"Alpha Fernando," welcoming the head of the Alpha into his pack, he stretched out his hand for a shake but Fernando ignored it and said, "Let's get down to business, I don't have all day." Waking into the pack's house without looking back.
"That jerk!" Annoyed, Alpha Jason cursed but was quick to compose himself, before following Alpha Fernando. He couldn't wait for his plans to finally succeed, if only Fernando knew what was coming his way, then he wouldn't be this arrogant.
Leading him to the living room, guards from both Jason's pack and Fernando's pack were stationed in the corner of the room, their eyes fixated on the ongoing deal.
Alpha Fernando was the head of the Alphas for a reason, if he felt threatened, Jason knew his life could be in danger, so he wasn't going to take chances while with him.
If he needed to fight back then he wouldn't hesitate too, maybe he would be able to eliminate the biggest threat to all packs today.
"So? Why was I called?" Going straight to the point, Fernando asked, his gaze strict as he demanded.
"I am surprised you came, thanks for honoring my invitation." Smiling warmly at Fernando, Jason said, wanting to sweet talk him but it wasn't working, so he stopped smiling and cleared his throat nervously. Maybe, inviting Fernando over was a big mistake, things weren't going as he planned.
"I didn't honor your invite, I was passing by and decided to stop for some minutes and those minutes are gradually fading, Alpha Jason." Bluntly, Fernando said, his words carrying an underlying meaning as he talked. If it weren't for the business he had outside the country, he wouldn't be here.
If this greedy Alpha kept on wasting his time, then he would have to resort to using dominance. After all, the only way to invoke fear was to display dominance. It was something werewolves loved doing, they did it to protect their pack and it was always useful unless the Alpha was a weakling.
"Right! Alpha Fernando, I would like to ask for your sister's hand in marriage." Jason said and it made everyone from Fernando's pack turn stiff. For an odd reason, Jason could feel that his offer affected them.
What was wrong with what he said? Arranged marriages between different packs were still very accepted, why were they looking at him like he requested for someone's head?
Leaning back into his chair, Fernando rubbed his palm against each other and chuckled, causing Jason to gulp hard. That chuckle sounded bloody.
"Alpha Jason, you want my sister to get married to one of your sons? I am sure you know I only have one blood-related sister, could she be the one?" Calmly, he asked.
"Ermm…Ye…yes Alpha Fernando, I want Gloria to get married to my youngest son." Stammering, Jason mustered up the courage to talk and repeated.
After a moment of silence, Fernando leaned forward and said, "I see. I was told you were a greedy man, I never knew you added foolishness to it." Standing up, he dropped his hands in his pocket and added, "I admit that you are fearful, but I won't forgive you for disrespecting me. This pack needs a new Alpha anyways," it was obvious Alpha Fernando was angered, so Jason quickly went to his knees and started begging.
"Alpha Fernando, please forgive my impudence. I don't know what I might have done wrong to offend you but please overlook it just this time." Asking for Fernando to spare him.
Scoffing, Fernando glared down at him and said, "Why not find out in the afterlife?"
Mate! Danger! Suddenly, Fernando's senses blacked out, and all he could hear was a strange voice in his head. As if knowing what that call meant, he started walking towards the pack's exit, wanting to avoid something he would later regret, but the call got stronger.
Mate!! Danger!! Danger!! The call rang louder in his mind, causing him to stumble backward, but was caught by his right handed man, Beta Phillips, before he could fall to the floor.
"Alpha, what's wrong? What have you done to him?" Thinking they poisoned him, his right-handed man, Phillips said, staring daggers at Jason.
"What? I haven't done anything. What's up with Alpha Fernando?" He shot back, standing to get a better look.
Big Danger! Our mate! Amid their banter, Fernando felt an irresistible summons that stirred an unfamiliar fear within him. Even when he faced a volcano in combat against their enemy, he had never feared anyone, and always emerged victorious. But this was different. It felt as though directed at someone else, not himself.
Removing Phillips hand, he followed the call, proceeding deeper into the pack house.
I detest...
This world is harsh...
Mother…
He tracked the source of the call, hearing fragments of incomplete sentences from a faint voice, but fading before he could comprehend its meaning.
After navigating several turns, he ascended to the rooftop, where the call gradually faded.
Taking a deep breath, he scanned for the source and found her, unclothed, standing on the rooftop's edge, parts of her body dirty, and appearing malnourished.
Irritated that she had been the one behind the summoning, he approached her, taking hold of her hand, which prompted a scream.
"Why? Weren't you planning to jump? Why the sudden fear of falling?" His voice was cold, eyes emotionless, completely devoid of life.
Terrified, Angel tried to pull her hand away, but his grip remained steady, unwavering.
"Let go, Sir. What I plan to do is none of your business," she snapped back, ignorant of the consequences of her rudeness.
