Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 - Unexpected hunger

As Alisha's anger continued to simmer within her, an unexpected hunger began to gnaw at her insides. It was a hunger that could not be appeased by mere mortal sustenance. She scoured the garden, her eyes darting across the familiar terrain, desperately seeking something to quell the growing emptiness.

Frustration mounted as she found no solace within the confines of her home. With a resolute determination, Alisha made a choice that would lead her into the depths of the unknown. She slipped out into the enveloping darkness, guided solely by the moon's ethereal glow.

Her steps were deliberate but silent, a predator stalking its prey. The night seemed to come alive around her, the sounds of nocturnal creatures echoing through the air. Alisha's senses heightened, her vision adjusting to the dimly lit surroundings.

And then, there it was—a flash of movement, a small creature darting through the underbrush. A rabbit, unsuspecting and unaware of the danger that lurked behind. Alisha's instincts took over, her human façade fading as she succumbed to the primal urges coursing through her veins.

With lightning speed, she lunged forward, her body transforming in mid-air. The chase was on, the chase of survival and sating her newfound hunger. The rabbit darted frantically, its heart pounding in sync with Alisha's own.

As the moonlight filtered through the trees, casting an eerie glow on the scene, Alisha closed the distance, her fangs bared and her eyes reflecting the moon's crimson hue. In a flurry of motion, she pounced, teeth sinking into the soft flesh of her prey.

Her instincts took over completely, erasing any semblance of humanity that remained. She devoured the rabbit with a ferocity and single-mindedness that bordered on the feral. The taste of warm blood filled her mouth, providing a momentary respite from the anger that had consumed her.

But as the last remnants of the rabbit disappeared down her throat, a moment of clarity washed over Alisha. The reality of her actions began to sink in, intertwining with the anger and confusion that still coursed through her veins. What had she become? Was this her true nature now, a creature driven by primal urges and bloodlust?

Alisha's breath came in ragged gasps as she gazed down at the lifeless body of the rabbit. The moon, now obscured by a passing cloud, seemed to mock her, its light no longer a source of comfort but a reminder of the darkness that now resided within her.

Torn between fear and acceptance, anger and remorse, Alisha stood there, her mind swirling with a whirlwind of emotions. She was no longer the same person she had been before Joel's bite. The path she had chosen led her down a treacherous road, one that would challenge her humanity and test the limits of her self-control.

Alisha stood there, the remnants of the rabbit's taste lingering in her mouth, a mixture of satisfaction and dread washing over her. The internal struggle within her intensified, and she found herself engaged in a deep conversation with her own thoughts.

"Why did this happen to me?" Alisha's voice echoed through the night, filled with a mix of anger and despair. "I didn't ask for this. Joel cursed me, and now I'm trapped in this nightmare."

The wind rustled through the trees, seemingly carrying a whisper of an answer. Alisha strained to listen, her heart pounding in her chest.

"No," she muttered, shaking her head defiantly. "I won't accept this. I refuse to become a monster, driven solely by instinct and bloodlust."

But even as she spoke those words, doubt crept into her mind. Images of the rabbit's lifeless body flashed before her eyes, and she couldn't deny the rush of power she had felt during the chase. It was intoxicating, primal, and a part of her feared that she would crave it again.

"I can't control it, can I?" Alisha's voice wavered with uncertainty. "No matter how hard I resist, the beast within will always emerge. I'll forever be at its mercy."

A pang of sadness tugged at her heart. Alisha had always prided herself on her self-control, on her ability to navigate through life with reason and compassion. Now, she felt like a stranger in her own skin, disconnected from the person she once was.

"What am I going to do?" Alisha's voice cracked with a mixture of desperation and anguish. "How can I live like this? How can I face the people I love, knowing what I've become?"

She looked up at the moon, its red glow piercing through the clouds. It was a haunting sight, a constant reminder of the curse that had befallen her.

"Joel," Alisha whispered, bitterness seeping into her voice. "He did this to me. He thrust this existence upon me without my consent. How could he have been so callous? So careless?"

The anger within her swelled, fueled by the sense of betrayal she felt towards Joel. He had unleashed this darkness upon her, and now she had to bear the consequences.

"I won't let him get away with it," Alisha declared, her voice laced with determination. "I'll find him, confront him, and demand answers. He needs to take responsibility for what he's done."

But deep down, a part of her knew that confronting Joel might not bring the closure she sought. The damage had been done, and there was no turning back time. Alisha had to face the reality of her new existence and find a way to reconcile it with who she truly was.

As she stood there, her emotions swirling and her thoughts racing, a glimmer of hope flickered within her. She realized that she couldn't let her anger and despair consume her. There had to be a way to regain control, to find a balance between the human and the beast within.

"I won't let this define me," Alisha said, her voice filled with newfound resolve. "I'll find a way to harness this power, to embrace the gift I've been given and use it for good. I won't let it corrupt me."

The night air seemed to still, as if nature itself was listening to her proclamation. Alisha took a deep breath, her gaze steady and determined.

"I will find my own path," she declared, her voice ringing with conviction. "I won't let Joel's curse define me. I am stronger than this, and I will reclaim control over my destiny."

With that, Alisha turned away from the moonlit garden, her steps filled with purpose. The journey ahead would be treacherous, but she was no longer alone. She had herself, her inner strength, and the flicker of hope that burned within her.

And so, under the watchful gaze of the red moon, Alisha embarked on a quest of self-discovery, determined to forge her own destiny amidst the shadows of her newfound existence.

As the night wore on, Alisha found herself at a crossroads. Would she embrace this newfound existence, succumbing to the raw power coursing through her veins? Or would she fight against it, clinging to the remnants of her humanity and searching for a way to undo what had been done?

Only time would reveal the answer, but for now, Alisha stood alone in the dark, haunted by the consequences of her actions and the uncertain future that lay ahead.
