Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: The King

Yuki endured excruciating pain as his flesh and blood crystallized; it was no laughing matter. He hoped for a quicker death, the virus consuming his chakra, making it stronger.

Activating Izanagi in his right eye, death seemed imminent.

This was a potent Doujutsu, capable of altering reality. He would use it to purge the virus from his body and prevent reinfection.

In the Shinobi world, such a virus didn't exist, but if it did, he knew all life might extinguish.

Perhaps, only Tsunade would know how to deal with this ailment. Despite learning medical jutsu from her, he lacked mastery and experience.

Reflecting on this, Yuki decided he needed to work harder.

As he hoped for his Doujutsu to activate, Yuki felt a pinch in his body.

(Eh?)

Intense heat surged through him, abruptly halting chakra consumption and blood crystallization. Something was changing his DNA, merging with him.

Yuki sensed it; there was something else in his body, something unfamiliar and unsettling.

(Did the pain stop?)

Though unwelcome, it was warm and pleasant, as if the world itself embraced him.

(Is this... the world helping me?)

Indeed, champions were beloved by worlds, acting as saviors. The world would go to great lengths to aid them, even altering its own laws.

In the Shinobi world, Yuki, born into it, felt embraced since birth. The world was robust, controlling destiny made it powerful yet vulnerable. Champions had no predetermined destiny, making them rare and more valuable than heroes.

Yuki experienced a shift in the world's laws, adapting to the absence of chakra and contamination.

Opening his eyes, the Sharingan spun. Yuki saw millions of crystals changing, absorbing and fusing with his chakra.

"I understand..."

Yuki found himself in a blank space with red and silver chains moving around.

"Yuki..." Turning, he saw Inori, a bit surprised.

"Inori... Why?"

"You saved me. I summoned you. I am responsible."

After a moment of silence, Yuki smiled.

"I see. Thank you. Take care of me from now on."

Extending his hand, Yuki knew what Inori wanted to say, her expressionless demeanor masked guilt.

This wasn't the first time Yuki saw this look in a woman; it was the same with Tsunade. The reasons differed, but the feeling was identical.

"Yes, take care... My king." Holding hands, they didn't break eye contact. Silver chains wrapped around Yuki's right arm, creating a mark resembling Zafkiel's clock.

Unperturbed, Yuki would explore this through Rasiel.

A beam of light shot into the sky, catching the attention of many, including Gai, leader of the Undertekar.

"The Void Genoma... Inori, you."

Confused, Gai recognized the significance of the light beam; someone had gained the power of the King.

Hours ago, he lost communication with Inori. Worried but trusting her, now he questioned.

"Gai... What is this?"

Without turning, Gai acknowledged the voice, Shibugin, the Undertaker's advisor.

"Yes. This is the power of the King."

Frowning, he looked at a young woman with long black hair, wearing a dark blue connection suit and a cat-ear-like electronic headband.

"Tsugumi, locate Inori, quickly, before the Antibodies do."

"Yes! Yes!"

Tsugumi assisted with holograms and code streaming.

"Inori... Just who is the King?"

At the same time, in an unknown place, a young blonde man with ice-blue eyes opened his eyes. He wore a long white coat and black pants.

"The king has been chosen." Muttering softly, he stood up but soon frowned. Something bothered him.

"It's strange... Something's wrong." Holding his chin, he looked at the sky.

"The world..." Identifying the issue, he opened his mouth in shock. He could feel it; the power in the world trembled, its laws changed.

[No... It's not him.]

While contemplating what went wrong, a voice communicated in his head.

"What's wrong, Eva?"

[Shu... It's not Shu.]

Those words alone made the young man frown. Something went wrong—first, the world, now the King.

"What's happening?"

To create a new generation of humans, Daath had been studying the world for a thousand years; this had never happened before.

"No matter... I just have to eliminate whoever usurped the throne."

With a smile, a crack opened behind him, and he walked towards it, disappearing.
