Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

The house was a bit too quiet. Liam is around so she expects him to be doing stuff with her creation.

She's been busy for hours preparing a mildly toxic neurotoxin that would reduce the strength of Null's V.P. from his current score to score-F.

It was a pill he needed to take once every week to keep him in check.

When she entered Null's room without knocking she was surprised that Null was communicating with Liam by writing on his palm.

A hint of jealousy hit her heart seeing this. Null knew of her presence, so he looked up at her.

Liam who planned on ignoring her presence was irritated almost immediately.

"It's time for your medication, Null," she said speaking like a loving mother.

Null stood up and walked to her. She then handed him his pill. "You would need water with that," she said. "When you go out, go into the hallway and take water from the purifier.

Null looked at the pill and then nodded.

Once he left, Hannah turned to Liam. "So who is Null?" he asked in interest.

"My son," Hannah replies.

Liam snorts. "Yeah right," he said. "You two don't look remotely alike, he's mute and you two obviously haven't communicated at all," he said.

"Government secret," Hannah replies coldly daunting her eyes at him.

"I was partaking in an experiment. You were testing his strength and mine, so I think I deserve to know," Liam said nonchalantly. "I could always ask my grandfather about it, you know he wouldn't hide anything from me."

Hannah sighed in surrender. "Null is a Score-S+ weapon that was designed to bring an end to the empire," Hannah explained.

"A weapon?" Liam said chuckling, not believing her. "Are you saying he's some kind of android?" he asked.

Hannah raised an eyebrow at him. "Did he feel like an android?" she answers back.

"So he's human, why call him a weapon then?"

Hannah raised her finger. "He's not quite human," she said walking to him. "He is seventy percent human, the rest of him is of the dangerous Score-S+ beast that existed during the dark ages," she said.

Liam knows the creature she is talking about. A creature that had a V.P. and was almost impossible to defeat. Only by decapitating the creature could it have been defeated.

"How do you know this?" he asked.

Hannah chuckled. "I was the one who created him," she said pointing to herself proudly. "I was a part of the enemy country, I created him," she said.

Liam didn't believe her. "It is biologically impossible to--"

"Merge the DNA of the monster with that of a human?" Hannah finished his sentence and then began laughing. "That is true," she said. "Despite being a soldier, I was a brilliant genetics engineer, biochemist, biologist, assistant head scientist during a research program of V.P. and its origins, and I was also the one who created him."

"You were from Celuremia?" Liam asked pointing to Hannah.

"The older soldiers know," Hannah replies. "Z_0:00 is very dangerous and I know what he is capable of," she said seriously. "I wrote his genetic code and I put a fail-safe there for him to only react to a special kind of neurotoxin in case anything went wrong."

"You are speaking as though you have seen the future," he said.

"That's because I have seen and lived through the future," she said. "I know the fates of you and both countries. You would die by Null's hands with your heart in his hand, you lasted the longest, which was quite impressive, I almost had hope that you'd win."

"Is that why you asked us to fight?"

"You are a medically diagnosed psychopath and sadist. Your love for fighting and inflicting pain on others is enough to put you in prison or a mental facility, unfortunately, we are at war and your behavior is what is mostly encouraged, but it seems like you've taken a liking to Null, for some weird reason."

"He's a great competition," Liam said honestly. "If I died by his hands, then I must have died happily," he said smiling.

"Weirdo. Anyway, I plan on reducing his score to F and allowing him to live as a normal child," she said then began to worry a bit. "He's been gone for too long," she said then left to go to the kitchen only to find Null looking at the water purifier.

Hannah pinches the bridge of her nose shaking her head in disbelief. "They didn't teach you anything that doesn't have to deal with the military?" she asked.

Null looks at her tilting his head slightly to the left. His confusion wasn't obvious, but he was still confused. "Not surprising, he doesn't know what a keychain is," Liam said.

Null was holding a glass, but he was in front of the purifier unsure of what he could do.

And to be honest, this scene was adorable in Hannah's eyes. She took out her phone and took a picture of him. Liam glances at her. "What can I say, he's cute when he doesn't know what to do," she said taking several more. "He looks like a lost kitten. I want to dress him up so badly. I should order some onesies for him before I send him to school."

"Military school?" Liam asked.

Hannah scoffs. "The school of famous psychopaths trained to be killers?" she said in a sarcastic tone. "No thanks," she said. "It would probably trigger his instinct to kill, he's not going there."

Liam pouts. "Does this mean I wouldn't be able to fight my little battle angel?" he said pitifully.

Hannah's face scrunches up in disgust. "What is with your weird nicknames?" she said.

"At least my weird nicknames for him are better than the name you gave him," Liam said.

"Null translates to his lab name, you are smart, you should know what it means," she said going to help Null with water.

'So his name means nothing?' Liam thought looking at Hannah as she helped Null who watched her closely. 'Sunshine is much better than that.'

"I'm sticking to my nickname for him. He prefers it, right sunshine?" he said looking at Null who was drinking water after taking his pill.

Null felt his power dropping vastly after taking the pill. He looks at Hannah as if asking what she gave him. "Don't worry about it," she said.

Liam was left out but didn't care. He understood what was going on. 'The medication Hannah gave him must have reduced his score level,' he thought, and then he slowly became angry. Why reduce his score? The stronger he is the better, how would he be able to fight someone who is said to rip his heart out in the future if they are weak?

He saw Null walking closer to him took his palm and wrote on it. 'What is a school?'

Whatever Liam thought about fighting stopped. Instead, his mind was filled with a hint of concern. "He doesn't know what a school is," he said.

Hannah said nothing as she was bubbling with jealousy. "Well then tell him, since he asked you!" she said leaving them alone in the kitchen.
