Chereads / Reborn with a Vampire Saint System / Chapter 7 - System Upgrade

Chapter 7 - System Upgrade

My eyes shot open. I had seen both plenty of people do their System Upgrade. It happened the first time at age ten. Typically when ones bloodline awakened and quests started.

What?! I jolted from bed as pain wrecked my body.

It felt like I was on fire. I clawed at my bed and heard the sheets rip. I had cut my hair short years ago because it got in the way during training. By the time I could open my eyes long hair covered my eyes. I forced myself up as someone, Kaden, pounded on my door. Kaden seemed to hate me.

"Get up! Birthday or not you got school!" I pushed myself up from the bed and glared towards the door. Tha thump tha thump. What the hell? I could picture him on the other side of my door.

"Go away Kaden!" I yelled back. "I'm already up!"

I heard him start to move away, "Lazy ass. I'll never understand why she is the favorite." I hissed at the door before I could catch myself. I moved towards my mirror to look at myself as I pushed my hair back. I gasped.

I couldn't recognize myself. My hair was wavy and red. There were streaks of black mixed throughout. I had silver hair framing my face! My eyes were almond shaped and a light purple. My face was spotless and soft. My lips were a beautiful cupids bow of rose red. I learned in closer and parted my lips. Fangs. Small and sharp but still fangs. I was taller, thinner, and tanned. I looked nothing like myself.

I pulled up my stats.

>Lvl: 1

>HP 250/250 >MP: 400/400

>STR: 25 >STM: 40

>INT: 28 >MAG: 30

>DEX: 30 >AGI: 32

>VIT: 30

My eyes widened even more. Vampires are seriously overpowered. Another knock came from my door, "Aura?" Aiden called. "Are you okay?" I rushed to my wardrobe and nearly gave myself whiplash. I tore at the clothes within. Only to scream in frustration. Aiden knocked again, "Aura?"

"Just get Dads!" I yelled back. What was I supposed to do now. I paced my room as I heard four sets of feet pound up the stairs. "Do you all have to be so fucking loud!" I yelled as they slammed my door open.

"Aura?" Aiden asked.

"Yes Aiden. This is me now. None of my clothes fit. Everything is loud as hell. I'm so thirsty!"

"Aurora," Dad called to me. "What did you pick?"

"I didn't get to pick! There was some kind of error. The system said I only had one option."

Their eyes widened. "What was it Aurora?" Papa asked.

"Vampire," I sighed. "Bloodline Vampire. Class Saint. Race changed to Low Vampire."

"Wait a second. This weakling is a Saint Class?" Kaden exclaimed.

"She is not a Saint yet Kaden," Dad pointed out. "She hasn't done any quests."

Papa clapped his hands, "Enough! First things first Aurora is a Vampire she requires blood now. Aiden go alert Professor Moonmyth about her change in condition. Zenith go see if we can find a Vampire to mentor her. Kaden you go get a seamstress. We need to completely redo her clothes." They rushed from the room. "Now then why don't you have a seat honey."

I did as I was told with a sigh. "Why is this happening?"

"Look and find out. In most cases you would have been given at least two choices. Check and see the reason why you were forced into this situation."

I felt my eye twitch. You dare to encourage me to grow as I see fit and yet force me to become a Vampire. Feels very contradictory if you ask me. Which of course they did not.

I could imagine them laughing it up on their thrones. No doubt enjoying how annoyed I was. I turned my focus back to Papa, "The Bloodlust skill. It was apparently a precursor to becoming a Vampire."

"We will get you a mentor Aurora," he said sitting on the lounge. "Zenith has some ties with some Vampire Lords. I am certain at least one owes him a favor." My head turned towards the door.

"Dad is almost here," I said. Papa turned to the door as I said that. Dad pushed open the door. He seemed surprised to find us both looking at him. "New skill. I can hear the entire house if I try," I sighed.

His eye brows rose, "Useful. Lord Alaric has agreed to mentor our budding vampire. Pretty sure he only agreed because he was curious how we ended up with a vampire in the family." Papa looked displeased. "He is a good man, Everette."

"He is an annoying man."

My head turned towards my still open door. Umbriel rushed to me. "What's wrong?" he asked as he kneeled in front of me. My eyes locked on his neck. On his pulse. I forced myself still. I was so thirsty. Umbriel did not notice or maybe he did not care as he pulled me into his embrace. I growled as my body moved without my will. My teeth once again found his neck. He did not move as it happened. Did not seem shocked. He simply ran his hand through my hair as I drank from him.

Right I gained stats if I drank from those stronger than me. Umbriel was definitely stronger. He had always been stronger. He let me pull away as the thirst faded. "You don't hate me?" I asked.

"Why would I hate you?" he asked me. We had become close over the last year. Almost friends.

"Your a Lycan. Don't Lycan's hate Vampires?" He laughed at my question as did my Dads.

"Lycans do not have an innate hate for Vampires. In fact many of us live closely with Vampires."

"But the stories..." I trailed off.

He cupped my cheek, "Some Lycan houses do hate Vampires. But only certain Vampire houses."

"Since the Dungeons appeared many of the old feuds have been put to rest," Papa said. "Our own families used to be at war with one another."

Dad nodded, "We were married to secure friendly relations with future generations." I blinked at them surprised. I remembered that time when the two families had shown up on our doorstep. Right after I had first been named God Blessed. Nothing ever came of my title clearly, as we had returned back to the little town of my birth and away from the cities. Even so I recalled Dad's family being quite friendly with Papa and Dad. Where as Papa's family had been aggressive. They had seemed almost gleeful that my Blessing was deemed irrelevant so they could be done with us half breed children.

"Your hair looks nice long," Umbriel stated. "You should keep it."

I huffed at that. "It will just get in the way if I do."

"We can get you a handmaid to help tie it back," Papa said.

"Oh yeah yet another person I will be tempted to eat," I laughed sarcastically. I flinched as I heard the clapping of hands.

"Alright gentlemen! Get out! The lady is in need of new clothes and we can not do our job with all of you in her private quarters. So out with you!" The sound came from Madam Silva. A Elf woman who made a living making clothes for smaller nobles. While Dad and Papa were considered fairly high with all their achievements they liked to live small. She had a lean form that was fairly flat. Her hair was long and blonde. Her blue eyes locked on me and lit up. I wanted to kill her for the glee I saw there.

She had brought a small army of helping hands with her to no doubt get me enough clothes to last a few days until more could be made. "I knew there was a woman buried in there somewhere!" She crowed. I hated this woman. She had been pushing me to wear dresses for years. To grow out my hair and wear makeup.

"I plan to cut it off Madam," I told her. I took no small amount in glee at her shocked expression. "I have no use for long hair. I just need enough shirts and pants to train in for a few days and some night wear. I do not require anything else."

"But you're a Vampire!" She exclaimed. She looked at me like I had killed a puppy. "Elegant, graceful, beautiful! Vampire women go to battle in gowns. With long hair!"

"Not this one," I told her with a smirk.
