Chapter 17 - First Class, Battle Magic

After Ray had finished explaining everything that happened when he was at the council of magi, excluding the classified information everyone was worried after hearing that an extremely powerful demon might have been born after Ray was.

----

And the following days everyone did their best and trained and learned more about magic, until it was time for their first class.

On the 1st day of the 5th month, Sunrise.

The first 5 classes are mandatory but after these 5 classes students can pick which they want to attend.

"Ray." A female voice repeatedly called out to Ray as he was sleeping.

"What!"

"Ray, it is now the 1st day in the 5th month of the Galactic calendar."

"Uriel?"

Ray then stood up from his bed and then only realizing that it was already sunrise.

And as he panicked realizing that he was going to be late to his first class.

He hurriedly got ready and as he ran out of his room he noticed everyone already left then he immediately flew towards the main building of the academy where the class was going to take place in.

'Why is the diamond class's dorm so far away from the main building anyway??'

And as Ray finally got out of the forest he headed for a large building covering almost half of the entire academy, which was as large as the city of magic.

Ray had a map showing where all the classes were going to take place in, which was given to all students.

And finally Ray reached the class and he luckily wasn't late as he entered a wooden door reinforced with magic.

He saw both the diamond class and the gold class, silently waiting for the professor.

And as all of them looked at his direction some greeted him and others simply didn't do anything as they despised him, and others rushed towards him as they admired him.

"Tsk!"

Then someone approached Ray.

And as they were approaching him all the other students that gathered around Ray went back to their seats as they saw him.

"Don't you dare think that just because you won in the tournament your the best." He whispered.

'What's that guy's problem?'

Then suddenly the door opened as a man who wore a white coat entered the room.

Immediately the aura inside the room changed.

"Are you our professor?"

"Who else might I be."

He said with a cold tone.

"Everyone go to your seats."

Then the professor proceeded to write his name on the board.

"Now as you can see my name is Dontrus Heathun, I will be your Battle Magic Professor for this year."

"Okay, to start this class I have a question, what is the most basic spell in magic?"

Then several students raised their hands.

The professor then pointed at a student.

"You, What is the most basic spell?"

The student answered.

"Sir, If I'm right then it is, Slip?"

"Wrong."

The professor then pointed at another student.

The student smirked as he arrogantly said.

"It's Body Strengthening."

"Wrong"

After hearing this the student was flustered he was sure that his answer was correct.

Then Bell Grandise suddenly raised her hand.

"You."

The professor pointed at her.

Then Bell stood up and stated.

"That's a trick question, there is no such thing as the most basic spell."

The professor smiled.

"Correct!"

"Now may someone kindly tell me why there is no such thing as the most basic spell?"

Ray raised his hand.

"Because spells are separated through different categories and sub categories."

"Another correct answer, now may you state as to what these categories are?"

Ray then immediately answered.

"There are 2 types of spell, Utility and Battle Spells and Battle Spells are divided into four categories according to what element that you were blessed with, Flame, Water, Earth, And Air, If i explain further this might take some time."

"No, that's enough."

'Showing off when it's just the first day.'

After Ray answered the question the professor proceeded with their first lesson.

"Everyone I want you to conjure a fire ball."

"But sir wouldn't that be dangerous?"

"Just do as I say."

All of them then conjured fire balls.

"Now I want you to compress then until they're the size of your finger."

'Isn't that too much?'

The students gossiped as they thought it was too difficult.

"Everyone silence! Then instead of all of you compressing a fire ball how about...2 volunteers."

As expected Ray Raised his hand.

"Ray Grandfell and..."

Then another student Raised their hand.

"Oh, I didn't expect you to be the other one."

"Before both of you start introduce yourselves, you first Grandfell kid."

Ray then did as what the professor said and introduced himself.

"I'm Ray Grandfell From the diamond class."

Then the other student introduced themselves.

"Hello everyone! I'm Rose Flandenstein from the Gold Class."

'Flandenstein? I've never heard of them'

"Now both of you may start."

Then right after the professor gave them permission to start Both of them immediately started to compress the spell.

As the fire slowly started to become smaller and smaller it also became significantly more heavier.

But as expected Ray easily compressed the ball as it turned from an orange color to a bright red.

On the other hand, Rose was struggling.

"Do you need any help?" Ray asked.

"N-no!"

"Sure then."

The fire ball that Ray compressed was still hovering over his hand as Ray sat down and played with it.

'That boy's talent is the real deal!' The professor thought.

'But I may need to help her.'

Rose's Fire ball then suddenly started to spiral as it seemed like it would explode.

"T-This is bad."

Just as the professor was about to rush towards Rose, Ray had already made the fire ball calm down and also compressed it.

"Thanks."

'That kid is beyond what I expected, he's already advanced enough to dissipate chaos energy?'

"Okay guys that was close but now let's start the real lesson."
