After leaving his parents house, Alan took the highway and was cruising in his Harley Davidson at 80 miles. He loved biking and used to go on long rides often, before he got married to Lucy.
After marriage, biking took a back seat as Lucy was not an adventure loving girl and alway preffered car over bikes. She would always be worried when Alan went for any bike trips.
So he decided not to ride the bike often and only took it out occasionally as he didn't want to sell his bike. Which was his only link to have any semblance of adventure. It held lot of memories in his life. It was the first vehicle he had purchased after getting a job. The first vehicle in which he took Lucy on a date and had many long rides with his friends.
"Oh sh!t, I fogot to get the term insurance again. I have to take it today at any cost." Alan thought to himself.
Upon reaching the office the first thing Alan did was to take a term insurance of 10 million dollars for himself making his wife nominee for 50% and his parents for the remaining 50%. After that, he sighed with relief, "Now I don't have to worry about my family's future if something was to happen to me."
After that, he paid all his pending insurance bills, Diana's school fee and his parents medical insurances.
For some odd reason Alan felt incredibly relaxed that moment. He was happy to have fulfilled all his duties towards his family, his loved ones which was his life's priority.
"Hey John!, I will be going for today's meeting at 5pm... Yes I will be taking the contract while going and it will be submitted to Mr. Mark .... Ya I know this is the biggest contract of our company. I hope I get my incentive soon..... Alan was on a call with his General Manager discussing about that days meeting.
"Alan, there is a team meeting in the conference room in 15 min. Director Murfy told me to inform you." Sena, his Managing Director's PA informed Alan.
"Sure, I will be there, Sena." Alan told her. After speaking for a few more minutes over the mobile he disconnecting the call with John who was on sick leave that day.
As soon as Alan opend the conference room door, he was greeted with a loud noise...
"Congratulations" all the people inside the room applauded loudly, cheering Alan.
Alan was shocked for a moment but was elated with this surprise from his collages.
"Congratulations on securing the biggest contract in the history of our company, Alan. I have to say, the profit margin this time is also one of the best we had ever had. As per the company's policy you are getting this Incentive for the order closed. Here you go...." Director Murfy handed over an envelope to Alan.
Alan thanked his Director and his colleagues for their support and after a few more congratulations and thank you's, everyone went back to their seats.
Once Alan took his seat, he opend the envelope and was shocked to see a letter and two cheques inside it.
Alan was unable to process the contents inside the envelope for a few minutes. Then he took a couple of deep breaths and went to an empty meeting room to go through the contents of the envelope properly.
He took out the Letter first and went through it. He was so surprised that, he read the content of the letter several times to make sure he was not dreaming.
It read
" Congratulations Mr. Alan,
In recognition of your hard work for all these years in this organization, and considering all the recent development and the progress of our organization into account, we would love to take this opportunity to inform you that you have been promoted as a "Senior Manager-Sales".
Your Salary will be revised and a hike of 40% will be given as per your new position and market standards. Salary break-up is attached along with this letter.
You will also find 2 cheques along with this letter. 1st one will be the Incentive for the closed order and the second one is a personal bonus given for your outstanding performance in this financial year."
Alan was so happy reading the letter that, he forgot to see the cheques.
There was one more shock waiting for him when he saw the cheques in his hand!!!
Alan's mouth was hanging down when he saw the values shown on the cheques!!!
He came back to his sense and realised that he had never held the sum that had mentioned in these cheque at once in his life.
The total value of the cheques were a staggering amount of 700,000$.
He then saw his revised salary and felt ecstatic.
He saw the time on his watch and it was almost 2pm. He got up from the chair, went to his workplace got his lunch box and went to the cafeteria to have his lunch. After that, he got his bag, collected the signed contract from the concerned department and went out of the office for the meeting scheduled for that evening.
It was almost a 2 hours drive to his client's place at the Business district. He started at 2.30 pm from his office.
On his way, he visited the bank and deposited both cheques to his account and then gave instructions to the bank employee in the counter to transferred 500,000$ to his and his wife's joint account and remaining 200,000$ to his parents joint account. After that he left towards his destination for the meeting.
He was as usual on time for the meeting. Meeting went on without any issues. After meeting, Alan further discussed regarding the project work with the clients representative and shared the MOM to his project team.
By the time he packed his things and saw his watch, it was already 8 pm in the evening.
