blank pages. This story was entirely Amy's creation, and Kenshin had thoroughly enjoyed listening to his mother's tale.
