Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - Burning resentment

The next day, Alisha's eyes flew open, and she shot up in bed, her heart pounding in her chest. The room felt suffocating, and her body felt heavy and unfamiliar. As the realization of what had transpired the previous night washed over her, a scream escaped her lips, echoing through the silence of her room.

Frantically, she stumbled out of bed, her legs barely able to support her trembling frame. Fear gripped her tightly, constricting her throat and making it difficult to breathe. She stumbled towards the bathroom, desperate to confront the horrifying truth that awaited her there.

With each step, images of the night flashed before her eyes. The moon's ominous glow, the chase, the kill—they all replayed in her mind like a grotesque nightmare. She pushed open the bathroom door and stumbled inside, her eyes widening at the sight that greeted her in the mirror.

Her body was no longer that of a savage beast. She stood before the mirror, her human form restored, but the memories of her monstrous actions haunted her. The stench of blood still lingered in her nostrils, mingling with the sour taste of regret that rose in her throat.

Alisha fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face as the weight of her actions crashed over her. She retched, unable to contain the nausea that rose within her at the memory of consuming the innocent rabbit. The sense of revulsion and self-disgust overwhelmed her, leaving her feeling small and broken.

Alisha stumbled into the bathroom, her heart racing and her mind plagued with confusion. She leaned over the sink, her hands trembling as she splashed cold water on her face, desperately trying to wash away the remnants of the night before. The sight of blood staining her body sent a wave of nausea crashing over her, and she couldn't help but retch, a mixture of fear and disgust rising within her.

"What have I become?" Alisha whispered, her voice filled with self-reproach. "Last night... I hunted, I killed, and I fed on that rabbit. How could I have let myself succumb to such primal instincts?"

Tears welled up in her eyes as she stared at her reflection in the mirror, her face pale and haunted. The reality of her actions hit her with a force she couldn't ignore. She had lost control, surrendering to her inner beast without thought or hesitation.

"Why? Why did this have to happen?" Alisha's voice quivered with a mix of anger and anguish. "I didn't ask for this curse. I didn't choose to become a monster. I can't believe I actually ate that poor creature," Alisha murmured, her voice choked with guilt. "I'm a monster. No matter how hard I try to resist, the darkness within me takes over, and I'm left with the aftermath of my actions."

Her hands clutched at her hair, her body shaking with a mixture of fear, anger, and self-loathing. She had hoped that the transformation was a one-time occurrence, that it was just a terrible nightmare from which she would wake up unscathed. But the blood staining her body was a cruel reminder that her nightmare had become her reality.

"How can I face myself?" Alisha whispered, her voice filled with despair. "How can I look at myself in the mirror knowing what I've done?"

A mixture of anger and self-pity swirled within her, and she clenched her fists, frustration evident in her trembling hands. The weight of the curse seemed unbearable, its grip tightening around her with each passing moment.

"Why me?" Alisha's voice quivered with anguish. "Why did I have to be the one bitten by Joel? Was it just a cruel twist of fate, or did I somehow deserve this punishment?"

Questions raced through her mind, tormenting her with their relentless pursuit. She longed for answers, for some semblance of understanding in the chaos that had become her life.

The weight of guilt threatened to crush her, her shoulders sagging under its unbearable burden. She felt trapped, caught between her human self and the beast that lurked within, forever at war with her own identity.

"I have to find a way to break free from this curse," Alisha declared, her voice firm despite the uncertainty that plagued her. "I can't continue living like this, trapped between my human self and the insatiable hunger of the beast within."

She splashed more water on her face, hoping the coolness would calm her racing thoughts. But the truth remained, lingering in the depths of her soul. She was caught in a cycle of despair, torn between her desire for normalcy and the dark allure of her newfound power.

"I never asked for this power," Alisha muttered, her voice tinged with bitterness. "I never wanted to hurt anyone or lose control like that. It's Joel's fault. He did this to me."

Anger flared within her, directed at the one who had inflicted this curse upon her. She felt a burning resentment towards Joel, a seething rage that fueled her determination to find a way to break free from this wretched existence.

As she stared at her reflection, she made a silent promise to herself. Alisha vowed to seek knowledge, to uncover ancient wisdom and legends that could hold the key to her salvation. She would leave no stone unturned in her quest to break free from the clutches of her werewolf affliction.

"I won't give up," Alisha's voice resonated with a newfound strength. "I'll fight this curse, not just for myself, but for those I love. I refuse to let it consume me entirely."

With a resolute nod, she turned away from the mirror, her mind set on the path that lay ahead. Alisha knew it wouldn't be easy, but she was determined to face her darkest fears and discover the strength within her to conquer them. The journey would be arduous, but she had no other choice.

Armed with her unwavering resolve, Alisha took a deep breath and stepped out of the bathroom, ready to face the challenges that awaited her and reclaim her humanity, no matter the cost.
