Chapter 18 - She Must Be Dead

It had been 3 days since the wolfless blue haired girl had left the Eclipse Pack.

When she was here, nobody paid her any attention. They ignored her for the most part, some of the she-wolves would torment her for being a burden to the pack.

However, since she had left, she was all anyone could talk about.

"WHERE THE FUCK DID SHE GO?!", the usually handsome face of Grant James screamed at nobody in particular.

He was in the meeting room of the pack house, surrounded by the next beta, gamma and warriors when he would become alpha.

He had been sending them out to search for Aurelia since she left the pack.

"We have been unable to trace her. It's like she has no scent...", Alex replied. He was the up and coming beta of the Eclipse pack, sat to Grants right. He was Claudias mate, Aurelias best friend, so his interest in her whereabouts were not singularly linked to his soon to be Alpha. His mate was in pain worrying for her friend.

"She cannot just disappear into thin air?! How did she even leave?! She did not have the Alphas permission, now was she banished!", Grants face was an ugly sight. His eyes bulged and the vein at his temple throbbed. His usual boyish charm was surely lost these few days.

The warriors at the table flinched at his displays of rage.

"Grant, didn't you tell her to leave? I know its not formal banishment or mate rejection but perhaps that severed whatever link she may have had", said one of the warriors, Hank.

He was a part of a betas bloodline, therefore was able to voice opinion at this table.

"I don't give a fuck. Somebody had better find her, or I will slaughter all of Valdera!" Grant had regained some composure, however his expressions still a canvas of bloodlust.

In the days that Aurelia had been gone, he was unable to perform for his entourage of women. When he slept, he dreamt that other men were with the one the pack called 'defect', realising her beauty.

But this was not love, nor a fated attraction. Grant only wanted what was his. He felt sick to be robbed and wanted the useless freak back so nobody else could have her.

And so, he had sent the wolves that would be at his disposal into Halen to find her. So far, no joy.

"We will branch to the edges of Halen Forest today. We will go to the outskirts, then we will send word to the Rogues to see of they took her in. If we are unsuccessful, then we will send words to all of the packs", Alex took charge as Grant sat seething at the head of the table, lost to his thoughts.

"Even the Lycans", Grant murmered aloud.

The room fell deathly silent.

The Lycans were unpredictable.

They were the biggest, most unhinged of beasts among the shifters and were not friendly. If the beings of Valdera believed in a Hell, that was where the Lycan shifters hailed from.

They were unashamed to be dealing with Vampires and Fae, mixing races and all sorts of obscenities that the other Packs frowned upon.

But when any species needed a really dirty, nasty job done, the Lycans were the first port of call.

"Are you sure, future Alpha? If she is with The Lycans, she must surely be dead. They would have sold her to the Vampires indefinitely.", one of the warriors chimed in, unable to hold his tongue.

Grant was unable to pinpoint who spoke in his rage.

"THEN I WILL KILL THEM ALL. That freak of a female is rightfully mine, given by the Moon Goddess!! If anyone is to take her fucking life, its-", Grant stopped in his tracks as the door to the room flung open.

A young warrior, Ben, ran inside, his face red from taking such haste. In his hands was a black backpack.

"Future Alpha, we found this a few miles West in the undergrowth, but no sign of the defect", he panted.

Grants eyes windened, he knew where she was heading.

"She went to the humans. I need a squad to head to the Human villages, now! Find my fucking mate!!", his last scream was a direct order. Though he was not yet Alpha, every shifter in the room felt his aura.

Grant was not yet wise. Neither his father begore him, Alpha Graeme. Their instincts were too overcome by their emotions, acting on impulse instead of calculating their moves.

The Eclipse Pack was not the strongest amongst the Five Packs, but they were the richest by far and unbelievably prejudice.

Their bigotry was not solely aimed at other species, but to other packs too. They refused their own people mates outside of their pack, not to sully their bloodlines.

Any kind of fraternizing with Vampires, Faes of even Humans was punishable by endless torture.

The entirety of the table rose, and each shifter broke into a run out of the packhouse. All except Grant.

Despite his rage and anticipation to find Aurelia, he did not believe it to be his duty ro find her.

Instead, he went to find himself a she-wolf to play with, to aire his frustrations if his body would allow it.
