Shogi thought back to his fight with Freya and realized he didn't have enough ranged attacks or ways to close the distance. Freya outclassed him at every corner and it was honestly a miracle he ranked above her. Shogi put on his school uniform when he felt a beeping in his pocket and he pulled out what felt like a card. The card looked like a crystal card. Upon pulling the card out of his pocket he saw a projection of a Dark Elf who began speaking " I am Professor Nightshade and I will be responsible for imparting knowledge on all who have been deemed worthy to be in the special class. We will start today with a tour of the facility if you inject your mana into the card it will guide you to your classroom. I look forward to meeting you all." Shogi injected mana into his card and felt a tugging sensation as the card gently tugged in the direction he was supposed to go. Shortly after following this sensation he was brought to a class. Shogi walked in and the Professor gestured for him to have a seat. The class room was built like a rounded out mini movie theatre. Shogi looked around trying to decide where to sit and noticed Zen sitting in the back but when Shogi looked at Zen he just clicked his teeth and turned his head. All Shogi could think is whats his fucking problem. I don't wanna sit next to Mr.Bad vibes anyway. There is plenty of room as he looked around. He didn't want to look incompetent so he just hurried up and picked a seat all the way to the left.
The next person to walk through the door was Freya who glanced at shogi for a brief moment and sat 2 seats down from Shogi. Shogi saw a faint dark red aura coming off Freya but it didn't make sense because Freya was an elf so she couldn't possibly be a demon right? The system responded with " The red and black aura detected is the Demon energy. Possibility for the Aura being faint is due to suppression or sealment. The energy would be nearly impossible to detect by anyone other than the host due to such light traces." King walks in the room going straight to the back sitting a few seats away from Zen. When Maximus walked in with Anna as they both started to speak Maximus finally got his words out first " Crazy running into you like this" his face flushed red with embarrassment. Anna said " I was about to say the same thing meow" her face a little red too. It looked like a comedy routine as they both kept walking in front of eachother trying to get a seat until they finally got passed eachother as Anna took a seat in the back close to King and Zen. Maximus looked at Shogi and said do you mind if I sit there as he took a seat. Shogi said I don't care. This shocked Maximus for a moment because he was so use to people being so bidder towards him he smiled looking relieved.
The professor turned his back to the class as he began speaking and writing on the board "Hello class my name is Professor Nightshade today we are going to talk about the rules in the school before the tour, as you can see this school is only possible thanks to every nation coming together and investing in this place. Even though this is located in the Elven capital we have teachers and technologies of every race. The school cloak your wearing has your family name on it and your nations Symbol. The school rules that you need to remember is no fighting is allowed if you feel that strongly then you may issue a challenge. The school has a ranking system but your first 4 years you can only fight students in your class your entrance scores are your starting positions. Failure to accept a challenge after 3 days will lead to you losing your rank to the challenger. You may not use the school grounds as a means to recruit for your militaries. Disrespect towards professors can lead to expulsion or worse. Today we will tour the library, The arena where you can practice or issue challenges., The cafeteria , the workshop where you can look at the forging processes, the crystal facility where we imbue magic in crystals and the various shops around town."
The professor sighed like he was sick of everything already. The professor said "if you have any questions keep it to yourself." We walked around the facilities and everything looked amazing. The cafeteria was filled with conversation. Everyone can be seen laughing and talking to eachother. When they walked in the cafeteria the silence spread like wild fire until eventually no one was talking. While the professor escorted the class all around the facility murmering could be heard amongst the students "Humans don't belong here." Everyone's hostility was evident with no one even trying to hide it. Shogi looked over at Maximus who had all the attention on him trying to gauge how he was managing all of the stress but he just took a deep breathe in and on his exhale he let a fart rip. Everyone began laughing with the professor visible irritated with Maximus's face being a little red. He whispered to Shogi "I thought it was gonna be the silent kind" Shogi couldn't help but laugh and marvel at how the hero managed all the hate. It was almost suffocating and in one moment he changed the environment. Shogi said "Sure you did."
When they finished their tour of the cafeteria and began to make their exit a Dwarf bumped into Maximus spilling his tray in the center of his chest. The dwarf didn't look the least bit apologetic about it as he said "My bad" the sarcasm in his voice was apparent. Maximus looked down at his shirt brushing it off saying "no problem" with a smile. Shogi grabbed the dwarf by his shoulder before he left and said "But don't let it happen again" The Dwarf ripped his shoulder from Shogi's grasp saying "You better watch yourself. I won't forget a face." When the dwarf returned to his table everyone cheered him on like a hero. Maximus looked at Shogi with puzzlement and said "Thanks but why did you help me?" Shogi just replied " I don't know my body kinda just moved on it's own". This was the first time that Shogi could actually stand up for someone else and it felt good. Shogi was never really the type to take the spot light he has always been a background character but even a background character can be given significance in the right settings. All these complex thoughts raced through his mind until Maximus looked at Shogi and said "I appreciate you but I can handle myself I don't want you getting caught up. This burden is mines alone to bare". Shogi seen his resolve and said " Why should you get punished for something you weren't even alive for" Maximus replied "Because life is not fair". This didn't sound like a conversation amongst kids.
The tour continued as they went to all the facilities until they got to the arena that was shaped like a huge dome like a football stadium. The professor began to speak " This is the arena where you will compete in practice bouts and have some classes. When competing in the arena a barrier is put up not allowing anyone from the outside to interfere. Contestants in the arena will be given 2 sets of bracelets one upon sustaining a certain amount of damage from mana you will be transported out of the arena the 2nd one will transport you out after a certain amount of physical damage has been reached. There will be an official for every match to ensure no foul play."
Everyone went back to the classroom and the professor turned his back to the class again and said " Lets begin the first lesson of the day." We are going to start with something simple. The first lesson is going to be on Mana Application. Mana has a specific trait for everyone with exceptions of certain blessings and the ones who bare the hero title." The professor pulls a crystal ball out and says "everyone has an elemental affinity and today we are going to confirm those affinities. Big beast dude come here." King walked to the crystal and said "My name is King" The professor ignored him and said "watch as he touches the crystal it will change the color in accordance of his affinity" Upon King touching the crystal it glowed brown. The Professor said " You have an earth affinity" The next person to come up was Zen as he touched the ball it was half black and half a smoky haze like a storm. "You have the lightning and Dark affinity" The next person to come up was Anna " As she touched the crystal ball it turned light green and the other half was blue" You have water and wind affinity" Freya walked up there proud putting her hands on the crystal when something strange happened the crystal glowed the color of a rainbow. "This doesn't make since" The professor said. Freya looked at him saying " I'm just that awesome right". The professor just said " You have every elemental affinity". This confused everyone as Freya just sported a smile as she strut back to her seat. The professor regained his composure. Shogi walked up touching the crystal ball at this moment the crystal shined bright and emitted a golden glow." The professor looked at the crystal strangely for a second and said " You have the.. Light affinity" the professor didn't look confident in his statement. Shogi wondered if it was a coincident he ended up choosing a spell he had an affinity with for his first spell.
The professor looked at Maximus and said "come touch the crystal kid" Maximus walked over and touched the crystal and it glowed like a rainbow the same as it did for Freya. The professor began to speak again " As you can see the hero typically has every elemental affinity. The purpose of knowing your element is that it cost less and it is nearly impossible to use elements your not compatible with unless your willing to drain most of your mana supply. The type of casting you all used in the placement test was called basic magic. Another form of magic I will be teaching you is called affinity magic. Affinity magic is when you manipulate an element you have a natural affinity with by utilizing it naturally occurring. If someone that has water affinity used a pool of water that was already there it cost less than creating it through mana. The other type of magic is Bloodline magic which very's by race. This was a lot of energy be diligent in your studies because I hate repeating myself." The professor just walked out waving his hand without looking back.
