As for how he knew he was a Vampire, well, most are noted for their Red eyes, they can be Scarlet, Vermillion, Soft Red or Crimson, the latter is noted for being the eye color of the Royal Family, although some illegitimate children or simply born that way because of mixtures and faults in their genes, so even though it is the greatest characteristic of current Royal Vampires, having one doesn't mean 100% that you are Royal, but about 90% chance that you are.
