Shuffle Playlist: Greedy by Tate McRae
''Look who we have here? Our best voice actress, Sabrina Van.'' Bianca said sarcastically.
''I believe the party has just started. Are you leaving already?'' Mimi asked Sabrina.
''I spent some time inside but I have an emergency to attend to. Have a nice evening.'' Sabrina replied. Between her and Mimi, there was a little mutual respect or maybe they were both good at acting like they were in good terms.
As for Bianca, she was openly opposed to Sabrina and it made Sabrina feel at ease because she knew she was dealing with someone who didn't like her. But when it came to Mimi, Sabrina was careful because she couldn't tell what Mimi was planning. She only knew for sure that Mimi didn't like her.
''More like you are trying to escape. Sabrina, don't be too proud. Do you know what people call you behind your back?'' Bianca was furious.
''As you said, people behind me. I don't need to know what anyone who is behind me is saying. Don't you think so?'' Sabrina replied with a smile.
''Sabrina, what do you mean?'' Bianca stepped forward and Mimi held her back.
''That's enough! Sabrina, go about your business.'' Mimi said to Sabrina before pulling Bianca inside.
When they were at a safe space, Mimi glared at Bianca saying. ''Why are you so stupid?''
''What? Mimi, what do you mean?''
''What good will it bring you to confront Sabrina so openly? Let me tell you. If you want to last long in this industry, you better start acting right and don't get worked up over everything. Right now, Sabrina is every director's favorite. You can't also deny the fact that she is a really good actress and has a soothing voice. Don't say I didn't warn you!'' Mimi said before going inside.
''*****, that little bitch…'' Bianca cussed while stamping her feet. She calmed down when she saw a few people arriving.
''I heard Mimi wants to work with Alfonso. He is planning to make a Disney adaptation.'' Tia said as she drove.
''Alfonso asked me to voice in a new adaptation he plans to work on. Could it be the same one?'' Sabrina asked.
''I guess so. That means, you might run into her. What role are you going to dub?''
''Female lead.''
''That's what Mimi is going to audition for. Mimi hasn't openly confronted you before unlike Bianca, but I don't think she likes you that much either.'' Tia's eyes stayed on the road as she drove and chatted with Sabrina.
''I know. Mimi and I are the same kind of people. She pretends to like me and I act the same way. If she is auditioning for the female lead role then, I won't take Alfonso's offer. If Mimi is auditioning, he should let me do same.''
''You just act cold on the outside but you are kind. But I doubt Mimi will be happy if she finds out you passed on the opportunity for her.''
''I am not passing it on to her. I just don't want to go through the backdoor for such a role. If Alfonso is having everyone audition, then he should have me audition too. That's only fair. In any case, I don't want to work with that pervert.''
Tia smiled and drove in silence.
….
A few days later….
Los Angeles- California
Bayun Graveyard.
''Miss Van, what do you think of this grave tomb? It is facing the sea and is in a very cool and serene environment.'' The tomb salesman asked after a two-hour tour of various graves with Sabrina.
Sabrina was looking for a tomb where her ashes would be placed once she dies. She wanted to be prepared for anything that might happen. She wanted to personally choose a grave that she loves so that her soul will be at peace.
She had woken up very early this morning to prepare for this grave hunting. It sounded strange to the ordinary person but Sabrina knew what she was doing. Death was something inevitable. Her parents didn't escape it. Her brother didn't escape it. So, definitely, she wouldn't be that lucky to live past her 30th birthday.
''This place has a good ambience. I like it.'' Sabrina smiled.
The salesman heaved a deep relief. He was tired after going around the city with Sabrina to choose a suitable grave.
The salesman looked at Sabrina. He didn't understand why a young girl in her late twenties would be looking for a grave for herself. It was unheard of.
''Shall we go and get the paperwork done?'' Sabrina asked when she saw the look on the salesman's face. She knew he had a lot of questions.
''Yes, Miss Van. This way…'' The salesman walked with Sabrina down the stairs of the graves.
''Miss Van, can I ask you a question?'' The salesman couldn't help but want to know why Sabrina was going to this extent.
''Go ahead!'' Sabrina replied patiently and in a relaxed manner.
''Why are you buying a grave for yourself? This behavior isn't normal. You are a young lady, and have a lot of years ahead of you. Why do I feel that you are a pessimistic person?''
Sabrina smiled. ''Death is something we all must prepare for. Isn't that, right?'' Sabrina looked at the salesman.
''You're right! But I just feel that you are a little….''
''I am not pessimistic. I am just more conscious of what I want in life.''
Sabrina looked at the timer on her wrist that was only visible to her eyes. It was a timer that depicted her life and when her time on earth would run out.
A cursed destiny brought upon by her ancestor whom was cursed for betraying an entire nation and has been passed on to the next generations until her.
Unlike her parents and elder brother, Sabrina had decided not to give birth. What was the use of bringing a child into this world only to leave them behind and also pass on a curse to them.
Right now, the only person she was worried about was her niece, Bia who just turned eight. She wanted to make sure Bia had the best of everything life could offer.
Sabrina's phone went off and she excused herself and answered the call from Tia.
''Darling…''
''Darling, where are you? I just brought Bia home and she wants to see you.'' Tia asked.
''I'll be home in a jiffy. I came out to do something.'' Sabrina replied over the phone.
''Darling, did you go grave hunting again?''
''Mm!''
''Hey! What is wrong with you? How many times do I have to tell you not to go near the cemetery?'' Tia saw Bia coming out of her bedroom and lowered her voice. She didn't want the child to know what Sabrina was doing.
''Darling, don't you dare buy any grave. Come home immediately. You know how anxious Bia gets when she doesn't see you.'' Tia said through gritted teeth.
''Give me 30 minutes. I'll be home soon.'' Sabrina hung up the call and turned to face the salesman.
''Are you still buying the grave?'' The salesman asked.
''Yes, give me the papers to sign.'' Sabrina took the papers from the salesman to sign.
Outside the graveyard, Vincent arrived in his Benz. He didn't come with his secretary today because he was visiting someone special to his heart. His fiancée whom had passed on.
After signing the papers, Sabrina handed them over to the salesman.
''I will process the documents and mail them to you.'' The salesman said.
''Alright!'' Sabrina smiled and nodded her head.
''Then, I'll be going back to the office.''
''Go ahead. I want to take a look around before I leave.'' Sabrina smiled. She watched the salesman walk away before she turned towards another section of the graveyard. Her eyes settled on a gentleman. His back was facing her so she couldn't see his face clearly.
''Even his back looks sad.'' Sabrina mumbled subconsciously and shifted her gaze to the gravestone that the man was standing in front of.
''One day, I will also be sleeping here. I wonder if it's cold at night or warm at night? I would like for someone to light some candles around my gravestone when the weather is cold and maybe plant a few flowers around my grave when the weather is warm.''
Sabrina chuckled and a tear ran down her left cheek. ''What is wrong with me?'' She wiped the tear away and saw the man coming down the stairs after visiting his loved one.
Not wanting to be embarrassed or seen as weird, Sabrina immediately turned her face. She ran her fingers over her hair to cover her face as the man walked past her.
Vincent looked at Sabrina but because she had covered half of her face with her hair, he couldn't tell who she was and he didn't seem interested in knowing who she was.
It was just that… he had heard her words earlier on. She sounded pessimistic and her voice was filled with sadness. He could tell.
Vincent put his hand inside his pocket to take out his phone and his handkerchief fell out. He didn't notice it and continued to walk away.
