Chereads / Reborn with a Vampire Saint System / Chapter 5 - Time to train

Chapter 5 - Time to train

I spent the next two years and eight months switching between the two kingdoms Atlas and Kai. Atlas was a plant filled kingdom. Most of their temples were for the plant and animal Gods. The Kai kingdom was a floating kingdom on the water. By water I mean the Ocean. They had water and weather Gods. I had been tested again yesterday and was now ready to attend school to start training.

I had learned over the last couple years. "You be careful not to over work yourself," Papa said as he tied my hair back with a green ribbon. I had midnight black hair and almond shaped amber green eyes. My skin was a light tan. I figured it would get darker now that I would be training. School covered all the things royals were expected to know. Math, history, language, music, horse riding, and etiquette. To name of them. Then was the training part, sword, bow, dagger, and the finding of ones specialty. Would learn the basics of magic for the first couple months. Never mind the fact that some of us, me, already had magic.

"Aura! Come on we are gonna be late!" I heard Kiden yell.

I found Dad staring down at his son when I came down the steps with Papa. Aiden looked like the cat who shallowed the canary. The boys had a sort of rivalry these last few months. I had no idea why. They were six. It's not like they were fighting over some girl. Or a guy.

"Alright everyone let's get going," Papa sighed. Even so he shot Dad a smile.

Dad shook his head but pushed the boys towards the door. Kaden proceeded to grumble the whole way about how he and Aiden walked to school on their own. As if it mattered. We were close enough to the school to walk but there were a few carriages arriving as we approached the school building. I found it hard to believe any school needed to be this big. At least considering the number of people that lived in each city. Dispite that fact I saw group after group. Some were my age others were older. Aiden and Kaden were waved over by a group of boys. They ran off without even asking.

Which left me and our Dads to head inside together. We walled through the halls and I forced myself to not galk at everything. I am a noble. I am the daughter of Lord and Master NightLeaf. The was a line in front of a desk. "Marry Flintheart!" A woman called.

"Jax Electo!" A man called. As each name was called by an adult the line moved. On and on it went until...

"Name?" The men didn't even look up from the table as we approached. My hackles rose at the insult.

I stepped forward as Dad went to answer, "Aurora NightLeaf." My voice was clear as I spoke. That made the men look up.

"Age?"

"Three years two days."

"Speciality?"

"Magic. Can you just all your questions at once? I am eager to begin class."

"Are you blessed?"

"Yes."

"Professor Moonmyth! This is one of yours. Careful she seems... mouthy." Mouthy! What because I could speak for myself?

"Aurora NightLeaf!" The man called. My gaze swung to to sound. He was a tall man, who had golden tan skin. His black hair was chopped short. I moved towards him and met his gaze. Something that seemed to unsettle him. His features were sharp with high cheekbones and strong jaw. It was his pure amber eyes. Like I was looking at a wolf. Without much thought I used scan.

-Name: Umbriel Moonmyth Age: 203 years

-Race: Lycan (Human/ Werewolf)

-Title: First of his Kind, King of Wolves

-Patrion God: Lun

-Blessing: Moon Kissed, Lun's Favored

-Condition: Weakened (Unmated)

My scan ability was still low or maybe I was was too weak. Perhaps this was the extent of that ability. "Join the others in line," he said. I did so. Around us other names were called out. I had no idea how they decided who went to which teacher only that we all stood there until the line was gone. Two more children had joined the line behind me. "Alright children follow me," Umbriel called out.

There were two other professors that walked not far from our group with their own followers. They split off into their own class rooms through. "Take your seats children. We have a lot to do today." There were only nine of us in the group so we had plenty of room to spread out. Well I had room to break away from the other kids. It was clear that some of them knew each other by the way they grouped together. One other kid had separated himself from the group like myself.

"Let me be clear all of you hear have magic ability already. So look around the room. That being said I only expect half of you to pass the first test. One by one you will come forward and push your mana into this," he yanked a cover off what looked to be a crystal ball. it sat on his desk at the center of the room. "This is a mana crystal. Mana crystal are the only way to test the magically affinity to elements. The nobles in the room likely already know this but magical affinity places a cap on how fast and how far your magic can grow. Not everyone has the ability to learn magic. Most do but not everyone. So then who wants to go first?"

A girl in the first row's hand shot up. She wore a light blue dress. Her hair curled in loose waves of dirty blonde. She was taller than me but Dad said my stats had made me a late bloomer physically. She stepped up on the little step stool I had missed. Of course there was a step stool! There was no way children could reach an adult desk without one. Her little hand reached for the ball and for awhile nothing happened. One of the boys snickered.

Mana was pure magic. Most people had very little control of magic in its purest state. Not that most people knew that. Pure magic, or Mana, was magic before someone or something gave it direction and form.

Finally the crystal started to glow. I had not noticed them before but in the stand that held the ball was jewels. Five of them began to glow along with the ball but only two were really noticeable.

"Stand by the door. You have medium affinity for Lighting and Fire magic. Low affinity for Wind, Water, and Nature," the professor handed the girl a sheet of paper. she beamed and took her place by the door. Two more kids went with similar results.

The boy who had sat apart moved foreward without raising his hand. He moved with confidence. If the Professor minded, he did not say anything. The boy placed his hand on the ball and I felt my eyes widen as it soon lit up. "High affinity in Lighting, Water, Wind, and Fire. Return to your seat," Umbriel said handing over the paper. It was only now that the kids by the door looked nervous. More children went up. Two more returned to their seats and then it was my turn.

I moved toward the desk without complaint. I already knew my affinity would be high. My blessing made it so but I had very little magical training. My family seemed far more concerned about helping me keep up with the other kids my age. Not that I blamed them. As I put my hand on the ball my magic surged. It was almost like it wanted to rush into the ball. So I let it. I heard gasps as the jewels light up. My eyes turned to the professor as I blinked up at him.

"I tried to tell him before. I am blessed."

"Who is your God?" he asked me as he took note of my results. I shook my head.

"I do not know. No one can read the name on my Stat screen," I said with a shrug.

He seemed unphased by my words, "It does happen on occasion. You have high affinity in Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Lighting, Ice, and Metal. Exceptional in Nature, Light, Dark, and Divine." He handed my paper over to me with a gesture to sit down before heading to the door. He opened it and said, "Take these ones to a better fitting class."

Upon hearing they were not being kicked out of school the kids faces brightened and followed the woman out happily. She was dressed in light flowy material. "Now then!" Umbriel clapped his hands which made me jump at the crack the echoed in the room. "You four all have strong magical affinity. You are in this class because you will need balance. You will grow faster magically than the other children but without proper training you will fall behind your peers in physical strength. My name is Professor Umbriel Moonmyth. By the end of the month all of you will hate me. So let's begin!"

He looked far to happy about that. I scowled at him. I knew teachers like him. They were the teach hard types. The type that had two kinds of students. Those that lived only to kill their teacher and those that dropped out because they could not handle it.
