By the time we're approaching the cluster of houses Lucas' finger is eagerly pointing towards, night has fully fallen.
The thundering clouds block out the moon, rendering us completely in darkness aside from the occasional burst of lightning and the street lamps.
Apparently the important thing he needed to do was a delivery. What he'd planned on doing if we hadn't recovered his cart I don't know, but he has a heavy looking coin purse when he leaves the building.
I expect the man to be reasonable and climb back into the cart after this so we can continue, but instead of this...he climbs up onto the driver's seat next to me.
"What are you doing?"
"Keeping you company."
I slide over to make space. Not happily. "I prefer my company in the carriage. Silent."
Lucas looks smug. "Well maybe I like the rain."
