Zwullppp!!!
Hex covered his eyes with his arms as the scorching wind swept grit into the air. "Hufft!" As he coughed, he observed the dust gradually dispersing.
Was Wease's death in the first timeline actually caused by this beast? No! That thing is fucking huge.
'This doesn't look like a usual dragon that breaths fire!'
It appeared considerably larger than it actually was, thus it had to be a lightning bolt, shard, or most likely a wind dragon.
Whichever it was, he and Wease could not take this risk. Previously, he had planned to use a small portion of the available power, but circumstances had changed.
'Phantom show me my stats fast!'
{Phantom}
Strength: 15
Agility: 8
Senses: 2
Stress: 39
Cursed Mana: 41
{Calculated to fit an idiot like you. Stress has a limit of 100}
'There was no time to argue now.' Even though he had plenty of time to use his strength before reaching the hundred, he still needed to use it carefully in order to prevail.
'Only attack when you have a visual!'
Hex started to carefully search through the dust clouds, clenching his hand in anticipation of firing because he was unsure of Wease's whereabouts.
This was problematic since the man he was attempting to save was not in sight, which meant he might be anywhere and an easy target for the dragon.
'I have to save him,' Hex sprang to his feet, preparing to rush into the dust clouds.
Swooom!
Just as he made his first stride, Wease sprung out of the dust clouds, biffing Hex with his shoulder and sending him flying again.
'Why do you choose to hate me?'
At the same time, the dragon plunged its head down to the location where Hex had previously lain, but instead of him, Wease was captured.
"Huuyyaaak!!!" Wease shouted at the top of his lungs when the dragon's massive jaws snatched his hand and crushed it quickly.
Rieeccchhk!!! The dragon forced out it's most sinister shriek lifting Wease into the air with his bitten arm and causing him to scream even more.
"Kaayhacck! Damn!" Wease shouted, hanging in the air with his shattered arm. It hurt a lot.
'Shit, I guess I am dying today!'
Wease pushed his other hand down his hoster and pulled out a little barrel rifle. It was difficult to aim under the pain, against his dangling body and broken arm, but after a while, he was able to fire numerous rounds at the softest place on every dragon.
Flannnk! Fwooom!
All of his shots ricocheted off the dragon's eye. Worse, it caused it to growl, arch its eyeballs, and deepen its iris with wrath.
'Shit, that was a whole lot of useless.'
Crack!
"Gaaahhhhh!!!" The dragon clenched its fangs harder, forcing Wease's hand to fracture and crush more.
'There is certainly no redemption for my hand!'
Wease blinked his eyes; the dragon's throat was already burning hot, and he could hardly feel his palm while knowing how the dragon's insides boiled. The dragon's breath huffed out ash and smoke.
'What comes next is surely fire.'
"Hex!" He managed to yell despite the immense strain. "Run! Save yourself!! Hayyaaack!"
The dragon suddenly began to charge its lightning energy, illuminating its neck in a blue glow. Undoubtedly, this marked the conclusion.
Hex rubbed his severely injured and bleeding cheek, saying, "I remember this, Wease yells I start running, the dragon fire obliterated him to ash."
'This time it is a lightning dragon, and this time I am a lot stronger than that cowardly punk!'
Fwooosh!
It resembled a bullet speeding through the meters to quickly collide with the monster.
Hex strengthened his fist, his body engulfed by purple glowing energy, his teeth gritted and with all determination he gave a glorious battle cry. "Arrrrrrgggggh!!!"
Booooom!
As his fist made contact with the dragon's face, it unexpectedly flew with its massive body mass a few dozen feet in the air.
Smashing through the structures in its route before collapsing on its back several yards away. Knocked out cold.
"Wease?" Hex noticed Wease descending from the heights to the ground. He was surprised to find himself in midair, so he quickly dove to intercept Wease before he could fall to the earth.
Wease in his hands, Hex gently landed. His expression was puzzled and filled with awe.
"Wease are you alright?" Hex inquired in a bold and commanding tone. In this timeline, he came dangerously near to losing Wease.
Wease's response to Hex's query was simple: "Where do I learn how to punch like that?"
A smile spread across Hex's lips; this was vintage Wease for him; thank God, despite his anguish, he could still manage magnificent smiles.
RIEECCCHHK!!!
The irritated dragon's piercing cry interrupted the scene.
Turning their attention back to the dragon, Hex and Wease saw that it was furious, cocking its head to the sky and emitting brief, loud shrieks to make its presence known.
"Shit, it ate my arm!" With a grumpy expression, Wease gazed at the stump that had spurted forth many gallons of blood, covering his whole outfit in a scarlet substance.
"Don't worry Wease, I will kill that bastard!" Hex snarled nestling Wease to lye on the floor. Subsequently, his eyes shifted towards the monster.
The way his ash-filled air moved through the atmosphere, the purple light that gathered around his skin, and the fumes of purple that came from his purple eyes.
It made him look like a divine being.
After realizing why, Wease nodded his head. "These days' kids never cease to terrify me."
The following chapter opens with the Divine Hex and Lightning Dragon engaged in combat.
