Chereads / Devil's Downfall / Chapter 8 - Identification Cards.

Chapter 8 - Identification Cards.

Two hours later. The boys found themselves before the massive front gate. A member of the NGD (national guild of defense) came up to them."Identification cards." He spoke simply with as few words as possible.

For civilians identification cards mean little more than that identification, but for martial artists it can mean the world. It's a proof of rank, William's grandpa's card was a tiger lord, distinct in the lord tier. The tiers go from bottom to top,

Soldier 1, 2, and 3. It is an ancient and strange title of soldier, for the fact that in the modern age, captain is the lowest rank any true army would hire.

Captain 1 and 2. The peak of what a normal human can achieve.

At this spot you reach gate one separating humans from their superhuman counterparts. To break this gate you must achieve lesser transcendence. In this lesser transcendence one has to fully understand magic, and have the ability to control it within their own bodies.

Commander low, and high. At this rank although not restricted the average person can lift 1 ton with ease.

General Alpha low/ high, and Giga low/ high. Many spend their whole life trying to reach this rank.

Lord. A true bottleneck for the best martial artists.

Gate two. The body as a whole must become one with magic to achieve what most call transcendence.

King grand or just normal. Kings can lift more than 10,000 tons. This rank is often said to be where the brilliant come to die.

Emperor. The very best of humanity there strength and speed can not be observed by most mortals. In some tests it was shown an emperor could lift 80,000 tons with moderate effort.

Gate three, little is known past this point. Those who achieve such greatness are more seen as gods than mere humans.

Peak sovereign. Few know of their capabilities and even fewer reach this point.

Gate Four. The gate only passed by one man.

Khan. A legend never to be forgotten.

They both exited the gates with ease finding themselves on the open road.

"So William, what's your last name?" John rested his palms on the back of his head.

William stood straight clearing his throat as if to announce a king. "I'm a member of the Jade family. What's yours?"

John put his hand on his chin. "Hmmmmm, never heard of you guys. Anyway my last name is Briggs."

William stopped in his tracks, eyes agape. "The Briggs?" He asked.

"The one and only. And don't suck up to me, I'm tired of that shit." John turned to stare William in the eyes.

"What is a member of the strongest family in America doing on the road by himself?" William questioned.

John clenched his teeth. "Long story short, I ran away from that asshat of a great grandfather."

William looked on with shaking eyes. Oh what he would do to see his grandpa again.
