Chapter 19 - Dorothy Hales

Seated in the noisy class, Sol pondered on how to deal with his current training problem. His condition makes it almost impossible for him to train efficiently, giving others an edge over him. The only solution in sight was to become the top student in the academy, but how is he meant to do that?

Bam.

The doors of the classroom yanked open, drawing the attention of all the students. The classroom, once noisy, was as silent as a graveyard as everyone gazed at the figure standing at the entrance.

It was a woman with gray hair dressed in native fur attire. On her waist was a curled whip and in her hand was a chain attached to the cage she came with.

It wasn't the instructor that was interesting, it was the person within the lady kept within the cage with her hands and legs bound that caught the attention of everyone.

[Name: Lyra Shadowdancer]

[Tier: One]

[Race: Shape shifter]

[Race Tier: Beast]

[Type: Ru-Destros]

[Title: Nil]

[Condition: Physical and hidden injuries detected]

[Status: Resentful]

Lyra is of average height with flowing ebony hair and piercing silver eyes. She exudes an air of mystery and grace, her features finely chiseled even with the injuries riddled all over her body.

Sol's eyes narrowed upon seeing Lyra in chains, and this left him wondering what was going on here. He could understand that alpha races were the strongest beast races at the moment, but does that give them the right to treat other beasts this way?

"Is this allowed?" Sol whispered to Kevin. He couldn't help but remember slavery back on Earth during its darkest days.

"Well, not everyone dares to go over the wall and gather slaves from other races, but there is no rule against it, so it happens," Kevin said in a tone indicating it was something normal.

Clank.

Sol returned his gaze to the steel cage being dragged along as the instructor walked down the stairs. For some reason, he felt an overwhelming rage threatening to erupt within him, but with the right amount of self-control, he was able to hide his feelings over a mask of indifference.

[Name: Dorothy Hale]

[Tier: Two]

[Race: Werewolf]

[Race Tier: Alpha]

[Type: Ru-Destros]

[Title: History Instructor of the Alpha Academy]

[Condition: Perfect condition]

[Status: Excited]

"I am Dorothy Hale of the mighty werewolf family." Dorothy began her introduction in a low but clear voice.

"A proud Beta of the pack." She said as she turned her attention to Derek of the alpha family and gave him a light respectful bow.

Derek smirked and nodded in approval of her actions. He was pleased by her public show of loyalty to the alpha family.

"A proud hunter," Dorothy said while still dragging Lyra along in the cage as she made her way toward her stand at the bottom of the class.

"Finally, a proud Beastologist Instructor of the academy." Dorothy Hale said she reached the bottom of the classroom.

With a casual fling, she tossed the cage into the arena behind her. Watching the cage fall into the arena, rolling numerous times with Lyra still within it, Sol felt so furious he almost let his killing intent slip for a moment.

The class however laughed at this act, leaving Sol shaken by the state of this world. While still on earth he always complained civilization had taken away important lessons regarding the true nature of the world, but now he was seated amongst those who believed in the true nature of the world, he realized the need for civilization.

"For today's class, I will be awarding a point to anyone capable of answering my questions and two points if you can go through with all the questions and a test," Dorothy said with an amused tone.

"Who is interested?" She asked, and many students raised their hands.

The academy used point systems for its ranking list. While a detailed explanation of the point system is yet to be made available to the students, they knew it was best to get as many points as possible.

Dorothy's gaze scanned through the numerous hand-waving and settled on Sol, who looked disinterested.

"You are the young master of the Sol family, am I correct?" Dorothy asked with a raised eyebrow.

"You seem to know already," Sol responded in a calm tone.

Dorothy seemed unmoved by his response and invited him on stage. At first, Sol felt the urge to reject, but then again he considered the benefits of gaining points, which would increase his chances of gaining better resources in the academy.

Sol left his seat under the gaze of everyone and walked down to the stage with his hands shoved deep into his pockets. As soon as he got down, Dorothy extended her hand to shake him, but Sol did not bother to remove his hands from his pockets. Instead, he responded with a question.

"I'm curious. It seems every instructor in this academy is hell-bent on toying with me. Who put you up to this?"

Sol's question left Dorothy and the other students shocked. The boldness of the Ark family heir is beyond everyone's expectations, especially for someone who has suffered greatly due to the seal.

It was expected he would be a bit mellow and meek.

"I don't know what you are talking about. Why would you ask such a question?" Dorothy responded with a forced smile on her face, but Sol cared little about what emotions may be hiding under the smile.

"I suggest you speak now, that way I'll know who to hold responsible when the time comes," Sol said.

Buzz!

Is he threatening the instructor?

Bold!

That was the thought in the mind of everyone including Katherine Tepes whose gaze was glued to Sol, as if she was curious to see every action he makes.

"I suggest you focus on your recovery, you will need it," Dorothy said in response to Sol's words.

A brief silence washer washed over the class as Sol and Dorothy locked eyes, both suppressing their hostility.
