"I wonder how you are gonna achieve that when you said that Marley and Monalisa are not very fond of you due to your previous lies," Jillian countered. She turned and approached the girl's hospital room.
"Their hard feelings towards me is now a past tense now that you are here. They will have no other choice but to listen to me from now onwards," Brayden grinned like someone who had just convinced his girlfriend into saying yes to his proposal.
Entering the room, Jillian and Brayden met Marley and Monalisa watching a show on the enormous television screen hanging on the wall.
Because they practically came to the hospital with nothing Jillian and Brayden didn't have to stress themselves with packing.
While Brayden carried the injured Marley on his body, Monalisa clutched Jillian's hand as they made their way to the ground floor.
Because Brayden left the office in a haste without his driver, he had to drive them home from the hospital.
As he drove on the busy road, Brayden kept stealing glances at the three women occupying the backseat of his car.
Seeing the girls act so intimately with Jillian and behaved so well made Brayden jealous for some reason.
He has known the naughty girls ever since they were kids and he has been their legal guardian for more than a week but they have never treated him half as nice as they were doing with Jillian.
"I guess this is why people often say that mothers are special. It's hurts so bad that I never got to experience such a feeling as a kid," Brayden murmured feeling a bit sentimental.
"What did you say?" Jillian who heard Brayden muttered words she couldn't hear clearly asked for clarification.
"I said we are almost home," Brayden lied without taking his eyes off the road. By this time night had already set in.
In less than five minutes Brayden's car pulled over at Daylights Apartment parking space.
"Don't run out. I wanna talk to you and Lisa," Brayden stopped the girl that had already pulled the car's door open about to run out.
After getting Marley and Monalisa's attention Brayden started, "Marl, I know you and your sister are particularly used to living in the apartment you and your Dad lived in… but we can't return there because a large part of the house was affected by the fire and smoke".
"Because of that you and Lisa will have to live together with Jillian in her home. Do you agree with that or do you want to return to grandma's house for the time being?" Brayden asked just to make sure that he hadn't gone ahead of himself.
"We will be able to live with Mommy from now on?" Monalisa asked with widened eyeballs.
"Is that really true Mom?" Marley asked, both girls staring at Jillian's face at the same time as if her words were more reliable than Brayden's.
"Yes," Jillian said, smiling in between her teeth. Luckily Marley and Monalisa were just six years old kids and couldn't tell that her smile was insincere.
"While staying with her, you girls need to be really good kids or else you will have to put up living with me forever if you make her upset," Brayden warned knowing exactly what the girls were capable of.
If they were able to set their fine home on fire, what was the guarantee thy wouldn't do the same to Jillian's house?
"We have always been good girls right, Lisa?" The smart Marley called for her sister's support.
"Of course!" Monalisa supported as expected.
"Let's see how true those words are," Bradyen hissed. He tilted his body a little and gaze at the back seat instead of looking at them through the rear mirror.
"I want you and Marl to stand outside while I talk to Jillian," Brayden instructed and pointed at his right hand side where he wanted them to stand.
If this was in the past Marley and Monalisa wouldn't have easily done as he commanded but his earlier statement changed everything.
To prove to hime and Jillian they were good girls, Marley and Monalisa climbed out of the car and moved to the exact spot he wanted them to stand.
"As you can see Marl and Lisa will really be good to you during their stay with you. Peradventure they misbehave, just tell them that you will send them back to me and I promise that they will become the sweetest girls you have ever seen," Brayden said despite not knowing how true his word were.
"I will drop by every morning and night to see how they are doing. Also, by tomorrow morning all the things they would require doing their stay in your home will be delivered to your doorstep," Brayden assured her.
"Like I told you earlier, I have a fiance. He won't appreciate it if another man enters our home frequently so we will have to readjust the time of your visit and limit it to once a day…"
"Of course I have to check on how the girls are doing as soon as they wake up and before they go to bed so it's important I do as I have said," Brayden said refusing to give in to what Jillian wanted.
"If you must visit them twice a day then that will have to be during your lunch break at the office and before they have their dinner. I won't agree to anything earlier or later than that," Jillian refused to bend to Brayden's terms.
"Hmm…" Brayden trailed not giving her a response instantly.
Compared to him m, she really had nothing to lose. That was why he would be at a loss if he didn't agree to her terms.
The girls whom he promised a vacation with their mother's look alike might really end up killing him if he failed to keep his word this time around.
"OK, I agree to that," Brayden gave in to her terms at last.
"Let's exchange contacts," He said.
After he concluded his discussion with Jillian, Brayden escorted the three women to Jillian's home which happened to be a floor below his.
"Although the decoration of your home is simple, I have to admit that it is beautiful. I bet Marl and Lisa will love it here," Brayden said, his eyes moving from one corner of the room to another.
"Everything to the least decor was set up by my fiance. He likes it simple and comfy…"
"You are talking as if you don't share the same taste with him but were forced to compromise for his sake. Is he the type who forces his ideology on others?" Brayden demanded.
He momentarily took his attention off the painting on the wall he had his gaze fixated on.
"Hey, I never said anything like that, so will you stop twisting my words?" Jillian retorted, frowning.
