Chapter 53 - Klaue

If Zane didn't use any skills, in a hand-to-hand fight, Skynet could easily beat him now!

However, nothing in the world is absolutely perfect, and molecular robots are no exception. Although they are powerful, they still have two fatal flaws.

The first one is susceptibility to control by Magneto and the current Lorna. Molecular robots rely on magnetic energy to gather, so once they encounter someone who can manipulate magnetic energy, maintaining a humanoid form might be a big problem.

The second is the exorbitant cost. Transforming a complete human into a molecular robot requires about 10 kilograms of vibranium. Considering vibranium is currently sold by the gram, and it's also a scarce commodity, it's not something you can easily purchase without reaching a certain status.

However, Zane considered the second flaw not to be a problem. He developed this technology primarily for Wakanda, and Wakanda lacks anything but vibranium.

After deducting the vibranium wasted in experiments, only the amount needed to control a person remains.

Holding the molecular robot made from the last batch of vibranium, Zane walked up to Klaue.

A few days had passed, and Klaue was no longer as composed as he was when they last met. When he saw Zane, he anxiously ran to the glass, speaking urgently through the bulletproof glass:

"I'll give you all the remaining vibranium. Let me go; that's all I'm worth to you."

It wasn't that Klaue was being cowardly. He had been imprisoned by opponents before, even for longer periods than this time.

However, it was essential to note that he was now in a glass prison, and every day, Klaue could witness more than ten people being tortured (experimented on) to death by Skynet.

Moreover, the deaths were increasingly gruesome, with some becoming unrecognizable (due to the failure of the molecular robot and human cell combination).

This had been going on for more than ten days, and seeing the main character arrive again, Klaue wisely chose to surrender, hoping to hand over the vibranium and get a chance to live.

Facing Klaue's plea, Zane just smiled slightly and said nothing. Waving his hand, he had Skynet open the door of the glass prison. As the glass door opened, Klaue seemed to see a glimmer of hope in his life, but before he could be happy—

Zane's hand had already gripped his neck. Without waiting for him to say anything, Zane directly stuffed the molecular robot in his other hand into Klaue's mouth and threw him to the ground.

Countless molecular robots spread slowly throughout Klaue's body through his skin, blood vessels, and muscles. Zane could clearly see black patterns appearing and disappearing on Klaue's body.

Three minutes later, Klaue stood up again, but the cunning in his eyes had long disappeared, replaced by a machine-like coldness.

Zane's [Death River] automatically added one more resurrection, and the soul space of [Son of Death] gained another human soul.

"It seems that the consciousness of the target is killed during the transformation, not assimilated." Zane contemplated.

As for why Zane didn't kill the target and then use [Son of Death] to control his soul—since the manifested soul of [Son of Death] was no different from the entity—it was mainly because Skynet developed this technology.

In fact, the souls manifested by [Son of Death], except for Skynet, were just mindless combat puppets. Zane had experimented early on; if the manifested souls could maintain complete consciousness, then [Son of Death] would not be an A-level skill but an S-level skill. So, Zane wanted Skynet to develop this technology, not for its own sake.

Therefore, Zane tasked Skynet with developing this technology both for the invasion of Wakanda and for his own future faction. After all, as a boss, he couldn't personally handle everything.

"Klaue, tell me where you hid the remaining vibranium," Zane looked at the transformed Klaue and asked.

"I hid the rest in a house in New York City," Klaue replied emotionlessly.

Zane frowned and looked at Skynet.

"Skynet, do the transformed people have no emotions yet?"

"Yes, boss. I haven't had time to write an emotional template. After writing it, the system will automatically express a personality and emotions identical to the original, based on the person's memories. Moreover, you can install combat programs to input various combat skills." Skynet explained.

"That's good. You and him go get the vibranium back, then transform it all into molecular robots. Remember to write that emotional template; I have a great use for it." Zane commanded.

Skynet and Klaue nodded, took a car, and left.

Meanwhile, Zane looked at the young African American teenager who had been captured with Klaue, the current Black Panther's nephew, Erik. At this moment, Erik witnessed the entire process of Klaue's transformation, his face filled with fear and despair. Even a hint of determination to die was revealed in his eyes.

"Skynet, keep an eye on him. Don't let him commit suicide. Create a new molecular robot and transform this kid as soon as possible." Zane noticed that Erik had witnessed the entire transformation process of Klaue and instructed one of Skynet's avatars to keep an eye on him. Then, he used [Flash] to return to the mansion.

Zane noticed that Lorna was about to return, and dinner still needed to be prepared.

Actually, with Zane's current status, hiring a few private chefs to cook would not be a problem at all. However, Zane insisted that doing so lacked a homey atmosphere, and their cooking couldn't match his. After all, Zane's C-level skill, [Culinary Master], came from the protagonist Liu Angxing in the Chinese anime "Cooking Master Boy."

Every time after cooking, watching Lorna enjoy the meal with an oily mouth, Zane would feel a sense of satisfaction.
