"Why do you say we can't win, and who is Alberith?"
David firmly questioned, ignoring the warnings of his squadmates, but the behemoth ignores him and levitates the package in their direction.
"Your damned item brought her slaves here, take it and leave!, you never saw me, understood!"
"If I ever sense you in these parts again, don't blame me for being ruthless"
Behemoth intimidates them with his neural force of lvl 6 and dissappears into the darkness, this action left the three on alert, quickly putting on their helmet, even David who seemed to be in a trance snapped out of it, returning to his normal self.
"Huh!? The package! "
David exclaims on the Coms
"Retrieve it and let's go"
Nathan ordered, still warily looking in the darkness where behemoth vanished.
David retrieves the package and quickly rejoins with his squad, they immediately get on their way, cautiously making haste in the direction of the battle which by now had escalated and intensified, an hour had already passed since they landed and the first line of defense, made up of lvl 2 transendents and the Yulius and Nyx squad, had already begun to fail and the pseudo transendents were starting to be put under pressure, if the unawakened were to come under direct attack the battle would be considered lost and evacuation would begin, they had to hurry and bring back the package.
Nathan who was a lvl 3 could have taken initiative to go ahead of his squad, but he hesitated separating from them, if they were to be ambushed, without him their combat power would be much lower, Bethany and grumpy understood this fact and were internally ashamed of their incompetence, they exerted their muscles and the armour's enhancement capabilities to the max to try and increase their pace, meanwhile Nathan and David effortlessly kept pace, Nathan behind and David ahead with the package in hand.
"Captain, allow me to run ahead and deliver the package, we are already behind on time, humans will die if we don't make haste"
David said.
"No Captain, you take the package you are much faster, the mission is of utmost importance".
Bethany argued.
...
Nathan remained unresponsive, seemingly contemplating his choices, although every second his thought they got closer, it still wasn't enough.
Nathan finally ends the wait, responding with a firm,
"No"
David, turns off his coms and exerts his armour and muscles to the maximum output and sprinted ahead as if he had not understood what Nathan said, but he did.
"Hey! what are you doing? I order you to keep pace with the squad."
Nathan raored, but David was already a ways away, it was either he chased after him or he kept pace with the rest of the squad, but the former was unsensible and illogical, Nathan was helpless and wished for no interference the rest of the way.
David with the package in toll finally reaches the colony base, entering through a prepared secret entrance, he finds himself in a large space filled with a cacophony of voices shouting and foot steps going here and there, David was confused on what to do now that he was here, he stopped momentarily to understand where he was, he decideds to move a bit forward as his current position was almost completely covered with tall towers of boxes, probably contain supplies, as he steps out of the alley like space and the light shines on him, the personnel frantically going from here to there were finally aware of his presence, their faces contorted in a grimace as they silently stared at the monsterous figure that emerged from no where.
The power armour issued to the Vangaurd cadets were a new design and tecnology far different from what normal military used, the armour was jet black with neon greens eye, a result of it's night vision capabilities, it was at least 2.5m tall and had no presence whatsover ,even as they looked at it with their naked eyes, they were still unsure if the were maybe hallucinating, and those who were convinced some... thing was standing there mistook it for a Trelfen.
"Everyone down!"
A commanding voice shouted, it was the armed forces who were guarding the warehouses captain, guns pointed, they demanded,
"Identify yourself!"
David, a bit confused raised the package, assuming they would recognise it.
"Open fire!!"
The obviously nervous captain shouted, after which his subordinates unhesitantly started to shoot at David.
David finally understanding what kind of situation it was, knew what he had to do, he sprinted towards the captain manuevaring through the workers who timidly kept their heads down, although his just sprinted,to the untrained eyes of the workers, David appeared to teleport in front of the captain.
Raising the captain by his collar to his height, David identifies him self
"I am Vangaurd cadet, lvl 2 transendent"
"Take me to your superiors, I have brought the package as per the directives, time is of the essence"
The captain acknowledges the misunderstanding and immediately orders him men to stand down, David let's him down and the captain apologises,
"My apologies sir, I didn't recognise you, please, this way"
The captain leads David towards the colony base's walls, occasionally turning back to look at David, although he had seen lower level transendents before, never had he seen one clad in force armour so upclose, how impressive he thought.
The captain who was named Liam, always wanted to be like the gallant and powerful transendents in his child stories, but he wasn't born with potential, yet he never gave up training and working towards his goal, even if he wasn't born with potential, he could still apply to be artificially awakened into a pseudo transendent after 35 yrs of service, this was his last year.
After David had delivered the package, the mechanics quickly got to work, it turns out the package was a high concentration energy core(HCEC) used to power the high output force cannon they intended to fire at the portal from which the Trelfen spawned.
David's objective was now to protect the mechanics the cannon until it was ready to fire, in the meantime he would wait for the rest of his squad.
While David stood there brandishing his force gun in attention, he is approached by the earlier captain, David wondered why he was still lingering around, isn't he on duty?, David thought, ocassionaly glancing at the middle aged man who seemed to get closer every time he looked, finally David confronted him,
"Is something the matter, soldier?"
"Nothing serious sir!"
" if you will allow it, I was wondering if I could take a holographic image (HI) of the both of us, sir"
"For my son sir "
Liam added.
David was worried about protocol, but everyone around them were busy with other things,
"As long as you don't broadcast it"
David said, Liam understood protocol and quickly took the HI,
"Thank you very much, my son will be very happy, thank you very much sir, I will leave now, glory to the sovereignty!"
"Long live the Transendental Emperor"
David answered.
