Chapter 4 - Useless Goddess (1)

Edward rubbed his head, saying, "Damn, it won't help to keep hitting you; I'm dead anyway." Letting out a sigh, he looked at Litty, who was kneeling on the ground.

"You say that after giving me a facelift, huh?" Litty touched her face with her hand, a small golden light emanating from her fingers, restoring her face to normal. "Seriously, did you have to hit me so much? I'm a goddess, you know? And why did you hit me? And how is it possible? You're just a human," Litty spoke, looking at Edward from all angles, stopping in front of him and touching his chest.

"For a teenager, you have a well-defined body... " Litty spoke with wide eyes, now touching Edward's abdomen.

Litty quickly noticed Edward's disgusted look, and before she could say anything, he had already started speaking, "Litty, did you take your medication today? Why are you pretending to be demented?"

"Huh? What are you talking about? It doesn't make sense; a goddess has no reason to take medicine and can't even... " Edward's fixed gaze made Litty stop talking.

"What's happening? Come on, tell me the reason for all this crap. Why even think about asking me to save another world? I've been through hell to save that one," Edward spoke, pressing his finger against Litty's forehead, who knelt in front of him.

Scratching her cheek, Litty said, "Relax... it wasn't because of that, even though this shouldn't be happening." Litty's eyes turned to the right, avoiding looking directly at Edward.

"So why did you make me die again? And I shouldn't even be on Earth; why did you send me back?" Edward spoke, pushing his finger into her cheek.

"Hahaha... so you remember everything?" Litty asked, looking with a face covered in cold sweat as a wave of shame flooded her body.

Edward put his hand on his chin, "Hmmm... I hardly remember anything about my life on Earth." He shrugged.

"Oh? Seriously? It must be post-death amnesia, haha," Litty spoke, "It must be why you're confusing me with someone."

"Oh no, you didn't let me finish," Edward put his hands on her shoulders. "Because I remember in detail the nearly twenty years I had in the other world."

"Huh? Are you okay? I remember seeing on your profile that you only had a very long dream," Litty said with suspicion, as she didn't do her job of checking how he was doing.

"It's not impossible; after all, I lived as the son of a nobleman and spent fifteen years studying and training non-stop. I was their pride, and when I entered the magic academy at sixteen, I finally could walk and eat without a teacher, but it didn't last a year, and an army of demons invaded the kingdom," Edward raised four fingers and continued, "That was the number of days I had a normal life. After that, I had to face demons daily. I couldn't even continue school, and I couldn't even count on help from others because of the war and the mortal danger I brought."

Sighing, Edward continued, "Unfortunately, there were some idiots who tried to help me. Every day, from dawn to dusk, I was attacked in every possible way by the demon king's minions. I couldn't even sleep properly, being awakened by their presence, and this lasted for three years." Edward lightly slapped Litty's face and held her by the fabric of her clothes.

"Do you understand what you did? Just when this hell ended, just when I was about to have a life again, you took it away from me, and then you did it again... Why? I told you not to send me back, and yet you did, and now look where I am in front of you again," Gritting his teeth, Edward pulled Litty's face very close to his, making their foreheads touch, and he said, "Now look into my eyes and tell me why you did this?"

Hearing all this with a paralyzed face, Litty spoke inaudibly.

"Huh? Speak up, damn it," Edward spoke, looking deep into her eyes.

The sound of Litty swallowing hard was heard, and her next words shocked Edward so much that he lost strength in his arms, letting her fall to the ground. What did she say?

"Sorry... I didn't mean to do that, and I forgot to turn off the automatic return spell."
