I'm not willing to stop the caravan until the sun lights the forest and we've reached a more traveled area. With that in mind, there is more than enough time for the dried blood covering me to congeal.
While I can handle plenty of discomfort, there's no point in sitting here with dried blood on my face when it's relatively safe to stop.
Thus, I pull off to the side of the road. We never did spot the horses, but with active bandit presence in the area, it's likely they were pilfered.
As long as we've been riding, the two horses leading the cart need rest and water, and it wouldn't hurt to get some rest myself, now that we're out of hostile territory. It's about time we take a break.
When I return with water for the horses, I find Lucas stretching himself out over the ground, yawning widely as he blinks up at the rising sun.
"Dawn already, eh? Huh. Didn't sleep at all last night. Too much...y'know..."
