Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Encounter at Rejuvenation Hall

"Get lost!" Without even glancing, Lin Yu swiftly delivered a kick, sending both individuals flying against the wall. They clutched their stomachs, blood trickling from their mouths, unable to stand.

Wang Liming stared at Lin Yu in horror, finally feeling fear. His body involuntarily trembled, but he maintained a tough facade. "Lin Yu, d-don't mess around. I'm telling you, if you dare touch me, my big brother, Baldy, will have you killed."

Lin Yu glanced at him sorrowfully. This kid still couldn't grasp the situation. Even if he tried to be a troublemaker, he wouldn't achieve much.

Thinking of how he dared to harass Xiaoyan, Lin Yu felt disgusted, akin to seeing a toad chasing after a swan. Annoyance swelled within him, inadvertently strengthening his grip.

With a crisp snap, Wang Liming rolled on the ground, clutching his broken finger, howling in agony, no longer resembling a human.

"Remember this. If you dare to bother Xiaoyan again, I'll break all ten of your fingers," Lin Yu sneered, adjusted his clothes, slung his worn-out bag, and strode away, leaving three struggling figures behind.

He hadn't expected to encounter three toads right after leaving the house. Though he hadn't suffered, his good mood was ruined, leaving Lin Yu slightly vexed.

Regaining composure, he strolled onto the road after coming out of the alley, seeking a pharmacy.

There used to be an old and renowned Chinese herbal medicine hall nearby called Rejuvenation Hall. It seemed that it hadn't closed down upon his return; in fact, the shop had expanded, bustling with activity.

Rejuvenation Hall was the largest Chinese medicine hall in the vicinity, stocking almost every herb imaginable. They also had renowned resident traditional Chinese physicians, renowned figures on both sides.

Before leaving home, Lin Yu had visited this place a few times for herbs, and the results were satisfactory. Hence, today he planned to buy various herbs here for a special concoction to aid his grandparents' health.

The herbs were common and easy to find, but the specific formulation to regulate the body was known only to Lin Yu. The wisdom lay in the combination and dosage.

Just as he was about to leave after obtaining the herbs, a middle-aged man hurriedly entered the hall. He appeared to be in his early forties, tall and lean, with a commanding air about him.

However, his eyes were red, especially the left one, continuously tearing up. Out of curiosity, Lin Yu observed him carefully, and at a glance, he furrowed his brow. There was a shadow in the area of his liver, typical of liver fire rising—a sign that Lin Yu, with the use of his cultivated elemental force, could see things beyond normal vision, including seeing through a person's ailments. However, for complex cases, additional elemental force probing was required for a thorough analysis.

As he slowed his pace, he glanced back at the man. The man, who appeared restless, went straight to the counter. "Don't you have Chloramphenicol eye drops? Give me a bottle," he requested while rubbing his eyes with a handkerchief.

Lin Yu immediately understood the situation. Chloramphenicol eye drops were typically used to treat acute conjunctivitis and related eye ailments. The man must have come for this medicine due to discomfort caused by redness and swelling in his eyes.

He furrowed his brow, silently shaking his head. He had mistakenly prescribed medication to himself. He had clearly seen that the man's redness was due to liver fire, so the treatment should have targeted the root cause rather than prescribing Western medicine to alleviate the symptoms. This approach not only wouldn't cure the illness but could potentially worsen it, leading to unforeseen complications.

He hesitated, contemplating whether to meddle and kindly inform the man of the actual situation.

While he was pondering, the elderly physician in his sixties, seated nearby, approached. He carefully examined the man's eyes and remarked, "Sir, using Chloramphenicol eye drops, are you seeking treatment for your eye ailment?"

The elderly doctor, with silvery hair and a lively spirit, appeared rather experienced and insightful. To Lin Yu's eyes, he seemed quite knowledgeable. Moreover, upon closer inspection, there seemed to be a faint flow of energy within his body, indicating that he was not only a doctor but also someone well-versed in Chinese martial arts. Though different from Lin Yu's practice, such individuals were rare among ordinary people.

Lin Yu's interest was piqued, and he stopped, listening intently with increasing curiosity.

"Yes, what's the matter?" The middle-aged man glanced at him, rubbing his eyes with the handkerchief. However, his expression conveyed his impatience. Naturally, anyone who fell ill would feel anxious, so his agitation was understandable.

"Sir, please don't be in a rush. I'm doing this for your good. If possible, let me check your pulse," the elderly physician kindly suggested.

The middle-aged man furrowed his brow, growing more serious. He scrutinized the doctor but didn't extend his hand. Instead, he asked, "Who are you? Do you have a medical license? You should know that practicing medicine without proper credentials is illegal."

"Hey, sir, please show some respect. Why are you interrogating him as if he's in a police station? This gentleman isn't one of our resident physicians at Rejuvenation Hall. He's Mr. Fan Zhengping, the Deputy Director of the Provincial Traditional Medicine Research Center and a renowned professor of traditional Chinese medicine at Chu Tian University. Our boss is a relative of Mr. Fan, and he's passing by today. Usually, many people want to see him for treatment, even high-ranking officials from the province. You probably won't make it to his appointment list," the girl at the counter, annoyed, stood up, glared at the middle-aged man, and scoffed.

"Heh, quite a collection of titles," Lin Yu chuckled, increasingly interested in observing further.

Fan Zhengping smiled and remained silent, merely gesturing to the girl, "These titles are just superficial. What's the point in bringing them up?"
