"You're really an idiot..." Edward said as he watched a black mass hand descend from the ceiling, bringing a sheet of paper and a pen for the professor.
"Well... Well... How bothersome... how bothersome," the professor spoke, writing quickly on the sheet and handing it back to the black mass hand.
"Alright, today's class is over; you can go to the next one," the professor said, waving his hand for everyone to leave the room. Then, he remembered something important, "Oh, right, I forgot to introduce myself to you."
"You're remembering that just now?" Several students shouted together.
"Well, it's a bother to tell my name to others... Anyway, my name is Darien, so remember it because I won't say it again... Now, leave; I want to sleep." After saying this, Darien disappeared from in front of the students along with the desks and targets.
"So, what classes are we having now?" Edward asked.
"World and Magical Beasts Biology," Mine replied.
After that, the other classes proceeded normally.
In the class on magical beasts and nature biology, all students managed to pass the first test without any difficulty, which involved pulling a mandrake from the ground without waking it up. However, two people had some trouble. One was Michael, whose mandrake not only woke up but screamed louder than ever, causing Professor Elivian to fall asleep.
The other was Amelin, who, upon pulling the mandrake from the ground, made it snore, something that only happens when the mandrake doesn't even realize it has been uprooted.
After that, the other classes continued with the same pattern, with Michael having the worst result and Amelin having the best.
"Ah, it's finally over, but it's a shame we didn't have a summoning class today. I wanted to summon a pet already," Sillian said, thinking of a round and cute red dragon.
"It would indeed be good; they say they are great training partners," Amelin said, imagining a huge white tiger with blue flames coming out of its mouth.
"I don't know how you guys have so much energy..." Mine said, standing to Edward's right.
"I agree; right now, I just want to take a shower and sleep," Edward said, moving his right arm.
"Anyway, classes are over; see you tomorrow, Edward," Sillian said, taking Amelin and Mine's hands and starting to walk towards the female dormitory.
Edward looked around, sighed, and began walking towards his room. "So now that everything is over, do you want to know my plan, or have you figured it out after what happened in class?"
"I'm a bit sleepy... Never expected to feel this just because it's night..." Litty, after speaking, shook her head. "Alright, go ahead; I think I understood. You want to be the second best. But what does that change?"
Edward shook his finger, starting to speak, "No one really cares about who's in second place, especially when the first and last are much more flashy."
"I don't think that's true..." Litty said thoughtfully, leaning to the side.
"You saw it yourself. Currently, in our class, the talk is about how strong Amelin is; they even call her the perfect girl. As for the show-off and useless Michael, everyone who was behind him based on potential has now abandoned him, and only those who truly understand its value still talk to him but at a certain distance," Edward stopped speaking, looking out the window, seeing someone holding a wooden sword walking towards the training field.
"You just forgot that this so-called perfect girl literally didn't leave your side all day... Long..." Saying this, Litty's eyes widened, and she gave Edward a smile, patting his head several times. "You son of a b****. Being in second place will show those flies your warning so they know their place while being next to someone who shines as much as Amelin, practically overshadowing them."
"Exactly, Litty. This way, I don't have to endure those vermin while having a peaceful life. If anything tries something against me, I just need to crush it," Edward said, stopping in front of his room, grabbing the doorknob, and smiling. "Everything is settled; now I just need to live in peace while the useless protagonist does his job."
"Although you stole three important things from him, hehe," Litty said, laughing, teasing Edward.
"I didn't mean to, and they aren't anyone's. Soon they will get tired of being by my side," Edward said, opening the door, and at that exact moment, something unexpected happened, something that neither he nor Litty expected.
The window of his room was completely shattered, and something at an absurd speed flew towards them. Reflexively realizing that it was a person with a massive killing intent, Edward threw a single punch, hitting the face and sending them straight to the ground, knocking them out instantly.
"These damn extras. It's not even a day, and they've come after me!? Don't you have any fear of death?" Edward said, fuming with anger because if this happened so quickly, it meant that his peaceful life wouldn't happen so soon.
"Who is the idiot who came after you?" Litty said, flying out of Edward's head to the ground, detaching from the boy's head. "Edward... You didn't hit an extra but the protagonist."
"What? What did you say?"
