Chapter 16 - <System Evolution>What??!

"So, why am I titled "Chosen one"? I have never heard of that being used as a title."

Ray asked clueless.

The 11 members discussed it.

"Should we tell him?"

"Isn't it too early?"

"But he deserves to know, doesn't he?"

But then suddenly Voln stood up and said.

"It's because according to the "Grimoire of Prophesies"."

The other members were in disbelief when Voln nonchalantly said this, as the Grimoire of prophesies is one of the most ancient books ever and could not just be shared with anyone.

Then Rell took Voln by his suit and said.

"Voln! What has gotten into you!! You know that you can't just share that information with anyone!!" He said with an angered and frustrated tone.

"But he is the "Chosen One" so shouldn't he have a right to know?"

Then Gardan shouted.

"Enough!! If two members of the council fight here chaos will befall the people!"

Rell let go of Voln's suit.

"Tsk! Do whatever you want." He said with an annoyed tone.

"So, that's the reason as to why you have been titled, chosen one, and we have informed the imperial family of your existence." Another member who had 2 horns emanating an ice aura stated.

"Uh, may I know your name as well?" Ray asked unknowingly.

"Fiedrac Fardes, I am one of the last Ice dragon left on this world."

'A dragon?? They were still some of them left?'

Ray thought this as long ago, most of the dragons were annihilated by a being known as the "Dragon slayer" the dragons fought for their lives but could not do anything as the dragon slayer was simply too powerful, making the dragon hide themselves.

"So, since everything has been explained now, can I go?"

"Gardan, take the child and go back to the academy." The member sitting on the most majestic throne said.

But Ray could not figure out what this member was, as he was covered in darkness making it impossible to see who he was.

But just those words sent shivers down Ray's spine and when the figure said that the headmaster immediately went to Ray.

'Who is that?' Ray squinted his eyes trying to figure out who was the dark figure, and had already deduced that it was most likely the leader of the council.

"Ray, let us return to the academy."

The headmaster said before teleporting both of them back to the academy's main street, and suddenly after Ray teleported there the headmaster was nowhere to be found and due to the fact that Ray hadn't been on the main street of the academy before he was overwhelmed by the amount of people around him and the buildings that surrounded them.

"This was in the academy??"

'Why are there so many people here, most of them aren't even students, they're probably people who're here to make a living.'

Ray immediately calmed himself.

"If this is in the academy I can easily go back to the diamond mansion If I just ask."

Ray roamed around the street asking people who seemed to be students or at least staffs in the academy where the way to the diamond mansion was.

"Uh, may I know where the diamond mansion is?"

Ray asked.

"Oh, of course I do."

Since Ray wasn't currently wearing the diamond class's clothes he was mistaken as someone who just had some business there.

"It's over there."

The man pointed.

"But I think it'll be easier for me to personally take you there, and what would be the reason for you to go to the diamond mansion?" The man asked not knowing who Ray was.

'I guess it'll be fun for me to mess with him a little.'

"Oh I'm going there to visit my brother!" Ray said enthusiastically.

"Oh, so your brother is a diamond student?"

"Yes!"

They walke dto the direction the man pointed in, and after a while of walking when Ray looked back to where they came from the main street couldn't be seen as not they were at a forest.

---------------

Some time passed and now the surroundings became familiar to Ray.

But he kept following the man.

'Wait, this is the wrong way, before I thought that we were actually going to the diamond mansion.'

Ray suspected the man was trying to kidnap him, but he found it funny as he held back his laugh, following the man from behind.

'Is he actually trying to kidnap me? This is the best! I can actually have some fun in this world.'

"We've been walking for a while now, I don't think this is the way to the diamond mansion."

The man laughed hysterically.

"Of course it isn't! Should you really have followed some random guy into the forest!! If you still haven't noticed I'm gonna kidnap you kid."

"W-wait, I thought you were actually going to lead me there." Ray's voice turned cold.

"Wait, what's with the atmosphere?"

The surroundings began to heat up.

"What's happening it's suddenly so hot in here." He asked unknowingly

"And should you really have picked up a random kid you just saw without knowing who he was?" Ray asked as he laughed.

Then the realization came into the man's mind.

"Ah, so you weren't going to the diamond mansion to find your brother, you were going because you were a diamond student."

The man said realizing the mistake he had just made.

The surroundings were now catching on fire, but to prevent a large scale damage to the forest Ray put up a barrier.

*sigh*

"I don't wanna be a pathetic man that would beg for his life, so just kill me."

Ray gasped.

"You think that I, the innocent Ray Grandfell would kill a man?"

"Oh, so you were Ray Grandfell."

'This guy is boring it's like he's emotionless or something, I was going to play with him but I guess there's no need."

"Well it's goodbye then."

Ray then incinerated the man not even leaving his ashes.

"Oh actually I could've just flew up and looked for the mansion."

Then Ray was in sudden pain.

"W-what have I done! I just killed someone, and so coldly at that."

Ray was in disbelief at what he just did.

"What happened to me."

Ray then woke up from his bed.

"Wait, where am I? Weren't I just in the forest?"

"You were." A female voice suddenly said.

But when Ray looked around his room no one was there.

"Am I hallucinating??"

"No you aren't."

Then the voice became more familiar.

"Wait, are you the system??"

"Yes, I am."

Ray was bewildered as even when in his past life the system could not freely have a conversation with someone.

"Wait, then how did I get here?"

"I warped you here."

"What??"

Ray was now even more in disbelief as this was the first time the system personally intervened on its own.

"Since when could you do that?"

"Calculating...it's been an hour since I evolved and I am now the System of Evolution, you can address me as Uriel."

"Systems could evolve?"

"Yes, but due to Earth having low mana density systems couldn't gather enough mana to evolve themselves."

"But wait, what happened earlier??"

"That was a side effect of me suddenly evolving."

"So I killed someone because my System evolved?"

Ray still couldn't believe what he had done but soon the guilt he's currently feeling would fade.

"I should go out now."

Ray then stood up from his bed and got out of his room.

After he got out he went to the first floor only to see everyone there.

"Ray? How are you there, we didn't even see you enter the door."

'Oh I didn't think about that, what should I say?'

"I learned teleportation when I was at the council of magi."

When everyone heard this they couldn't believe it.

"In that short amount of time?!"

"I-i guess..."

"We were waiting for you to come back here for a while though."

"So what did the council of magi discuss with you?" Lucas asked.
