Alan got into a regular routine. He did his daily chores in the early morning, start practicing the weapons, went throught different forms of fighting methods till the noon.
After lunch he will do some reading and writing. Then discuss various topics with his grandmother. He was getting better and better every day and his grandmother felt that she does not have anything else to teach him!
Once this thought occurred, she sighed inwardly. She had made sure that her grandson will not be considered an ignorant child when he starts living with other children of his age.
" I had raised him over protectively initially. I forgot that kids will be curious in nature. They will be eager to know and learn about everything they see or the things they even hear about". The Old Lady shook her head upon her earlier action and smiled bitterly.
Alan, infact was different from other kids of his age. She concluded. He was the most observant, intelligent and strong child she had ever seen in her life.
She had seen him kill wild bear nearly 10 feet tall with his bare hands, seen him kill the red eyed tiger, a type of wild best with powerful built which can even kill even a fully grown strong man with a single paws strike with his hunting knife. Seen him shooting the wooden arrow into the head of white deer from more than a hundred meter distance.
Even after all that he had never took pleasure in the killing. He only killed wild beasts which came towards them with the killing intent. He killed the big games only to have his meal and not for fun.
Looking at the progress he had shown in past 2 year she was simply overwhelmed. She had even started considered him as an adult from the way he carried himself and the way he had taken over all the responsibilities from her. She simply had hard times believing that he is still a child who had not even seen his 10th birth year. What a surreal feeling, she thought to herself.
She knew the time to leave this place which called home for more than 30 years now is nearing and she was somewhat looking forward to it.
After her husband's death she had decided to stay in this pace till she drew her last breath as this was the place where her husband lived peacefully and died happily.
She didn't had any children of her own and that was her only regret in this life. But then Alan enterd her life all of a sudden more than 9 year ago. She was ecstatic and decided to care for him. And raise him as her own grandchild. At this moment she felt blessed in this life.
"Grandma.. come, lets have lunch, Alan called her. She came out from train of her thoughts and they had their lunch together.
Alan went to take out a book to read, but he turned arround with a look of determination in his eyes. He still felt conflicted whether to ask his grandmother about the matter which was bothering him for many years now .
