The three Spear Blades approached carefully and had their chains ready to bind Crystal.
"Are mercenaries allowed to arrest people?" Crystal frowned.
"Silence! A fugitive like you, with your witchcraft, can only bring evil! We are acting according to our own initiative!"
"I see…" Crystal nodded as he observed that none of the soldiers were doing anything. Crystal could already guess why these married soldiers would dare not move or go against the Spear Blade Maidens.
"It's interesting because you claim that the reports speak of a woman fugitive. If I were that criminal, I would be insulted by such a title." Crystal smiled as the three moved closer.
"Why? You don't want to be called a woman?" one of the Spear Blades mocked as she moved closer to attach the chain.
"I am. But, I am more than a woman."
CRACKLE!
A terrifying frost erupted and froze the three women who attempted to arrest her.
"Ahhh!"
The women were frozen from their hands to their legs.
"If I were the fugitive, I would be described as a beautiful Ice Mage Beast Master." Crystal smiled. A terrifying rage was building within her as she looked at the Spear Blade captain.
The spear blade captain was about to scream in fear, but a blurring figure shot and pounced at her.
Wintress pounced at her, pushed its raptor arm, and caused the captain to be planted firmly on the ground.
CRUNCH!
"AHHHHHH!" The captain felt the bite of Wintress crunching her shoulder.
"Move, and your captain is killed," Crystal answered, her eyes blue with magic.
The rest of the Spear Blade Maidens were caught off guard and had their weapons drawn. But it was too late.
"AHHHHH! STOP!"
Their captain screamed as Wintress pulled back, adding pressure to the deep bite.
Everyone retreated in fear. The power she summoned was equal to an Arvus! No one dared to fight her! And besides that, the RaptorRaptor was clearly not standard. It was so fast!
The three women who were frozen couldn't move. They tried to pull back from the frost and felt the chilling cold. It was painful, and they screamed in fear.
Crystal drew the sword on the sheathe of one woman.
"Mercenaries do not have the authority to arrest. There is no bounty on the head of an Arvus Ice Mage Beast Master, is there?" Crystal smiled and turned to the woman who held the chains.
"Please…! Mercy!"
"Tell me, Spear Blade Maiden... Would you describe me simply as a 'woman?'" Crystal asked.
"No! We're sorry! We wouldn't dare!" The woman pleaded. The other two also did the same.
Crystal was telling herself to stop.
But she could see the spirit of the Red-Winged woman taking control.
The rage of being unfairly treated was exploding out. Crystal had so many things to be angry about. Adam's departure. The attempted rape of an Arvus. The poor Fate and Destiny of Dragons and herself. And now, this!
"A mercenary cannot arrest. And yet, you attempted to arrest me. This is me defending myself!" Crystal laughed as she swung her blade.
At the last moment, Crystal managed to sway the control of the Red-Winged woman.
And instead of slaying the frozen spear maiden, the sword slashed through and sliced off the two frozen hands.
SLASH!
"AHHHH!'
Blood trickled down the frozen hands as the woman was horrified to see the deep cut.
Crystal approached and raised her hand, and froze the wounds.
"You all stepped on my pride. I came here, seeking passage. Willing to pay a coin. And I would have been generous!" Crystal showed a gold coin.
"But alas, you all wanted to accuse me of being a 'fugitive woman' wanted for murder." Crystal shrugged.
"Do I look weak?" Crystal glared and turned to another of the three women.
"Please! Please!"
"You are all pathetic. You are all insecure about your own inadequacies. The Spear Blade Maiden? You brutes call yourselves maidens? I am a maiden." Crystal laughed as she walked towards the two.
Crystal was forcing herself to get out. Because the rage was trembling, and they didn't want to simply take the disgrace and accusation.
"Move… Move…" She urged her body.
But the rage gave in.
SLASH!
Two heads flew to the ground as Crystal made a cut.
The crowd saw the horrifying scene and could only gulp.
RIP!
"Ahhhh!"
Wintress also pulled back. She didn't open her jaw but pulled off a pile of flesh and muscles from the back of the captain. Though the captain remained alive, her right shoulder had a grave injury. The wound would forever make her incapable of wielding a weapon unless they sought great and expensive magic and alchemy.
"Is there anyone else that thinks that this mere woman is the runaway fugitive?" Crystal smiled as the sword in her hand began to freeze.
Everyone remained silent.
"We… do not dare!"
"A good sword. I shall take this gift. Since you have been disarmed." Crystal chuckled as she moved past the frozen woman who had severed hands.
The woman was too shocked to answer. She thought her head would be sliced off like the other two.
"Now… I would prefer if a boat would leave now. I am weary and had to survive an earthquake, and I have not found a good place to stay in the last three days. I will pay one gold coin for safe passage now."
"I accept!" One of the men hurriedly approached and bowed.
Everyone was surprised that the boatman would say yes to this crazed murderer.
"Thank you!" Crystal bowed and glanced at the man who accepted.
He was a handsome young man who looked like a traveling adventurer.
"I have a boat that I use to cross through these rivers. I shall take you to Merchant's Rest."
Crystal graciously bowed.
"If you are ready, kind sir. Let us take our leave."
"The boat is ready. Let us go." The man answered, and the two walked.
Wintress followed, and everyone quickly opened a path.
The Spear Blade Maidens dared not fight. They could see the RaptorRaptor eyeing them, and the sword frost only increased.
