Chapter 7 - Go on, stab me

Yeon Jin bit down on his lip. Beric was right. But what could he do? He wasn't a fan of fictional text so he didn't know how to go about this world.

Before, he tied Daniel down with a contract and since it was legally printed, if he happened to go against the contract, the law was there to support him.

But here... He didn't even know the law.

But one thing was for sure, the royal family called the shots.

Beric stared at Yeon Jin. A smirk played on his lips as he wondered what other silly words he was going to spill from his mouth.

Though he wasn't entirely convinced by his words stating that he was a foreigner in that body, he felt a bit convinced when he suddenly and confidently spoke of a contract, as if not knowing the details and requirements when asking for a contract.

A contract, in that world, was only formed between higher beings. It must be proposed by a party with higher power and the other party, who was lower in terms of power and strength, must accept it.

For example, a king of a great empire proposing a contract to a kind of another great empire who was lacking in some ways, be it military strength or financial prowess.

Or an aristocrat proposing a contract to a commoner - Though such instances were rare.

And another thing, the proposer of the contract always had more benefits compared to the receiver.

Beric's gaze fell on his sword in Yeon Jin's hand. It didn't look like he was struggling to carry it even when it was heavy. Only skilled knights could lift swords like that.

His eyes squinted. The thought of being bested by someone was displeasing. Not only were his powers nullified, he got punched and pushed back.

All that was a first for him and if there was someone like that all along in the Holy Empire, then the war would have certainly not ended with his victory.

'Maybe he's telling the truth.' he thought.

"Should I give up?" Yeon Jin suddenly asked, catching Beric's attention. "Maybe if I die now, I will wake up in my own body."

"Wise choice." Beric said and got up from his chair. "If you'll just let me," he advanced his steps towards him. "... I'll end your life really quick and..."

Yeon Jin lifted the sword, pointing it directly at him.

"Stay there." He said, fully at alert. "I didn't ask you to come closer."

An irk formed on Beric's forehead. Now he was taking commands from him. How much more did he have to endure?

"Screw this." He kept walking towards Yeon Jin.

"I said stay there."

Beric ignored his words and got to the tip of the sword.

"What? Do you think I'm scared of getting stabbed? I've been stabbed plenty of times to the point where I can no longer feel the pain." He took off his glove and tightly held the blades of the sword, causing Yeon Jin to gasp. "Go on, stab me."

Yeon Jin couldn't help but quiver. He was seeing the face and body of his lover and even when he knew fully well that he wasn't the same person, he couldn't stop himself from feeling pain as he watched his hand bleed.

"You may look like Daniel, speak like Daniel and even have eyes like him but I know... You aren't Daniel. So why..." He threw the sword aside. "Why is it so hard for me?"

Beric grinned. In the end, it was all a bluff since, as long as he looked like his lover, he wouldn't be able to do anything to him.

But suddenly, a heavy punch found its way to his face, making him stagger. He certainly did not expect that.

"Were you bluffing just now?" Beric asked him, referring to his words.

"No." Yeon Jin answered, glaring down at him. "I may not like the idea of you shedding blood with his face," he cracked his knuckles. "...but when I think of the fact that you held both men and women before me, I can at least do this much."

Beric got angry. He stormed towards Yeon Jin, pulled his hand and twisted it behind his back.

"Ack."

"Listen here, you. I've done more than enough playing along with your games. Now, if you want to live. You better do as I say."

"Then go ahead and kill me." Yeon Jin fearlessly proposed.

Beric wasted no time to take out another knife and positioned it over his neck.

"I won't make a mistake this time." He said.

'Oh no, he's actually going to do it. I was just bluffing.' Yeon Jin immediately thought back to their conversation, trying to find an excuse to live. "If you kill me now, you will never know what the Holy Empire is planning."

"Wow, where's the confidence you had when asking me to kill you?" Beric snickered. "I don't need you. I'll find other reasons to go to war."

"But still... I'm your best bet."

"You know, I don't like having a fatal weakness walking around. I'd feel better after killing you." He said,

"But still... "

"Besides, I don't know how to take you back to wherever you came from. There's only one way I know and that's knocking this body dead. Have a safe trip and I do hope you get to your destination." With that, he made to slit Yeon Jin's throat but then, the doors opened.

Two guys walked in and seeing an unexpected scene, they felt they had walked in at a bad time.

From their point of view, Beric was passionately holding a man in his arms. Their disheveled clothes and rough appearance gave them only one conclusion.

And that was Beric, their master, was having intercourse with the male spy. They definitely did not see the knife, neither did they see the face that was getting ready to embrace death.

"Sorry, we'll come back later." They quickly closed the doors and turned to each other.

"And I was beginning to wonder why he never bothered to take a lady to bed." One of them said,

"So he's interested in guys." The other added, nodding to this. "But why is he doing it with the spy?"

"I knew something was fishy when he suddenly said to transfer him to a room." They both paused. "He has a really pretty face, don't you think?"

"Let's just go."
