Chapter 6 - (006) Epiphany

[Monday - 15th - January - 2018]

I ended up racking my brain thinking about how to solve this problem, and to be honest, I don't see any other way than to streamline what I'm doing and focus on that.

I used to draw and there really is a market for it on the internet, but I'm not really good at it.

I'd say I can draw something on the level of a low-quality manga, but unfortunately I don't have a tablet.

I could draw on my cell phone or using my computer mouse, but there's no point in me having the 'skills' and no real place to sell them.

This kind of market depends a lot on how well known you are.

Maybe later as a hobby or when I'm a bit more stable, but not yet.

After I'd made up my mind, Alfa and I ate and then went to bed.

From the next day onwards we'd have very few hours of sleep.

...

[Tuesday - Day 16 - January - 2018]

Today I woke up with a conclusion so obvious and simple that I don't understand how I didn't come to it before.

I decided to write.

The thing is, I've always been a big reader and my completed readings are already in the triple digits.

So considering all my experience, why not write something?

I confess that I've tried before but was never really focused on it and gave up easily, you could say that my lack of desire was the reason for that.

But this time I wouldn't do it just for a hobby or with the intention of doing it without commitment.

This time I would do it with a goal and focus, with my objective in mind.

And from there I got on with my day.

Today Alfa cleaned the house and I made lunch.

After lunch, Alfa started studying programming and I started studying the art of writing.

I started watching videos online about how to write, what perspective to use, how to develop a character, world and so on.

And I had no idea that there was such a large study on this, there are lots of videos on the internet and there are even some terms I've never heard of.

I learned a lot and after about 5 hours of non-stop study I decided to practice.

I opened my notebook and before I started writing I began to think about what my story was going to be about.

My goal is to write something that people, and especially I, will like, and I want to sell it and make money from it. But there's no point in writing something and not feeling satisfied, that way I'll get discouraged and disappointed with the story, and so this story came mainly from what I'd like to do and not from what people might like.

It didn't take long to come up with a result, I simply decided to make it about a world from a type of story that I like: Realistic Fantasy, or in other terms, Dark Fantasy.

First I made a script after having the basic idea of what I wanted to do. In this script I put the name of the kingdom, location, characters, climate, power scaling, magic, techniques and so on.

Obviously I didn't put all this in without writing the first chapter, as it could end up making me get lost or blocking my creativity, but the main things I did put in were the name of the protagonist, the characters, the climate and the kingdom.

The rest, such as power scaling, magic and techniques, I'll put in as the story progresses and I've simply set aside a place mainly for that.

Before writing the script, I wrote the synopsis. This is the revised synopsis after the script:

A Survivor's Odyssey

Fantasy, Drama, Romance, Harem, Adventure

Despite having a troubled family and missing his parents, Alan Heis was always a kind boy who helped everyone and was happy to do so, seeing a smile on others was his greatest joy.

While he was at school erasing the blackboard for the next lesson, he and his classmates were unexpectedly transported by a magic circle to a different realm, a fantasy world.

They are called the chosen heroes and must save this world from the imminent destruction caused by the war against the demons.

Their mission? To kill the Demon King.

What was supposed to be a fun adventure turns out to be darker and crueler than he could have imagined when, despite being heroes, he and his colleagues are trained as soldiers.

After being trained in the palace for a year, they are sent to the fortress city on the border of the demon kingdom to join the army on the front line.

It was here that their initial descent into hell turned into a fall.

To be honest, I'm proud of the idea I had.

In my head this story would become so grandiose and epic that I can't describe in words how much I really expect from it.

I think it has real potential to become one of the top-ranking SuperNovels.

I just don't know how I'm going to add Romance and Harem. I added these categories to attract more attention but I don't know how to work with them.

Well, that will be a problem to be solved over time, so for now let's write.

By the end of the day Alfa had made a breakthrough in programming and I had written 12 chapters.

When we went to bed at 2am, we only stopped to eat and do our business.

It was a great day.

[Wednesday - Day 17 - January - 2018]

Our morning routine continued as usual, today I made lunch and Alfa cleaned the house.

After cleaning up the dirty dishes and doing our basic needs like showering and brushing our teeth, we went about our day as usual.

I had the idea of getting 20 chapters accumulated before I started posting, but before I go back to work I have to pick up my package.

I leave the house and start walking up the stairs, with the aim of going to my building's reception.

Arriving at the entrance, I see a familiar face.

"Good afternoon, Mr. João," I say to the doorman.

"Good afternoon Kael, it's rare to see you these days," said João with a smile.

João is a 50-year-old man who has been the doorman of this building for years. I used to talk to him every day, but at the moment I'm quite busy.

"I've been very busy lately, I just quit my job," I said calmly.

When he heard my words, his face turned sour.

"It's a shame you've been fired, but it happens. If you're having trouble or want a job, I have a friend who works on a construction site.

With his words a smile appeared on my face, his concern was clear even though we had no blood relation.

"Don't worry, Mr. João, I didn't get fired, I actually quit. That job was killing me and I ended up asking to leave, you know the situation was awful," I replied with a smile.

"Okay, I'll trust you, but if you're having trouble, don't hesitate to come to me for help. My doors are always open, you know you can come to my house whenever you want" he still looked worried but I managed to calm him down a little.

"I'll keep that in mind. But changing the subject, I'm in a bit of a hurry, do you know if any of my packages arrived today?"

"Oh yes, it's here with me. Will you be able to carry it all by yourself?" He replied, taking my packages from behind the counter and putting them on the table.

"Yes, I can," I said, picking up my packages and stacking them in my arms.

Somehow I managed to stand up and walk without dropping them, despite their weight.

"Right, Mr. João, when I have more time I'll come and talk to you. Have a nice day," I said as I left.

"Don't forget, if you need any help, I'm here"

Leaving the reception, I headed for my apartment. Fortunately, I didn't drop anything on the way up the stairs.

I put the items on my bed in my apartment and left the house, this time going next door to talk to my neighbor who works with computers.

After pressing the doorbell, I waited a while and he came to open the door.

"Oops, what can I do for you Kael?" said Cristian.

I'm not close to Cristian, he's simply my neighbor and we greeted each other when we met, but we didn't even have a proper conversation.

"I want you to set up a computer for me and fix the system, how much will it cost to do that?"

He seemed to think for a moment before saying.

"120 reais, it'll be ready by tonight"

"All right, I'll bring the parts and get the money." Saying that, I went back to my apartment.

After handing him all the parts and the money, I went home to continue my work.

The computer screen, keyboard and mouse are in my room next to my bed, and he said I didn't need to give them to him to tidy up.

Back at work I sit on my bed and continue writing my story with the aim of finishing the 20 chapters today and starting to post.

....

....

Evening came and Cristian came to my door to deliver my computer and set it up.

Alfa went to hide in the bathroom while I went to answer the door.

The process was simple and didn't take 10 minutes. He simply connected the power cable, the internet cable, the screen, the keyboard, the mouse and turned on the computer.

The computer is set up on my desk, I don't have a place for it yet.

It was working normally with the system, he even did a performance test and it was as expected.

I thanked him and he left my apartment, after which I locked the door.

After he left, Alfa quickly sat down at his computer and started installing the applications he needed for his work.

While I, sitting on the other side of the table, quickly switched to writing on the other old computer. The difference in speed is clear.

By the end of the day I had written another 10 chapters, making a total of 22.

I decided to post 4 chapters a day and set myself a target of PowerCoins in SuperNovel for extra chapters.

I decided to start posting from tomorrow and programmed in the app for 4 to go out tomorrow at 12:00.

Again, we went to bed at 2am, but this time our efficiency was much higher after getting the computer. We made great progress.
