Three hours later, Edward woke up; his head was heavy, and his vision blurred. The chandelier's light felt like the sun, almost blinding him, causing him to close his eyes. Everything stopped when something soft touched his cheeks.
"Go back to sleep... Don't worry about anything, Edward. From now on, you won't have to do anything," a short chuckle followed as the princess continued, "When you wake up, I promise to fulfill even your silliest wishes, so for now, rest." At that moment, Edward felt something on his chest—the princess's head. With each passing second, he fell into a deep sleep.
Two days passed, and Edward finally woke up, sitting on his bed. He placed his feet on the floor, and although his vision was still blurry, it didn't hinder him from seeing around. Something was odd—he seemed smaller, and the chandelier's light, once resembling the sun, was now absent.
The door to the room opened. "Oh, you're awake!" an excited voice exclaimed.
Edward quickly tried to locate the door, saying, "Yes, and it seems like my body is lighter than ever! Anyway, good morning, Jennie."
"Huh? Jennie? Who's that?" The girl rushed out of the room, shouting, "Oh, Mom! Edward is delirious!"
"What? This voice, now I remember." Edward shook his head and ran toward the girl, embracing her with tear-filled eyes. "It's really you, you little rascal! I thought I'd never see you again! Hahaha."
"I said it jokingly... But I guess you really aren't okay. Did you eat something spoiled by any chance?" Edward's sister spoke, hitting his chest and pushing him back. Looking at her brother's tearful expression and the cheerful smile on his face sent a shiver down her spine.
"Mom!!! Where's dad's gardening scissors?" After saying this, she looked at Edward again. "I don't know what happened, but it's better to stay away from me today, brother..." She started running, but before disappearing from Edward's sight, she stopped.
"Oh, I remember... Mom said you should get ready and come have breakfast. Our vacation ended yesterday, and today, I'm going to the same school as you. So, get back to being the weirdo I know." After saying this, she ran off to the kitchen.
"Why were you asking about the gardening scissors?" Their mother asked.
"Ah... just wanted to know if I can take them to the gardening club today." The sister replied, sitting at the table.
Meanwhile, in Edward's room.
"Why did I cry so much? And who the hell is Jennie?" Edward stood in front of the mirror in his bathroom, looking at his reflection. The memories of the last five days were a complete blur, except for a few things. However, all of them were too absurd to be true, like facing hundreds of lava monsters at once.
"Ugh... I must have spent these five days just watching anime; it can't be anything else. I think I should take a break for a while." Edward said, leaving the bathroom and going straight to his wardrobe. He dressed in his uniform, grabbed his things, and went directly to the kitchen, having his breakfast. He said goodbye to his mother and father before leaving the house.
"That's strange; for some reason, my heart hurts..." Edward spoke, tightening the collar of his uniform.
"Be careful not to have a heart attack, hahaha... delirious in the morning... Thinking about an invisible girlfriend... Hehehe." After his sister said this, the two quickly left their house and headed towards the school, stopping only when the traffic light turned red.
"Look, it seems like you've improved... Are you sure you stayed up until dawn again? You must have been seeing things wrong, right? Ugh, just thinking about it gives me the creeps." Edward's sister spoke, crossing her arms.
"And you, thinking nonsense! You brat, I'll tell Mom you're talking too much nonsense for your age." Edward said, hitting his sister's head with his fist.
"I don't know what you're talking about, and you left your computer on that time." His sister shrugged when she saw the traffic light turn green. "Oh, come on, let's go! If we're not fast, we'll be late."
"Changing the subject, huh? Well, whatever, let's just go then." Edward spoke, watching his sister running to cross the street when a horn was heard. At that moment, Edward's mind went blank; he let go of his bag and ran towards his sister, pushing her out of the way, taking the hit from the bus in her place.
Countless screams were heard, and all the people nearby ran to try to help or see what happened. They were met with a tragedy; fortunately, one of the teenagers survived while the other did not resist.
A bright white light hit Edward's head, waking him up. When he opened his eyes, he was in an entirely white place, floating a few meters above the ground. A beautiful woman was looking at him intently.
"Brave warrior, your life should not end so abruptly. Because of your sacrifice for your beloved sister, without even thinking twice, I will give you the opportunity for a second life, which can restore the life that was taken from you so abruptly." The goddess landed in front of Edward, placing her hand on his head, and with a gentle smile, she asked, "Great Hero, are you okay?"
"Litty... Litty... Litty, you BITCH!" At that moment, something no one ever expected happened: a mere human made a goddess fly due to his punch.
"What the hell do you think you're doing? Bringing me back to earth just to hinder me again? Is it some fetish of yours, you wretch? Oh, wait... last time, my sister wasn't in danger. Was your target this time my sister? Are you trying to make her go through all that hell?" Edward spoke, running towards Litty.
On that same day, a goddess was almost killed by an enraged human.
