Chapter 44 - Chapter Forty-Two: Severa

Words couldn't describe what Alex was feeling. He sat on a rock a few minutes walk away from the wolf girls cave, just sitting there emotionlessly as he was covered in the blood of the village people. He had killed before, sure, but this...was different. He killed to protect his family; he killed because he was hired to, but this...was different. Did those people deserve it? Maybe. But who was he to be judge, jury, and executioner? He slaughtered them with little to no mercy. They were fathers, brothers...sons and he still killed them all the same because he simply chose a side.

Alex looked at his hands; they were both stained blood red. He clenched them together before looking up into the now-starry sky.

"Mom...would you even recognize me now? Would Raven even still call me brother?"

These thoughts flowed through Alex's head, and a tear started to go down his cheek.

"Willem was right...I'm just a-"

"Alex?"

Interrupting Alex's thoughts was Reyna, who was watching from a distance.

"Are you okay?" Reyna asked.

"I...I'm fine. The problem is taken care of." Alex said it coldly, and his eyes darkened.

Reyna noticed how cold he was, and what she noticed most of all was the tear stain down his cheek. She didn't know what to say; she barely knew Alex. Hell, she basically only knew his name, but she still didn't want to see someone so physically hurt.

"Y-You know...if you want to talk-"

"I'm fine." Alex interrupted.

Reyna knew that was a lie, but she also knew there was nothing she could do.

"It's late. How about you stay with us for the night?" Reyna asked.

"..."

Alex didn't answer; instead, he just nodded and followed her.

The two arrived back at the cave, where they were greeted by Severa.

"Are you two okay?" Severa asked.

"I'm fine, mom, but..."

Alex said nothing as he walked under a tree and laid back on it.

"All that blood..." Severa said, looking at Alex. "Just what happened?"

"He killed all those villagers..." Reyna said with a little sadness.

"I see...Reyna go check on your sister." Severa ordered.

"Mom but-"

"Just trust me." Severa told her daughter.

Reyna nodded before heading inside the cave, while Severa walked up towards Alex and sat next to him.

"Did you need something?" Alex asked with the same cold voice as before.

"No." Severa said it plainly. "But I need to tell you...thank you."

"Thank you?" Alex asked.

"I understand what you did was terrible, but at the same time you saved myself and my daughters lives... I just wanted you to know that what you did is appreciated." Severa said, looking at Alex.

She knew he couldn't have been older than sixteen, which was almost the same age as her daughters. She had wondered where his family was and why he was out here alone. I could say it was her motherly instincts that made her want to help Alex, even if they started out on bad terms.

Severa put a hand on Alex's back and just felt him shaking in place. She could tell there was a storm brewing inside of his head, and she didn't know how to help. So she stood up and grabbed a bucket. A few minutes later, she came back with a rag, and the bucket was now filled with water.

"What are you doing?" Alex said.

"I'm cleaning you." Severa said. "It's not okay to be covered in blood all night."

"I'm fine." Alex said it coldly.

"Well, I don't care." Severa said, smirking. "Don't make me hit you."

"...fine." Alex said relunctantly.

"Good...now undress." Severa said it with a straight face.

"What...?"

Little did Alex know, Severa was a bit... assertive. Before he knew it, he was suddenly without a shirt and was covering his waist with a towel. Normally, a beautiful girl washing you would be quite a turn-on, but Alex wasn't exactly in the mood for that.

Severa used the rag to clean off his arms, chest, and face.

"You know, most men would be embarrassed by something like this, especially when they're your age." Severa said, slightly teasing him.

"I'm used to it." Alex said, sighing. "I had to share a bath for years; this is not much different."

As Severa cleaned Alex, she felt something start to heat up in her chest.

"N-No...it can't be...it's just heartburn or something." Severa thought to herself.

Severa continued to clean Alex while the burning inside of her chest got worse and worse. After they finished, Alex put his clothes back and was invited to sleep inside the cave instead of outside, which he promptly declined as he set up a sleeping bag in front of the cave along with a small campfire. Alex eventually fell asleep while Severa watched from a distance before eventually falling asleep herself.

However when she woke up, Alex was gone. Almost as if he had vanished in the wind. Leaving both her and Reyna with worry.

"I just hope he's okay..."
