This seems to be the source of all problems in her, constantly comparing herself to her brother. If I am getting the gist of things correctly, Erolina pushed and pressed Nathanael since birth because as the first born, he simply has more power, and as the first born, he's the only one among her children who can compete for the title of perfect alpha… Or whatever the fuck they call it.
Ava has clearly always been an afterthought in her mother's mind. That's not to say she doesn't love her daughter, but evidently, she spends more time and effort coaching her son than looking after Ava.
