Anna sprang forward with her claws reached out towards Maximus's face as maximus leaned to the side with his sword at the ready responding with a swift strike at Anna's ribs but to his surprise Anna turned her forward momentum from her punch into a sped up motion meeting his sword with her foot. Upon impact the wooden sword broke but the kick continued forward slightly hitting Maximus's arm but in this moment the two went even faster and kept exchanging blows. Anna jumped back causing Maximus to dash forward saying "Mana Blade" At this point Anna wore a serious expression as she did a gesture and pushed forward what can only be known as a ball of mana. At this point Maximus said "Protect" as a thin layer of mana eveloped him and he sliced the mana ball causing an explosion blasting them both back. They both just stared at each other from a distance wearing serious expressions.
Maximus's hand twitched holding the mana blade with their being a brief pause in action. The stare only lasted for 1 second before Anna said " Ice Shard" breaking the silence Maximus appeared to be struggling as he said "Not going to say meow this time" as he slashed through the ice shards coming towards him getting annoyed from being on the back end of the attacks for so long. He said "Fireball" engulfing the remaining ice shards coming his was causing it to be a steamy atmosphere with the visibility reducing with each clash of fireball and ice shards until they both became shadows in the mist. Clashing could be heard but through the strikes Anna could be heard crying saying "I hate you humans… all you ever do is take." from this point on the clashing fell silent as all the fog was blown away revealing Anna's teary eyed face holding a strong ball of wind with a dense mana ball in the center of it. Maximus looked at Anna holding the energy in her hand as he said " Spare me the charity. Do you think you are the only one that experiences pain." Maximus erased his mana sword and leaped towards the ball of energy Anna was holding. A professor with a panicked expression ran up to the Headmaster and said "Headmaster I strongly advise we end this before.." The Headmaster cut him off "Do you think I dont know how to do my job or something. These are kids yes but skilled ones. This evaluation is just as important for us to see their full abilities. No one else can push the hero to his limits like that girl. Plus they are both at their limits neither one has any mana left after this. This will teach that boy that his title as hero does not mean he can't be passed if he does not put in the work while also forcing that girl to take this academy seriously."
Maximus reached forward towards the energy Anna was holding as she thrust it forward. Maximus said "Rift" absorbing the energy with slight scratches and a little bit of blood coming from the corner of his lips. Both of them looked extremely exhausted after this exchange. They began to move towards eachother again with Anna throwing punches that were landing screaming " You monsters kill everything you touch.. My father..My mother. I will kill… No I will exterminate all of you" Maximus stumbled back and began throwing punches landing an immense blow to her gut saying "Beastman like you are the reason I'm here. Hate is ignorance without understanding. You would kill them all meaning the babies the kids and the elderly just like they did?" As he knocked Anne to the ground he said "Your not strong enough to hate me just like I am not strong enough to hate you. If anything you should hate being weak" Anne stood back on her feet embarrassed and irritated "How dare you lecture me when you don't know what true pain is. I seen what humans will do when given the chance.. My village is proof of that" Anna started throwing kicks and strikes in a flurry while Maximus just blocked and began speaking again " I am selfish and greedy because I want to take away all of the hate in the world and add it to my own hate of being weak to become strong enough to erase our hate for eachother" He punched Anna's jaw while Anna landed a knee on his chin ending the match with them both being knocked out.
The headmaster looked over at the professor that challenged his judgement with a smirk saying " Now you can attend to them they merely both passed out due to exhaustion". The next person up was Freya who began walking to the platform until she noticed the guy they paired her against and pointed at the headmaster causing the professor to walk towards her saying "what insolence.." Then the headmaster put his hands up like he was trying to swat a fly and the teacher backed away as the headmaster said "speak child "I don't want to fight anyone else besides Shogi today" Shogi felt his heart drop to his ass because if the headmaster allowed this then there was a good chance he could lose. The headmaster thought about this and talked quietly to some professors and said " I will allow this". "Emergency quest issued Defeat Freya. Rewards new ability plus 5 stats in every category and information" Shogi looked at this message and thought man I want these rewards but I only recovered 10 mana giving me a total of 60 not to mention I'm limited in my abilities. Shogi walked towards the stage saying inwardly "system do I have a chance of beating Freya" The system said "The host has a 30% chance at victory". Thanks for the confidence boost system.
Freya looked at Shogi with what could only be described as flames in her eyes as she said "I refuse to let you out do me. I will be the best. I have to be the best". Shogi sharpened his gaze and said "I don't care about being the best but I will win this match". Freya was enraged at this statement and started taking steps towards Shogi before the match even started. Shogi began to move forward in fear of losing positioning and right as they began to sprint towards the center the signal to start was given. They clashed wooden swords pushing eachother back Shogi needed to gauge how much magic she had left so he activated mana scan briefly noticing she only had half of her mana left. Shogi darted forward as she said frost causing it to get cold with pelts of hail flying towards Shogi from time to time. Shogi activated nature magic using 30 mana forcing a vine to burst from under the ground disrupting Freya's magic. And entangling Freya pinning her down as Shogi walked towards her Disarming her saying "Do you.." Freya said "Ignite" and the area became covered with flames as Freya said "How arrogant" as she rose up swinging her hands at Shogi who was blocking with his wooden sword until his hand grew hot throwing the wooden sword to the ground. Noticing his wooden sword was on fire. Freya dropped kicked Shoggi dropping him to the ground and said "pay attention."
Shogi looked at the sky thinking I only have 29 mana left. His chest hurts but he wanted those system rewards. He thought back to the previous match where he saw Anna perform that mana ball thing. Remembering his old life thinking about how cool it would be to have an ability like that. He really desired that ability but what was that ability? Freya threw an axe kick at him snapping him out of his pondering. Shogi began trying to focus his mana in his hand but it just looked like a weird watery blob disappearing lacking substance losing 5 mana leaving him at 24 mana. The system interrupted his thoughts saying "the host lacked intention for the mana therefore it lost form. The host must give the mana a proper shape and intention as this is combat the intention should be damage" Freya leaped forward with another relentless assault but Shogi and Freya were evenly matched until Freya did something Shogi wasn't expecting she stepped on his foot and when he tried to pull back she headbutted him forcing him to stagger back as she poured her last mana into this attack it was a fire ball at close range Shogi feeling the heat knew he had to do something he activated swift narrowly dodging the fireball but the blast pushed him forward when he saw his crystal chip in his bracelet. Luckily it didn't break and he attempted to create the mana ball again putting everything into creating this as it took form he dodged an incoming hit from Freya slamming his mana into Freya sending her flying when he heard a chrystal break noticing his chrystal had broken he assumed he lost. Until Freya stood up with dark static coming from her body as she said " I must win" dropping to the ground. "Quest complete Defeat Freya" New ability detect Demon energy is a passive ability that detects all demon energy even if an item tries to suppress it.
The rest of the matches came to a conclusion. Deadmaster Drakus looked at all the students and said " Remember today because everyone that is here today is here for a reason. Everyone here is going to be somebody one day so act like it from this day forward. Future leaders of Terrace this is your class the Class of Silvermoon remember that name as this day forward it will be the most effective network tool you have." The headmaster nodded in approval " You all have a long way to go. The results are being compiled and will be complete shortly"
The headmaster whispered "what do we know about Freya?"
