Hex received a glance from the dragon. He had no idea what type of dragon it was, and he had no intention of waiting to find out.

The searing agony that sprang from his flying was the only thing stopping him from attacking.

He was also sweating intensely. His fatigue must have gotten high.

However, he was already angry with the Phantom and winced at its presence, so he was not interested in learning anything from it at this time. 'I will end this in a few moments!'

Fwuuullp!

The dragon launched the initial attack, swerving around and swinging its long spike-filled tail at Hex.

'Did not expect such direct approach! I have to dodge!'

Hex squatted and threw himself into the air, allowing the tail to pass by him. So close.

Without any delay, the dragon opens its jaws wide and lets fly its...

"Dark Shards!" Hex screamed in surprise as dark Shard-like bullets escaped the dragon's jaws at him a dozen at a moment.

Fwluuul! Splurt!

With his strength, he was able to soar and evade most of the attacks, but some shards were tenacious and made it past his evasion.

Some created significant incisions in his hands, legs, and stomach cavity, while others stuck in his bowels.

He answers all this hits with a simple scream. "Arrrrrcccchhhkk!!!"

"Hex! No!" In addition, he could hear his mother's cry echoing in his ears.

Hex made an effort to ease the agony, but it was too great.

Since his body was still the same and a child's body had no endurance at all. He had mistakenly thought that, as a young child with so much strength, he was invincible.

Hex caught a glimpse of his mother's concerned look. 'I am sorry I made you worry so much, I have so much to say to you, since you died so early I have a load of stuff I would like you to know but unfortunately you don't get to hear them even in this second chance In life. All I wanted was a mother to love me like everyone else, is that too much to ask for?'

Swooosh!

The dragon attacked again, this time using its tail to strike Hex directly in the side, throwing him against the nearest wall of a ruined cottage.

"Gaahhhh!" Hex let out a cry as he felt every rib in his body fracture from that one blow. Not only had he broken his back, but he also had various internal injuries and was unable to move an inch.

'Common, why can't I move, it can't end here.... I am so close.... I have the power to, but I still can't move to save all I love!'

Hex bit hard on his lips until blood started to rush out, he could only move his face nothing else. 'Common body, don't fucking do this to me, remember how much we cried at night because we lost her, remember how broken we were, just remember and once again move!'

No matter how much determination one can gather, a broken spine remained a broken spine. Now all he could do was watch.

With a snarl, the dragon locked its eyes on Hex's mother, who was sobbing and rushing in his direction.

"Hex! Hex!" She screamed at the top of her lungs crying incessantly.

Hex broke down in tears as well; there was something nostalgic and relatable about her face that always made his heart sing. Anyone who has ever had a mother would understand. But not him.

As he watched her sprint in his direction, he managed to mumble, "Mum."

With every step she took, he could smell a hug from her. Her warm embrace he had missed. If only he could pause time and savor that moment it would be a dream worth dying for.

Fwluuuppp! Splooosh!

Before his mother could reach him the humongous tail of the dragon swatted her into the air with an amazing force sending blood and disdain into the air.

Hex in particular flared up, as a scream forced out of his lungs. "MUUUUUMMMMM!!!"

What had just happened? Hex's heart burst into bits. Just when he thought he could have the world. The pain of loosing his mother.... It was all replaying back to him.

'Mum! I couldn't even do a thing to help her even in this life! I just lost again.... Now....'

....Mum is dead....

The anguish of having to witness your mother's death repeatedly in front of you.
