Chapter 25 - Fire and Ice Revolutions

Crystal was amazed at how fast their sprint was. They were crossing through the mountains and leaped over the trees.

Many beasts of the field were unaware and would suddenly get their heads gnawed off as the Raptor passed.

Despite Wintress's size being smaller than a donkey's, it had strength and easily lifted up Crystal and moved.

But despite the speed, the sharp turns, and the jumps, Crystal easily held on. She would shift her body weight at the right time, and Wintress also knew how to adjust her body as she carried Crystal.

She was comfortable as she rode, and every movement that Wintress made felt like it was her own.

"So this what Adam meant. If I do achieve Soul taming, it will give me far greater control than any other tamers!" She smiled.

Crystal didn't even need the map or the compass. Wintress knew where the human town of Riverbed was. She could understand where Crystal wanted to go.

The pair ran swiftly out of the mountain, and Crystal drew the courage to practice fighting.

With one sword in hand, she tried to test her swings and attacked the nearby trees.

The attack was weak and barely did any damage at all. Even with their unity, Crystal still had to hold on to Wintress, and her attack was pitiful.

"Ugh… No good. I guess I'll try to find if there's a way to saddle you in Riverbed." Crystal decided.

"For now… I must practice the magic. With my ice soul returning, I should be able to

She began to train in the circulation of magic. She would revolve the magic of fire around and suffer the pain in her. But because of the ice, Crystal could now resist the swirling flames and maintain the magic in her for five revolutions while she rode.

"If I concentrate, I could do six… or even seven magic revolutions in me. Now let's try… the ice."

Crystal began to circulate the ice and felt a chilling power. But unlike the flames, it barely hurt her. The only problem was the speed of the revolution.

A single revolution of the flames would equal three revolutions of the ice.

But upon the twelfth revolution of the ice, Crystal's vision started to fade as she was slowly freezing.

"ROAR!"

Wintress gave a loud roar to jolt Crystal awake.

CRACKLE!

A cold eruption of ice shot out from Crystal and froze everything around them.

Wintress was also caught in the ice and became frozen.

Crystal was shocked and began to release the flames to add warmth and thaw the flames.

CRACKLE!

The ice suddenly broke as Wintress released the heat of her own body.

"Sorry!" Crystal held on and embraced Wintress, who seemed to be laughing.

"The frost is too slow! I'm getting frozen just by circulating it..." She frowned as Wintress began to charge out again.

"But the frost isn't harming my body. So, I do have all three. Physical, Spirit, and Soul Ice constitution. This is why my body is not affected by the cold. If the ice is turned into icicles or shot at me, the impact would hurt… So this is why Adam told me to not worry about the conflicting fire and ice and was confident that my body could take it…" Crystal's breath created mist from the cold in her.

She then began to experiment. The frost was too slow and would freeze her. But what if she added fire to the circulation?

She closed her eyes as she tried to practice the magic. The two weapons appeared in her hand, and she held them in a way that wouldn't wound Wintress.

But she felt Wintress's thoughts informing her that even if they stumbled and the swords slashed or stabbed at him, it wouldn't do much damage because of Wintress's dragon hide.

Feeling more confident, Crystal began to practice according to Adam's suggestions.

Even with her eyes closed, she could still shift her body to keep herself clinging to Wintress.

The two energy of her soul began to move.

It was as if Crystal could see the Red-Winged woman appear behind her as she began to use the energy.

The flames surrounded the ice as it began to make its revolution.

With the speed and push of the flames and how it countered the frost to freeze, Crystal could decrease the increase in the rate of the ice.

The ice moved faster, and instead of three revolutions of fire, the speed and power of the ice would attain the same movements at only two revolutions.

The unpleasant sensation appeared once more.

Her body was suffering from the fire, but now, it was not as painful since the energy revolving around it also had ice.

At eight revolutions, Crystal reached her limit and shot the ice forward.

An icicle shot out of her hand, flew with amazing speed, and penetrated through the trees in front of them.

STAB! STAB!

The icicle penetrated through the trees.

Crystal was surprised at what she saw.

"I wonder if I could kill an Arvus with that spell?" She pondered.

"I should have paid more attention to cultivation class…" She frowned as she remembered being too bothered to listen due to the trials of that time.

The ice gathered around her hands as the sword manifested.

"Now… to try it with these weapons…" Crystal allowed the magic to move toward the two weapons.

As Adam suggested, she was not to practice one magic, but merging the two magics would be the best start because of her rare circumstance.

Meanwhile, on Riverbed…

A mercenary saw an eagle fly out.

"Message from headquarters!" The mercenary cried out.

Next to him were three other mercenaries who bore the insignia of the Sword Quest group!

The mercenary who received the eagle took out the parchment.

"Hm? What a large letter. It seems we have a new mission." The mercenary sighed as he opened the letter.

His expression froze as he read the letter.

Their boss was dead! And the culprit was a girl!
