Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Yuki, Liar

While all of this was happening, a young woman with brown hair was in a capsule; she was an Endlave pilot. Despite being quite far from the chaos, she looked on in astonishment at everything unfolding, finding it hard to believe that a single individual could bring about such destruction.

Peering through her Endlave, she was amazed by the feats unfolding before her. She knew that if she piloted and attacked "That," her Endlave would be split in half instantly, and being cleaved in two was not a pleasant sensation.

[Aya-nee, change of plans]

Originally intended as a decoy to allow Inori to escape, Ayase wasn't surprised by the change in plans.

"Here, what's the plan, Tsugumi?"

[I'll send you the details]

Reading the screen, Ayase was taken aback by the content. "Are they crazy? That thing is dangerous!"

[It's Gai's orders! Besides, that thing saved Inoreen before!]

Ayase hesitated but, knowing it was Gai's order, she reluctantly agreed, "Alright, if it's Gai's orders, I'll do it. Just make sure to get me out of there quickly."

[Don't worry, I'll get you out]

With those final words, Ayase bit her lip, knowing she would likely lose her Endlave tonight.

---

"Will it work, Gai?"

"It will! The antibodies suffered heavy losses; the chance of success is high."

Gai sighed at the massacre as he looked at the screen displaying hundreds of corpses.

"How's Tsugumi doing?"

"All in order! The defense is low."

Nodding, Gai addressed the rest of the Undertaker.

"Today, we'll do something different. The antibodies are finished, it's our chance to take out their command center."

"Ooh!"

Applause followed Gai's statement.

"Alright, Tsugumi will send you the plan details, but our primary mission is to rescue that thing."

Pointing at the screen, Gai indicated the masked figure, eliciting surprise from some members at the scale of destruction.

"Everyone to your positions!"

With that order, the assembled people dispersed. Gai glanced back at the screen, frowning.

"I hope you're not wrong, Inori."

*Bom, bom

After defeating the last Endlave, Yuki surveyed the destruction.

"Five minutes have passed... it's time to go."

*Pum... Pum...

(Tch)

Clicking his tongue, Yuki observed the military drones still in the sky, activating his Sharingan to dodge their missiles.

"This never ends... as expected in a world with superior technology."

The foot soldiers vanished, achieving one of Yuki's objectives. Although fear deepened in their hearts, the Endlave kept coming.

Looking at the new opponents, Yuki smiled.

"I'll finish you off before I leave..."

---

"Where's the target?"

[12 o'clock, 300 meters away, be careful; there are five more Endlave in the area.]

"No matter, the mission is to be the decoy, right?"

Sliding her Endlave, Ayase responded sarcastically.

[I don't like this either, you know?]

"You know what? Let's get this over with."

[That's the spirit!... Wait, Aya-nee! The target moved.]

*Bom

Stopping in time, Ayase saw the remains of another Endlave pass by. She couldn't contain her breath at this sight.

"Another one? Well, so be it!"

A chill ran down Ayase's spine. She looked ahead, and there stood the black-masked figure responsible for all of this.

"You better let me hear your screams!"

Ayase froze at the sight; the murderous intent emanating from "That" was immense. Profound fear gripped her heart as the figure blinked, and Ayase screamed.

"Stop! I'm on your side!"

"Eh?"

Yuki's sword halted instantly, and Ayase didn't know when "That" moved. Fear surged through her; her Endlave was about to be split in half.

Tsugumi was equally shocked; she didn't even have time to press the emergency button.

"On my side? You better explain."

"Yes! I am... a friend... of Inori."

With a trembling voice, Ayase looked at Yuki, who was now in front of her.

"Inori's friend?"

Yuki eyed the Endlave with suspicion; its color was different, and it hadn't attacked before.

"Can you connect me with her?"

Yuki didn't believe her, knowing this could be a trap.

"Yes... immediately... Tsugumi."

[I'm on it!]

Fortunately, they weren't lying. After a few seconds, Inori's voice could be heard.

[Yuki, you promised.]

"Haha, sorry Inori, got carried away."

[Yuki, the five minutes passed; you lied to me.]

Though devoid of emotion, Yuki could tell Inori was disappointed.

"No, no, I didn't lie! I was actually about to leave. You see, these things don't let me rest, so..."

[Yuki, liar.]

With those last words, the transmission cut off. Yuki shrugged; he had gone overboard, but it was for a common good. However, the fact that he lied was true.

Ayase and Tsugumi were incredulous; they couldn't help but respect Inori more for calming this bloodthirsty beast with a few words.

"Let's go, lead the way."

"Yes!"

Although Yuki's tone and aura had calmed down, Ayase wasn't foolish enough to do the same as Inori.

"Hm?"

[Get out quickly! More enemy Endlave are coming!]

Looking at the new opponents, Yuki was done with this.

"Go! I'll hold them off; follow this map, and you'll reach our base."

Handing a small device, Ayase showed a holographic map.

"I'm counting on you, Tsugumi!"

[Leave it to me!]

Watching this, Yuki sighed.

"Step aside a bit."

Walking in front of Ayase's Endlave, Yuki rotated his hand.

"What are you doing?! I told you to leave!"

"I don't take orders from you. Besides, Inori would be mad if I left her friend."

Without looking away, Yuki adjusted his breath before concentrating chakra in his right fist.

Ayase didn't know what to say now; he didn't listen, and she couldn't stop him. However, the incoming Endlave didn't wait, and they began firing.

*Bang bang

"Don't underestimate me, you scrap!"

*Boom!

Directing his fist to the ground, Yuki struck with all the chakra he could gather. His arm started to crystallize, and the ground shattered. The impact was significant, making even the already dilapidated building tremble before collapsing. The enemy Endlave weren't faring well either; the ground broke, causing them to lose balance and fall as the building collapsed.

Ayase and Tsugumi held their breath; the force behind that punch was more than enough to destroy a building. They looked at the small masked figure and wondered where that terrifying strength came from.

"It's done, let's go."

With a flick of his hand , Yuki jumped without caring about their reactions. He still had an objective to fulfill.

"Wait!"

Snapping out of her astonishment, Ayase watched Yuki leave.

"He's fast!"

Sliding with her Endlave, Ayase couldn't catch up to Yuki.

[Is he human?] Tsugumi also had doubts, observing him jump from one building to another at great speed, but Yuki paid no attention.

He just frowned, seeing his arm crystallize.

This further validated his theory about the stability of chakra levels.

"Ah! I just hope Inori's group has information that can help me."

Unable to contact Rasiel, he had to gather information as he used to in the past.

"I wonder what food Inori likes more..."

With a hand on his chin, Yuki contemplated how to bribe the young lady. After all, this trick never failed to capture damsels, and this lady was no exception.
